So, just my two cents on the design, if this is for airsoft, the hopup unit is going to cause the bb to curve toward the right of where it is aiming due to the gun being sideways instead of vertical, which is even worse if this design is for real steel, as it means the brass is ejecting right into your motors; As well as having the port be inaccessible for alterations, jams, and tuning in that orientation. this is a simple fix, just mirror your design so that it attaches from the left side and then scoot the mount towards the front a bit, so it attaches to the handguard rails instead of the receiver's top rail. Also, I would suggest adding a QD function to the picatinny mount used so that it is easier to setup/take down. edit: mirroring and flipping of the design would also allow for the use of shell catchers when using real steel.

Let me bring up some issues and solutions: the reason mil remote controlled/sentry guns use the bushmaster chain gun and rotary barrel minigun is that they're electrically driven; not operated by gas or recoil like an AR or M2 browning is this: if there is a jam or a dud it cycles out the dud round because the action is cycled by an electric motor. Hypothetically if this was going to be used for mil/leo it would be disabled by having any malfunction until it was cycled by a person. This is an awesome airsoft set up, like a poor man's CWIS. Edit, a possible fix for this would be to mount a gas block upside down to block off the gas port and use an electric linear actuator to just push and pull the bolt carrier back and fourth like those single shot straight pull bolt actions sold in california.
@deplorablesecuritydevicesАй бұрын
You are spot on, my plan is do exactly what you are describing. Build a butt stock that can clear a few common malfunctions. My hope is that it might be possible to integrate that with a modified upper and or bolt so that eventually people might use the unjamming robot stock while they are shooting themselves. It could sense malfunctions and clear them faster than a human.
@manitoba-op4jxАй бұрын
if you leave the upper and bolt carrier intact you can keep the gas cycle and just charge it remotely. no need to waste power cycling it. just make the solenoid/actuator charge the handle
@danielescobar7618Ай бұрын
@manitoba-op4jx disagree. Still no way to clear ftf or fte stoppages. Using a linear actuator directly on the rear of the bolt carrier and removing the gas system will let you keep going if it fails to fire.
@danielescobar7618Ай бұрын
@@deplorablesecuritydevices is the point to be able to mount a regular rifle configured to go back and fourth between mounting and then people- usable? Like you can just toss your rifle on it and take it off and leave the robot? Imo, trying to do too much if so. You can replace the buffer with the linear actuator, probably even mount it in a full length a2 fixed stock tube with some holes drilled for the wire connector. No gas. Mount it on its side with the ejection port facing down so if there is a fail to feed you can retract the bolt and just use the stepper to jostle the misfeed loose maybe short stroke it on the last 15% of rearward travel back and fourth before attempting to close the bolt again. Use a chute so the cartridges don't jam up the turn table or robot.

Awesome work. One thing sticks out that you can easily modify that will greatly improve the resilience. The pins for the armor should be on the backside of the plate. Bullets will chew up the pins and tabs they are running through. You could probably keep the main plate the way it is and just put double tabs on the back side for the original tab and pin to connect to. That way your connections are always shielded, otherwise one incident might not just ruin the armor and pins but also the main plate that the tabs are part of which would require replacing the entire central brace to reinstall armor or anything else. So to clarify, have something similar to the tabs that are currently protruding through the armor on the backside of the armor, except in pairs with a tab size slot between them and drilled for your pins. That way the connections are on the back and protected by the armor. I like it, a lot. I think this is a large part of the future of military, they just don't realize it yet.

