well why were you bullied? i was very handsome in hs and everyone was nice to me. i just want to know your pov
@ibidknight Жыл бұрын
@@JhonnyStone100 It depends on many factors, from appearance to their perceivance of your attitude, etc. For me personally, I feel like I was perceived as weak since I was almost always alone at school, skinny, and pretty ugly. My bullies were no more handsome, but they were never alone and they seemed decently popular which made it seem cool to pick on weaker kids. Furthermore, they lived in the same apartment complex as me, so the torture never ended at school. They pushed me around on the bus daily, once pushing me out the doors at the wrong bus stop, having to walk home 1 mile in the sweltering heat in May. At my apartment complex, they would chase and beat me with sticks, luckily I was a fast runner but when caught by surprise I suffered at least a few cuts. I was pushed into thorny bushes, it got so bad that my mother noticed once and threatened to call the police when seeing it happen, I am glad my parents supported me although I didn't fully disclose the entire situation to them. Due to their torture for 3-4 years, I have been mentally scarred for essentially life, becoming even more socially anxious and only really recovering somewhat 5-6 years later in college, where people are much more mature and it has become easier to make friends and talk to people. Still, my potential to be better at giving presentations, speeches, and more was cut into pieces, on top of feeling like k*lling myself more times than not during high school. I never attempted it as my mind eventually left that dark place when I reconsidered how it would affect my family and others, but this forced endurance led to unfixable mental scars. To this day I still feel very socially anxious and I am more reclusive in general, my trust in people has faded and I feel more comfortable around animals than my fellow species. For those that suffered physical bullying such as s*xual abuse and being beaten up, I can only imagine how bad it felt for them to go past feeling like k*lling themself and actually carrying out the deed to end their pain, on top of that if they didn't have a loving home system and family to support them, that would be another factor. People are bullied for many reasons, as they say "hurt people hurt people" and many of them go on to do this as adults, especially those in power who continue to be bullies to this day. Being handsome and socially outgoing makes you less of an "outcast", and even the most vile kid could not bully you and get away with it, since you have that high school "social status" as being popular or attractive, that someone thinks about you at a given moment in school and you have a lot of people you can connect with, even if they aren't really your friends, you could have admirers, people that are inspired by you, etc. Someone that is perceived as weak and alway being alone is seen as an outcast, for dressing differently, acting differently, liking different things, not adhering to social trends and values, they are therefore seen as abnormal and cast from society, which makes it a pain to fit in when you are just being yourself, you quickly realize fitting in requires you to throw away your morals, your values, and blindly follow a crowd, something that people "outside the box", spectators such as myself, being to realize and completely reject, which further confirms my architectural and nonconforming mindset as my personality type is INTJ. Even still, just because you don't conform to social standards, if you don't purposely offend or hurt people or break societal laws, why are we ostracized and tortured as such?

Sleep peacefully little lady. This gave me pause, brought back bad memories of the first death by suicide in my life of a fellow student ( also hanged themselves). He was bullied by a lot of the older students at the school and bus stop. I was friends with his twin brother so I would constantly hear/see about the things they did to him on the bus and at the school. Eventually one of the twins had enough and took his own life, it was devastating and the other twin pretty much stopped talking to everyone, including me. This doesn't just effect the family, this effects the school, other parents, teachers, and the students, and the community as a whole. I just hope bullying wasn't the cause in this case as some people are just depressed and have a tough time living day to day.

Until school district and individual school administrators learn to take bullying seriously and to do away with stupid *"zero tolerance"* policies which require the victims to be disciplined for defending themselves then this will not be the final student suicide on campus or at home 🚸
@bornstellarnova1991 Жыл бұрын
@@thesun-N-moon8885 Exactly. I went to a catholic school until 7th grade which was like '04-'05, and even then, the teachers and admins were pretty hands on with discipline. Not in the extreme like back-in-the-day, but we'd get an occasional ruler to the hand for writing sloppy or get our shirts dragged to the hallway and put into a chair for talking shit or putting hands on another student. I remember parents that weren't members of the Church trying to complain and raise hell (pun intended) and being shut down because of the clauses and agreements they made with the adminstration and the diocese. I was a little too outspoken about how the church handled the treatment of my people, the Hunkpapa Lakota, and eventually my family pulled me out of that place and put me in a public school after some altercations with the deacon/principle, who was later charged and excommunicated for embezzlement and extortion. But, the point being: My behavior towards others wasn't out of line and I never disrespected my elders, because of how some of those teachers did handle situations that required discipline. They tried to teach and preach diplomacy and forgiveness and to turn the other cheek and help those in need. Not all of them, but some, and that was enough. The people I did get a little conversationally confrontational with - all but asked for a reality check in their ignorance and bliss - because being a different race, and not white, most of them automatically assumed I was some poor, uneducated colored kid that couldn't speak english. Most of those kids are now successful and have families and are in good places in life, including myself. The school systems do have a part to play in how kids handle life and they are supposed to be preparing them for it. Instead, we have these tragedies occuring all over the country because no one wants to "teach" anymore, they just want to spew nonsense that accounts to nothing in the end and draw a paycheck. No parent should bury their child. And as far as I see it, these adminstrators and teachers need to be held accountable when a child's life is taken because nothing was done by the people who are supposed to help when suffering from psychological and physical abuse by other students.

