In this vlog discover with me 2 places around Alicante in Spain
I'll show you around the city, Tabarca island and the Altea village
Altea
Altea is another village a little further away but still easy to access with the tram, you will have to change lines in Benidorm (1h30 journey from Alicante)
The station is located between the historic village and the more recent and modern village which borders the beaches
To reach the top of the historic heart you will then have to take one of the countless streets that go up (obviously)
This village with white streets is superb
Village to do!
Tabarca Island
With its length of 1,800 meters and its width of 400 meters, it is the smallest inhabited island in the entire Mediterranean, even if it only has around sixty inhabitants.
It is flat and that’s what it was called in 1700: Illa Plana.
At the time it was a refuge for pirates and in 1850 it had nearly 1000 inhabitants who lived mainly from fishing.
Today it is a marine reserve
The entrance to the village is via a superb porch crossing a large wall.
We then arrive on the main street lined with a few shops and restaurants which is punctuated by a few adjacent streets where it is pleasant to stroll while enjoying the shade and the calm surroundings.
At the end of the village there is another door which opens onto the first end of the island with rocks bathing in the water, it is very beautiful
You can reach the first entrance by walking along the wall
You will then arrive on a large pebble beach occupied mainly by motionless seagulls looking at the waves in the distance.
If you have time I advise you to do the second part of the island which is located just after this beach
You will walk along the cliffs to arrive at a lighthouse (closed by gates) then a little further to a charming cemetery, which also has its gate closed with a padlock.
Then just after the cemetery I suggest you go 200 meters further to the second end of the island.
The spectacle of waves crashing on an islet is superb
I stayed a total of 3 hours on the island and that was more than enough time to walk around it, take photos and take a break in a bar.