Just some thoughts. Using belts to move the airsoft turret could make the motors more accurate and reduce the size/power required. Also look up the MG3 tripod - depending on the use case the sentry might not have to move 360 degrees, in which case it could be mounted on such a tripod, especially when powered with belts. Additionally this tripod could be a crude PVC simulacra, if it is close enough to the ground and utilizes a thoughtful approach to minimizing peak recoil shock. PVC pipes can be filled with gravel, dirt or sand provisionally, or with concrete, to weigh them down. Steel rebar can be added to reinforce them, which also offers a welding interface. Since optics are expensive, consider separating the turret from the fire-control system, and implementing an ability to control several worker turrets. Finally for the optics, taking apart a range finder is relatively easy, bridge or superzoom cameras can be used for high-quality long range vision, many ordinary cameras can be used to scan for peripheral movement and there are phase-based algorithmic approaches to training these on certain kinds of movement, which lets you differentiate between an animal and leaves in the wind, for instance. There is a paper on it by MIT CSAIL. In addition to this there are lens filters that produce spectra similar to aerochrome's, which could be a cheap alternative to thermal imaging, especially when combined with computer vision approaches, although they are not as powerful. And of course a central fire-control system would also come with the ability to add more processing power, as well as centralize power distribution. In the extreme this could make it possible to online and even solar-power the entire position. It would also have decreased visibility, although it would be more vulnerable without redundancy. An accelerometer, magnetometer and gyroscope fusion sensor can be used for rough positioning, a lidar sensor, camera, or a number of laser-based solutions could be used for absolute calibration of the turrets, as long as they are within a reasonable distance from the optics. Considering belt-fed airsoft conversions in the design makes sense as well - sentry systems should be more effective or useful than airsoft mortars or airsoftplosives for the amount of effort required to use them, as those could end up being preferred in a tournament.

Smaller batterys for home defence and stuff thats motion actuvated. Facial recognition/ir scanning if someone is looking at it or in the general area your turret is automatically targeting and identifying your target. if you wanted you could keep a data base of all the faces or use someone elses and keep track of people at your base house area where ever. Protection against sand/oils. When making your shields if you implement tracking and identification defend, (ik this is kinda obvious) your electronics cameras and tracking devices. The gun will be able to take more damage than the system its attached to. Muzzle options that way if you want a can on your tip you have the option. Diffrent models. Pistol=less lethal fullyautomatic/shotgun=more lethal less fuck around. Maybe have a proximity alarm or something around it. If someone manages to get behind it and breaks it or something you wouldnt notic unless you saw one of your cams missing or if you got like a ring doorbell notification saying hey turret number 7654 is down for unknown reasons. I perceive a potential accuracy issue, based on the angle of the rifle. Given the arc traversed by the bullet, due to the subtle angle of the barrel. When you shoot this type of rifle, normally, you'll aim center mass on your target at 50 and 300 meters. Whereas, your focal point is going to shift slightly downward between those ranges because of the parabolic path of the bullet. Basically it's going to shoot to the right. Cool project!

A company has done this before, before youtube... in the movie industry. The movie extras talked about the issues they had but I don't remember what rifle they used. I wish I could remember the movie. It had 4 of them connected like you have. They could not mount them in any orientation other than normal upright or they eventually had issues.

Dude. Where have you been all my life?! I can't believe what I'm looking at. This is top f'ing shelf, good sir. I'm giving you the standing slow clap right now. 👏🏻 Super impressed. Subbed with notifications on. Too bad KZbin will eventually go totally firearms free. You should look into posting your content to Pepperbox too. I'm about to ask a stupid question.... Are you familiar with Demolition Ranch, The Fat Electrician, Brandon Herrera, Eli, Angry Cops and Doughnut Operator?? Pepperbox belongs to those GunTubers. I'm not sure about how to go about getting a creators account, but your content is excellent and I think you'd fit right in there. Damn..... I can't get over just how f'ing badass that is!! 🤯🤯

This is the future of static firefights, imagine a portable version of this with a basiv camera on it so someone can take control of it while you engage other targets. This has SERIOUS potential.

I have a question about the ejection port facing a flat object. While, the chances of brass bouncing up into the chamber is low, if there's something there the chances exist. I've seen a lot of strange malfunctions from my time on ranges in the Army.

Not sure if you've test fired it in that orientation before but won't the brass bounce back into the rifle potentially jamming it? Do you have a deflector in mind or tbh if you mount it the opposite way where it flies upwards you might be good. I only say this because I've seen some downward ejecting MGs jam sometimes when the casings bounce back up into the action.

Have you considered PoE (Power over Ethernet)? It can carry up to 48V(15.4W), would reduce the amount of wires
@deplorablesecuritydevices12 күн бұрын
It would work if you slowed down the motors they can draw 400w max. Nominal power is 14W so it could work with newer 90w poe and some detuned motors. Or by adding local batteries for the 400w peaks. I do like the single cable though. Also considering usb pd as it woukd untegrate will with local solar. So many choices...

