Writer and director Alan Shapiro's inspiration behind the film was based on an real life experience. In Los Angeles, Alan Shapiro became a lodger at a guest house following his departure from college, which the house was owned by a married couple. Shapiro was trying to work on scripts for Hollywood but was constantly distracted by their teenage daughter Darian, who had a crush on him. Shapiro wanted nothing to do with Darian and rejected a sexual relationship with her because she was underage. One day, he came home from an errand, only to find the words "Alan sucks cock!" carved into his new car. When Alan spoke to Darian's parents about it, Darian denied vandalizing his car and worst still, Darian's parents sided with their daughter, refusing to believe Alan. However, a school friend of Darian's came forward to Alan and privately told him that Darian did do it, but Darian's parents still refused to believe Darian's school friend. Because of this, Alan moved out and he never saw Darian again. Years later, Alan's wife reminded him of Darian and told him it would make a good story for a suspense thriller and it became - The Crush.

The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature [1] will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Jesus died to cleanse us of sins, so that when we repent we are made new. Theres a difference of indulging in sin willfully, and hating sin and repenting of it. God Loves you and he wants a relationship with you, but he is a gentleman and won't intervene in our lives unless we invite him to. Get right with God while you still have time. @@Chan-oc8fb Oh look, a female who try's to have everything circle back so it's about men being evil in the end. A false accusation of rape IS a serious danger if you are a man. Every good thing in your life, every dream you've ever had, all of it can be taken away forever by one false accusation. Just the stigma that you MAYBE MIGHT POSSBILITY have done it is enough to get your social death warrant signed. Every man with even a lick of sense knows about this. We actively think about this when talking to women. When trying to look for a partner we absolutely take this into account. "Don't stick your dick in crazy." Is a saying because that's how you catch a false charge. Base case scenario, AFTER she ruins my entire life, she is proven wrong. But by then the damage is already done. I have no future. What's her punishment for taking my future? Most likely nothing, or maybe a slap on the wrist like 30 days in county jail. I'll say this about rape. While it's a horrendous atrocity that causes immense psychological damage for life. At least rape victim's don't get thrown into jail and their entire life and future forcibility and physically taken away from them. Instead they are given a huge mental battle to overcome. If I had to choose between being raped or being accused of rape. It wouldn't even be a question for me. Because if I get raped there is at least a hope that I may one day be able to build it back and become stronger from the experience. If I get accused then my life is ruined and there is absolutely nothing I can do but sit there and watch a woman's lie kill every dream I ever had.

It is always important to remember that "based on a true story" movies are not factual, those are called documentaries. They use "based on a true story' because they know the vast majority of viewers will not do their due diligence to see what part of it is real and what was fictional as a marketing method to sale tickets. Many people take it to be "exactly like the real story" when it isn't, its just a marketing term. Lets say, I went and ate a french fry, and then after that certain events happened that aren't exactly spectacular but somewhat notable. So... Moving away or telling her parents right away didn't occur to him as soon as it began? Nick liked the attention from Adrian. He indulged her way too damn much and did nothing to hide his attraction to her. She was definitely diabolical but he knew from the very beginning she had a crush on him and allowed too many boundaries to be crossed. He didn't tell anyone about her behavior until she messed with his car and that alone makes me not trust Nick. Alan Shapiro, the man who wrote and directed The Crush, based it on something that happened to him after he got out of film school. He rented a guest house from a family who had a 14 year old daughter that became obsessed with him. When he rejected her, she scratched the word "c**ksucker" across the hood of his car, just like in the movie. When The Crush originally came out in '93, Silverstone's character was named "Darien", which was also the name of the then 14 year old girl that Shapiro had his incident with. I remember seeing the movie back then and hearing everyone calling her by that name. However shortly after the movie came out on VHS and cable, the girl and her family found out about it and filed a defamation lawsuit against Shapiro and Warner Bros. As a result, the producers had to go back and redub everyone saying "Darien" to "Adrian." Now when you watch The Crush, you can notice the actors mouths out of sync saying "Adrian", plus the redubbed voices do not match the original actors AT ALL.

Not really. This movie is "based on a true story," but the worst the real life Darian ever did to the writer/director was vandalize his car. All of the sabotage and harm the movie's Adrian did is pure fiction. Not saying it never happens, but the odds of a 14 year old girl stealing your used condom to try and frame you for assault are astronomically low. Women in their 20's do that infrequently, but the thought of doing something like that would almost never cross a 14 year old's mind, and it's honestly creepy that the writer would portray a 14 year old that way.

A rich one. You'd be surprised the the information that the privilege of wealth comes with. We weren't rich-rich but I knew stuff about the oil industry at 14 that would boggle your mind. My father was one of the first Exxon-Mobil expats to the Niger-Delta oil region.

The writers really want to beat us over the head with the idea that Adrian is not a normal 14-year-old so the audience won’t feel bad for her. “She’s a master pianist! She skipped 2 grades! She writes better than a professional writer! She’s well-versed in the intricacies of bees and wasps! She shunned her carousel as a child, so actually, she’s always been a fully-grown adult!” Like okay, we get it 😂

One of my friends back in High school apparently had a knack of attracting weirdos. His own cousin wanted to make out with him and would start to cry after he refused. But there was a girl that was I think a year or two below us and she had a huge...I mean huge crush on him. There was a small patch of trees and a back road that was between them so they lived close to each other. But almost every day she would just sit on his lawn staring at the house. She was weird; came from a religious family, last name was Dragula, but luckily she dropped out of school to become home schooled.

@RashawnBlue13 жыл бұрын
"based on a true story" is a marketing term, please educate yourself on it. Most of this movie is a complete exaggeration of what it is inspired by... Seriously, the fact so many people are so gullible by this term, really demands standardization. Listen, if its not a documentary, take everything about it with a grain of salt. The more accurate term would be "inspired by a thing that happened to someone, somewhere".

@@shadowkiller7510 You are obviously one of the gullible idiots that fall for that marketing term. You know there isn't any legal standard on how that term should be used, right? Like I said, the proper term that *should* be used is "inspired by" and not "based on a true story". I think you need to look it up yourself before speaking on the subject.

I'm just glad that Adrian's friend set things straight about how she was gagged by Adrian and the assault was false. But what's frightening is not only was this based off of a real story, but anybody could be clinically insane and get you in a lot of trouble. Needless to say if a 14 year old makes a love shrine for you and you find it, you tell the parents and leave IMMEDIATELY! Don't just nail it up and ignore them, they will only get worse.