Gently encourage outlets in areas that she enjoys, like crafting, working with shelter animals, becoming a big sister, taking cooking classes, kickboxing, etc. And maybe pair her with someone who is a great listener, sympathetic, confidential, non judgemental, and familiar with socio/cultural issues around the world (brings great insight and understanding of diverse issues). Could be a cousin, family friend, or a therapist. I think it's important your daughter also feel engaged in some sort of activity, in addition to regular therapy. Ways to express herself, stimulation that makes her feel at ease to be vulnerable while also excited with whatever activity she's doing. It's a more organic approach to self discovery and peace finding, vs the clinical nature of an office. It's also important to continue maintaining boundaries, routine, and rules in the home, but gently, from the lens of love vs irritation. With reminders of how loved and valuable she is. And how much impact she can have (or already has had) on even just a single person due to her heart, mind, and life experiences. And how that person may go on to do great things just for her being in their life, or saying the right thing at the right time. That peace isn't 24/7 happiness, but acceptance of the good and the bad, and it's a journey, not a race with a definite countdown. When relating to her with your own experiences, try not to make it seem as if you're equating them (it can make ppl feel dismissed, one-up'd, or isolated when they don't think you really get them), and admit when you don't know the answers or exactly how she feels & how tough it might be for her, but that you would like to understand. And try to avoid reacting negatively, fearfully, or dramatically to intense things she opens up about. That you want to be her safe place, or help her to find one...that we shouldn't feel ashamed about our feelings, we should instead think about understanding them, and understanding how those deep, scary, feelings connect all of us as humans despite our differences. That your daughter is a beautiful human being, and that she never had to earn or become that beauty, that she's beautiful because she "is," and regardless of the ugliness she may encounter in this world, nothing will ever take her beauty away. I say this having come from dark places as a kid, all through my young adulthood, and thinking that the young me may have appreciated and benefited from doing and hearing these things. Best wishes for you and your family. Many Try to pull on the rope in hopes of lifting themselves up but it's usually too slippery or they aren't strong enough. The worse is the one who was able to pull back the chair and regain her footing only to lose it again and bounce hard on the rope which still didn't kill her but likely hurt so bad. Why would you tell me something like that when I'm working alone during night time?" But I said "why?" She responded "Because his kid kept getting bullied. He spoke to all the administrations, staff, etc, but no one did nothing. So one morning, he came here with a gun and killed himself." I thought to myself "that doesn't make sense. Why kill himself, that put more dread to his wife and kids. Why not just pull his kid out? Also, something big like that would be all over the news, i never saw such thing." I thought she was just making things up so I cut the conversation short saying I'm behind work and I'll talk to her later. It kept bothering me, so I tried googling it. Nothing. Something told me to add the school to the search and so I did. And I found it. Short school article about some dad killing himself because his son kept being bullied. It's sad and crazy. It's a sick irony because now the school is littered with anti bullying posters everywhere. I just wanted to share this with someone. I feel bad for the kid and their parents.

My heart and prayers go out to her family. This is horribly sad and upsetting. Schools across the country need to do more and step up. I can't imagine what she must have been going through and she shouldn't have had to go through it and this possibly could have been prevented if society would just get their crap together. She was more than likely bullied and the school board more than likely did nothing as per usual. No child should ever have to feel such a heavy emotional weight to where they are considering suicide, this is absoloutly heart breaking. If there are students on campus who "witnessed" the scene when did they witness the scene after or before she died? Did they report what they saw or try to help in any way? This seems more like it could possibly be murder.

This breaks my heart for her, for her family. I'm praying for them. My son is 12 and being bullied, it just started a few months ago but he has changed so much since it started. I have always taught him to be kind and love unconditionally. Unfortunately that's not what everyone is teaching their kids. I can see the world is hardening him. We want to pull him but he says he doesn't want to be away from his friends. He says he likes school, just not those people. He went from being an honor role student to F's in every class. I'm so torn, especially after hearing a story like this. I know we don't know why she did it but I think where she did it says a lot.

sometimes the school knows a person is being bullied but does nothing. when i was in high school my guidance counselor victim blamed me all the time and when i asked why she wouldn’t do anything, she said “there isn’t anything i can do. i cant force people to be friends with you.” which is understandable like she really can’t, but she could’ve at least been more empathetic:(

Kids are more ruthless honestly. When I was in highschool my senior year it was just after Covid and I decided to create an Instagram account as a way to communicate incase school got shut down I lost almost my entire highschool expereance so I want to at least be able to connect again incase we were locked down. I hadn't told anyone I created a account but with a day everyone knew it they were able to find the person I like and tag her in all my post making weird comments, I told her about it and to ingore it and just deleted my posts. They then made spam accounts and started sending me messages new accounts would pop up if I blocked one. after two accounts I just went private till things cooled down. As a result I trusted no one and just excluded my self form people purposely cause I knew they talked behind my back. Wasn't till after highschool I heard the things they said calling me school shooter, weird kid, quiet kid (which had another meaning) I didn't even talk to them but they made those assumptions but looking back I just laugh about it while they drinking and getting high I am training to become a firefighter and working to become Hazmat and Techincal Rescue. But I still don't trust people anymore only have a few friends I do trust but practically alone because of what occurred.

It comes in ALL shapes & sizes, creeds, ethnic/economic backgrounds, etc. An incident happened at my high school that made national news thirty years after I graduated... It is still on You Tube... two sixteen year olds girls fought until one died... over a fart. They have since used more esoteric words to describe the incident.
