Very well put together... great info... Upon a side note, for the Jeep guys... If you are running a DANA 30 stock axle, this upgrade may sound fantastic, but, until you change out to a heavier axle, be careful, as the stock components on the stock DANA 30 axle, something will break in extreme situations. I example, the front wheel get wedged in between rocks, and you try to steer, you may blow either the upper or lower ball joint (typically the upper) or the steering gearbox mounted to the unified body member, can start to fracture the sheet metal or fracture the mounting lugs of the steering gearbox casting.. the list is long.... I am not saying you can do this, it actually is a great way to get the speed back to what you were once used to, before you added a slave steering ram... , just be smart how you wheel your rig in bind situations, is all I am saying.. Thank you for the video, to educate people, as always. Please note, I am not trying to step on your toes, "recoveryteam". Just thought I would add my two cents into the matter...

First 😎 Also, Ive found that royal purple synthetic power steering fluid is the best fluid to use, especially in hydro boost systems. Runs quite a bit cooler, and has even made squeaky pumps quiet again. Also stays clean for much longer. If you dont already have a cooler, good idea to add one to the return line. Love your videos!

I replaced the power steering pump on my 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4, about 10 years ago. I used the Pulley Removal/Install Tool, from Harbor Freight. I like your Removal and Installation Tool better, than my Harbor Freight tool. :)

I used the harbor freight one for like 5 years and I only broke one when I used the impact on it but for 30$ it’s really good

a quick torch blast makes the pulley come off much easier and again before putting it on the new pump shaft. obviously try not to heat and cook the seal on a pump that will be reused.

Thanks for the video! So... if my pump has the washer shim in it, I could just remove that shim to increase the pressure, right? Would you be willing to make a follow-up video with adjusting the pressure?

Too light gets dangerous at highway speeds.... anybody considering this needs to take that into account, and also remember that any pump puts out more pressure as rpm increases. You might get it nice at idle in a parking lot, but at what cost to high speed stability? So a mod like this is definitely application specific.

Can you show how to bleed the hydro boost system? Please please please

The power steering, and hydro boost unit should self bleed. If not check, and make sure your hoses are connected correctly.

From everything I have read those pumps only went to 1200 psi. That’s all I have found

Won't increasing flow decrease pressure? seems like it would to me, with my somewhat limited knowledge of how hydraulic systems work ;)
