It is easy with very little imagination and your narrations, for your journeys to travel one back in time, and see and feel the people that lived in the houses, worked in the factories going about their daily lives. I am so pleased that you feel like this when watching as being on the canal and using the locks of old, passing the industries of the past and lock keeper cottages, even seeing the marks of the old horse ropes in the bridgework is like cruising through a living museum every time we move. One wonders what delicious scents that Zephyr picks up as your narrowboat cruises along the canal. Does she smell little animals and birds long the tow path and even underwater in the canal? Hello Vanessa - greetings from Poland That was a most wonderful video. A lovely journey to Kidderminster. The viaduct carrying the Severn Valley Railway is incredible. 7 million bricks, built by hand without the use of all the mechanical devises available today. I was surprised by all the colours of the different trees as we cruised under them. Gorgeous bird song too. I always feel so relaxed having watched one of your incredible videos. Evening Vanessa what a wonderful vlog again 😊 The canal is definitely changing as the weeks go by more greenery and flowers appearing, the reflections in the water so refreshing to see. Kidderminster is a lovely place to visit with such a load of history. The two children so eager to help u at the locks was a flash back to my own children, years ago in the 90's we caravaned near the locks at Audlem on the Shropshire canal. When meal time approached all three would empty their pockets of pound coins at the dinner table, when asked how they got the money "doing the locks for the boaters of course" after the bank holiday they were spending for weeks lol. Funny how a clip in ur vlog brings back lovely memories ❤. I hope u all have a relaxing Easter weekend Thanks again.🐕🦋🐀💰

Lovely video as always, that's my first view on the Severn Valley Railway this year., now the weather is warming up I must go to my favourite station which is Arley, its by the River Severn and the steam trains pass through the station, so you have the beauty of the River and the trains. I couldn’t believe how many things went wrong for you. This week I’m glad to see was back to normal. What another lovely video Vanessa and glad you had no mishaps this time. Mr M and you seem to work together well, changing over driving the boat and operating locks etc. The kids you met looked as though they were enjoying helping you too. As I've said before I would not miss your videos as they are full of interesting facts about the places you visit, beautiful scenery and wonderful animals and birds. I almost feel as if I'm right there with you. I loved the chiffchaff and tiny mouse. Sometimes our lives get so busy we need to slow down, wrap ourselves in Nature, just be still and listen. That's what I did yesterday in my favourite park and told a little girl I met all about the birds I was taking pictures of. Thank you for encouragement to get out and about in Nature. So the next best thing is watching your videos going on that narrow lock by the would test you skills not wanting to hit sides. Canals are the best as they are a strip of untouched land full of nature , same as motorway verges , there is even an otter that comes onto the Basin in Stourport, I've only caught a climpse of him 😍🐾. My favourite canal so far is the Shropshire canal, lock free and in the middle of the countryside 💖

It’s ok but I was in a right state of mind and I had to put it down. It may sound silly as I am a nobody but the poem is for you to do or not to do whatever you like with it. 🤓.

Each week I'm so blessed by your offerings . . . I just love the historical snippets, the glimpses of a bird or a bumble bee, and of course, you always save the very best for last, your captivating artistic renderings accompanied by your poetic prose. Hi dear Vanessa, thank you for another beautiful vlog ❤ I heard the owl as you were capturing the mouse during the night. It was a tawny then, as in your poem. Do you hear many owls on the canals? I live in Spain and have only ever heard or seen the little owl. So sweet! I have a question about your supplies if I may? Firstly what paper are you working on? I filmed a mouse and a rat in this week's vlog to the sound of the tawny which is so spooky as I had forgotten that the same thing happened in this vlog that you watched. I hear Little Owls too sometimes with their squeak noises. I use Dingbats, eco-friendly, blank paged journals to draw in and I use Derwent Watercolour pencils to draw with, but I don't add water, I just blend with a blending pencil. I'm starting a natural journal and I have watercolour pencils but I had no idea that a blending pencil even existed, nor had I considered using watercolour pencils without water! It makes perfect sense because adding water to paper often results in the paper buckling, which I don't think is a great look in a journal. X

I just found your wonderful channel; your knowledge of nature you see is amazing. I would wager most other boaters miss 90% of the things you see. Can you recommend an app or apps that would help me identify what I am seeing when I go out?

Thank you so much for your lovely comment and for finding my channel too. The issue that I find with apps is they're not always accurate, so I like to use a range of mini field guides, experts on social media and the internet. I have got Seek on my phone, so you could try that. Also, if you find something and take lots of photos, then go back and research about it, then you're more likely to remember it if you see it again, but if you use an app and it manages to identify something, then it is so quick and as a result, quite often forgotten. Enjoy your exploring; it's the best pastime! Happy New Year! 🥳🌻🦋
