I have never known docs to be for men or women they are just boots. I got the unisex pair and they are gorgeous.

Im normally a 9. I bought a pair of size 9 1460 unisex and their too wide😫just ordered the 1460 smooth leather laceups in size 8 since I was told it runs big..crossing my fingers that I get it right this time!😅

I'm just gonna go ahead and say that these are suitable only as a fashion item. The leather on them is super cheap compared to most other Goodyear welted boots and the welt is kind of tacky as well. The sole is also thin and they lack a wooden shank so after around 6 months they become super bendy and uncomfortable with no real support. Even the made in England ones have kind of bad leather and lack a wooden shank. Instead of getting docs in the future, I would check out solovairs derby boots. They're very similar to the original 70s and 80s Doc martens, made by NPS, the leather is much better quality and the quality and build are heavily superior.

I have 18 pairs of Dr Martens! The only time I ever needed to go up a size was for a vegan pair. They are so uncomfortable I've given up on them. I've never had to wear a pair in yet. Stick to your own shoe size is my opinion for what it's worth

@@bvmarii I personally went down a size in the unisex 1460 smooth leather pair & they fit me perfect.. I have heard that the vegan leather styles fit smaller though. I personally recommend trying on a pair first. Or you can order both sizes and return the pair that do not fit.

@@fairyfreak63 Personally I'd go up. You can always wear thick socks and/or get some inner soles too. If you go for one of the softer leather styles that will make them more comfortable too 😊

I was curious on asking this. By chance do they feel too narrow on your feet or too tight on yours ankles when lacing them up all the way? I am typically a 5.5w or 6w in normal shoes or around 23 cm in shoes (gives me room still) so I might get my first pair of docs in a size 5. I am just curious if i should get unisex or women's ones bc i have a little bit of wide ankles.

They do feel tight when I initially put them on & lace them up, however they do stretch as you wear them for the day. If you have wider feet/ankles I highly recommend getting the unisex pair:)

I do not have the Jadon platforms yet, but Id LOVE to have them! I'm afraid my feet will be too wide :( Thank you for the compliment! I use a Sony ZV1 & I love it!

You should defos get them I thought my feet was going to be to wide for them too but thankfully they fitted totally fine. Best thing you can do is try them on in a store first everyone different but I went down a size from my normal size. No probs! :) aw nice defos will look into that camera it looks really good!

Wish i had seen this before i bought one. So obviously i didnt know the fittings are different between the women and the unisex. I checked so many video reviews and they said for the 1460 (without mentioned women or unisex) better to get a smaller whole size; so i normally wear a 6.5; and i got a women’s 6. They were painfully small; i cant even walk in them that s how small they are. Now i dont know whether to get a unisex 6 or 7. Please help???!!!!

I know it can be super confusing! I would say to go down in size for the unisex 1460. I did & it works well for me! I did have to break them in a little, but they’re great now!

They’re definitely not the most comfortable shoes I own, but I wear thick socks & that helps with the cushioning. With that being said, once they break in I love them! I can wear them without discomfort. Hope that helps!🤪

okie so just for clarification, do you even recommend sizing down in the women’s boots? i am also typically a size 8, but i have narrow feet so i thought that maybe it would be better off to just keep with the women’s. i’m tryna buy mine online, bcs unfortunately the show stories around me don’t carry doc martens :/ also ur v pretty

That stinks you aren't able to try some on before hand... Personally, I do recommend sizing down in this exact style (even if you do purchase the women's version). If you can at all, it would be perfect if you could order both your normal size, and a size down so you can try them on from home, then return which ever size doesn't work for you.

Personally I just bought a pair of women’s docs and I sized down and the shoe is very narrow and my toes are hitting the top of the shoe. I’m taking them back today to go get my normal size or get a unisex style like she has said! Best of luck x

I say get your size which is an 8. I'm also an 8 but with my first pair I sized down to a 7. I had a little wiggle room and it was a tight feeling when wearing thick socks. I've had them for years and still today the boots are uncomfortable. They have stretched but it's not as much as you would expect. I've had mine for about 4-5years now, they fit very) snug when wearing thick socks so, my best advice is getting your size. You can look up doc martens store near your location, or even journeys as they carry the brand. I am also telling you that I've gotten another pair, different leather, the nappa and i got a mens 7 instead of a women's 7 which funny enough is much better. They have more wiggle room but they aren't too big. With thick socks, they feel less big but I still have the feeling of space so not too snug and that's with tying the laces tight. With footwear, you don't want them to just fit, they should have space aswell but not to the point they feel like clown shoes and/or slipping up and down. I'm pretty happy with size I got. My breaking in process was a lot of blisters, I don't get them anymore. The blisters were open, they never bled but they did scar. However scarring has lighted up significantly.

Sorry, but no your wrong! Don't wear thick socks unless you always wear thick socks! It makes it sooooo much harder to break in when you wear thick socks! Just wear your regular socks and it WORKS MUCH better!

The unisex ones don't go down to a womens 6 sadly /: the smallest they go to is a womens 7/ mens 6, I wish they went lower though.

doc martin have not made a decent boot since the 70s .if you are buying them make sure you get the made in england ones . the leather is not dyed all the way through they have brown insides .thoses boots are made in china a total rip off.o yeah a hedge fund owns the company now
