In this vlog discover Alicante in Spain with me
I'll show you around the city, the Santa Cruz district and we go up to the Santa Barbara castle
Alicante
A long time ago, in -200 BC, the Romans settled here and named the city: Lucentum
Then over the centuries it was abandoned and was taken by the Arabs between 718 and 1248
It was then the turn of the Christians to settle there
From 1304 the city was besieged by the British then the French and it suffered a lot of conflicts such as the War of Succession or the Spanish War.
A little further into the city, don't forget to go to the central market (Central Market / Mercado Central), the building is superb, don't hesitate to go down to the lower floor where the fish and fruit sellers are located. (open every morning except Sunday)
Santa Cruz
This historic district is very pleasant to walk through, these few streets revolve around the “Plaza de Quijano” square.
For example at the start of the square "Plaza de Quijano" there are small stairs which lead (at the top) to the street "Calle San Roque"
Walk it from start to finish because one of the two sides leads to other equally beautiful streets
Santa Cruz is located at the foot of Mount Benacantil where the remains of Santa Barbara Castle stand
I advise you to climb the 169 meters, it’s a fairly easy route to do and above all the view from the top is superb.
(I didn’t visit the castle, it didn’t appeal to me at the time)
The Santa Cruz district ends with lively little streets around the church "Cocatedral de Sant Nicolau de Bari" and the square "Plaza de la Santísima Faz", which is very pleasant
Once you arrive at the street: "Rambla de Méndez Núñez" you will find a small square "Plaza Portal de Elche" which is on the corner of the street "Calle Médico Manero Molla" where there is a small kiosk in the middle of a tangle of plants and palm trees, it's very beautiful (this is Café Soho)
A little further after this square head towards the street "Calle San Francisco" called here more commonly the "Calle de las Setas" (which means: the street of Mushrooms) because all along this street you will be surprised to find large plastic mushrooms measuring more than 2 meters which gives a rather original Disney touch.
Not far from this incredible street I advise you to go to the “Plaza Gabriel Miró” square, it’s a square with lush vegetation with a superb fountain in the center, it’s very romantic.

Non pas du tout C’est au bout du quartier Santa Cruz Ensuite il faut monter mais le chemin n’est pas compliqué

⁠@@leilaelgaied2819 Dans les restaurants de tapas ils te ramène ça sur un petit socle en bois, cela permet au restaurateur à la fin de les compter et de calculer le nombre de socle en bois qui correspondra au prix. Un tapas = un socle en bois si tu à manger 5 tapas il calcule 5 socle en bois 2€x5 tu devra payer 10€ :)