Actually kinda working on an idea of the same type. A few Differences of course. Like full metal box and such but remote control none the less. Getting an APP developed with a camera for sighting is definitely gonna be the hardest part.
@superezbzАй бұрын
Not really. Just a CCTV feed to your computer with a crosshair overlay app. Or, you could go old school gamer and tape a reticle to the screen and just use a TV. Or, you could get a scope camera and do one of the other 2 things and use the reticle of the scope or sight.

Now we need a custom AI model with facial recognition for a targeting system.

This is beautiful but it needs it's own custom lower with it's own feeding system. Turning everything onto it's side to make up for geometry is sacrificing size, and plausibly functionality. No hate, love this thing. 6 plus 12 oz in and thinking about building my own someday myself. Much love ; D

I have a few ideas I’d like to share, why not instead when facing the turret. Have the gun on the left side instead of the right? That way the brass gets thrown further away and an operator can better fix potential jams. As well as when repositioning, have a way to instead have a spot for it to mount directly to the lower by getting screwed where the grip attaches. And lastly, do you even need a safety selector on the gun anymore when it’s attached? I would believe if you have the turrets bar that actuates the trigger have its own pin you could put in to make sure it doesn’t actuate the trigger unless removed. This is assuming you plan to have it full auto to begin with and you didn’t want to be bothered with modeling a space for the spring that would be retaining the detent for the safety or super safety if you wanted to make a civilian model.

Yolink shut valve system via app🤨🤷🏽( they have a few unit’s with different build quality) you can use their shut valve motor and app for operation from around the world or a car climate control actuator for trigger-pull,, Im sure we’ll see eye to eye when you see the shut valve unit, You can make it work with the a little ingenuity and the parts you already created( yolink even has many camera system. you can use it via app for a targeting system to have a view straight down the barrel. you might have to disassemble their doorbell camera to achieve this, but you get the idea). Omg i love all the gadgets that are out right now, its so cool to be living in these times right now 😊( yolink even has a button pusher and switch flicker🤷🏽, I guess its an attempt to merge new tech with OT ) yolink is a very inexpensive home and horticulture animation system with over 50 products / inspector gadget 🤷🏽. The system is very inexpensive , but works well, plus you can call and speak with the owner he will fabricate something for you if needed 🤨…. ✌🏽

So this is great. But you have to solve a few issues. A 30 round magazine is not enough so whatever you use in the way of motors needs to support the weight of say a 100 round drum. None of it is weather sealed. To protect it you will need something that look natural or specifically BB/paintball/bullet resistant It also has to hide the mounted bullet launcher as well. Of course this is limited due to weight and what would blend into the back ground. The glazing plate is not bad but it need to cover the bullet launcher. Where does the camera mount to?
@user-mn8lz7gf6dАй бұрын
you could run the cables in the big bracket, should give at least a bit of protection.
@ericrichardson825Ай бұрын
I have a point of constructive criticism; I think you might want to relocate the position of the ejection port from being in line with something that can, and in my experience, will often bounce the spent shell casing back into the action/ Bolt carrier group thus jamming the system. This will likely occur spontaneously especially as the vertical pitch is increased and the force of gravity with it. looks great though!

why not have the pivot center of the rifle towards the back? near the buttplate/ king nut to the buffer tube? would have a greater aiming radius on the y axis. ... hmm, might get strained under fire if its that far back, motors would have to be stepped up as well
@946towguy2Ай бұрын
The rail clamp seems to be a major weak point. Also, I think that putting all the shock loading on that shaft is a mistake, rather than having the stepper turn a bearing plate which has two rail clamps at 3 and 9.

You should add target plates that disable the motors and/or other signals to denote that its been disabled so we really can use it for airsoft. And why did you make it not use batteries? It has to use batteries. One person couldn't really carry this plus a power supply or generator, that's all way too much when you could just power it with lipo batteries and swap them out as needed. I would actually use this for airsoft but even for the people that don't, it would be useful to be able to forward deploy these things on the fly and you can't really do that if they require mains

Poor man's rig would be a mouse-trap used as a striker to whatever sends the airsoft pellets flying. It's a one-off area denial, but it's only $10 vs. $1000. Doesn't seem like much compared to the sentry setup, until you'd have to deal with 100 of 'em where a defender had time to prepare around the flag objective and with non-standard and devious setups to trip them.
