I think that the movie is a symbol for grief and acceptance when a loved one dies, everything went to hell around him when she died and he couldn't accept that, but when he let her stay dead everything returned to normal and he could finally move on.

I believe the movie is an allegory for abusive relationships. There were definitely signs that even before "dying", Beth wasn't the greatest person. His family didn't believe him when he tried to warn them, and her family just wanted to sweep it under the rug. As she became more verbally and physically abusive towards Zach, more zombies popped up, sort of illustrating how then abused person's world seems to fall apart and everyone seems like a predator. When he finally offs her, he states that he loves her, because his love was always genuine, but finally lets her go and everything seems to get better.

My theory on this: He’s hallucinating all of this. There is evidence that severe depression can make you hallucinate things so it’s possible that he’s imagining this whole scenario because of Beths death

He opens the video that Beth likes hikes and died from a venomous snake bite. Maybe if she wasn't on her phone while she was hiking she would've seen it?

This could have many morals. One moral I’m personally seeing is that sometimes it’s not best to give second chances. While though outcomes can be perceived different they can still occur to be the same. What I mean by this in simpler terms...You break up with someone whom abused you in a relationship. Later on down the line they come back, saying they’ve changed. You give this person another chance and then things slowly begin to return back to how they once were. Sometimes things are meant to be and that is the stone cold reality. Thus his girlfriend coming back from the dead only to be put down once more. He had a taste of the pain in which makes us unique and he let her go, once more.

After watching a little more, another moral can be learning to take a step into a new present. He shot Beth and Beth was a representation of his past. While Erica was a representation of his future. As much as he loved Beth he couldn’t be with her anymore because she was a zombie.
