@@terrycurzon1318after less than a week we’ve already seen more transparent interviews, less pretentious snobbery, and the implementation or disbanding of multiple policies. That’s as much as we’ve seen in the last 4+ years under the Conservatives. Unfortunately that isn’t even a huge exaggeration either. I understand that older generations have lived under Labour governments which may have struggled to manage the economy, that have taken us to war and created unrest, and that generally haven’t lived up to expectations, but if you truly believe that continuing with a Conservative government under the current climate was the right decision for this election, you’re simply stubborn and wrong. The simple act of acting itself, which with the mandate and majority that Labour have, is inevitable, is a better outcome than continuing under the same government. The Conservative government also has the opportunity to reassess, rid the Party of the unserious and out of touch politicians which plague their chances of resonating with several areas of the country, and come back stronger. They will hopefully see where they have gone wrong as a result of such a catastrophic loss; I would also hope that they would see the threat that Reform UK poses to them, but that remains to be seen, as they could take the unwise decision of aligning more closely to the far right as part of their reassessment of the Party. Lazy comments like yours which fail to grasp the extent of the political landscape are entirely unhelpful. I hear them a lot from older voters, but in truth, it’s time for those voters to do their research, try harder, and stop going with the status quo for the sake of being stuck in decades past.

The maths of a Labour coalition with the Lib Dems in 2010 did not work - so the only coalition viable was one with the tories. The only other option was a minority Tory government which would have fallen pretty quickly and in turn led to another election. The Lib Dems took the view, bearing in mind the bad economic state due to the 2008 crash, that stable government was better than more chaos. Though of course this led to Austerity - for which the Lib Dems were soundly punished in 2015. LOL…the very thought that Cameron thought HE would be the one to reform the EU. LOLOL. Exceptionalism in the extreme. The EU reforms itself. It may be slow but they do it.
@simongiles97496 ай бұрын
UK would have more chance to reform it when they were one of the more powerful voices in the largest voting bloc. Not a lot you can do from the outside!
