any reason you're not using simpler motors that have readily available software?

I have to wonder why you decided on these motors? Wouldnt like any of the commonly used stepper motors be easier to control? 3d printers seem to have no problem moving both axis at the same time. And I would use a similar belt drive system as 3d printers but allow more slippage(if that could be compensated for easily) I just imagine it wouldnt get damaged as easily with a belt drive system. I would prioritize finishing the project over fast movements and slim form factor. I would save the sexy but unproven stuff for the second iteration. I think every roboticist has had to learn that lesson the hard way to one extent or another
@deplorablesecuritydevices3 күн бұрын
These motors are very power dense, they include the gearbox and output encoder. This sentry is optimized to be a backpackable solution. My plan is to use some simpler, cheaper bulkier motors on something similar.

I really hope you've patented this. I'd love to buy one when its done. I want to play tower defense with the critters in my yard 😂

...bro, each one of your points are disappointingly nonsensical. You deserve to feel ashamed for what youve said, unless youre an 80+ year old or younger than 14, then you could be forgiven for not knowing how pointless and counterproductive patents are currently, not understanding why this is an open source project, and not knowing to avoid admitting your intention to commit felonies including but not limited to animal abuse.. for what its worth, ill say you shouldn't want to do that to animals but even if you lived in a country where thats legal, you could still end up airsofting an old lady into the hospital by accident if she walked into your backyard. That would be bad and it would be your fault
@ArmoredStone3 күн бұрын
@@GPOLICEFrom the bit of research I've done I can't see any regulations against remote controlling a firearm to dispatch wild hogs. That said, I would ask people smarter than I before doing it either way. And if an old lady did somehow walk into my backwoods, I would see her on multiple cameras. I wouldn't have the thing set to automatically sling .300 blackouts by itself. Ammo is far too expensive for that anyway. Also, the hostility you showed wasn't warranted, and I would strongly advise you seek counseling for the outburst. Have a nice day! 😊

I'm not sure what all it would take to redesign as a result, but have you considered using a digitrigger? There would be some more cost and would make the design less universal but could simplify some other things as well. Recently found your video and had a thought. If it's a dumb idea, let me know. Thanks

Maybe you could dampen it by adding a hydraulic support rod (like the ones on the trunks of hatch back cars, or after market motorcycle steering buffers). Attach one end to the butt stock and the other end to the mount.

Have you thought about adding a battery backup? Like a micro UPS using a cheap drill battery like walmart's hypertough batteries?Because that would be how I would attack it. I would attack the power supply. No need to confront it directly when you can starve it.

Have you considered PoE (Power over Ethernet)? It can carry up to 48V(15.4W), would reduce the amount of wires
@deplorablesecuritydevices13 күн бұрын
It would work if you slowed down the motors they can draw 400w max. Nominal power is 14W so it could work with newer 90w poe and some detuned motors. Or by adding local batteries for the 400w peaks. I do like the single cable though. Also considering usb pd as it woukd untegrate will with local solar. So many choices...
