That was a really good comparison Darrin. I like my auto tune saws, although my older Huskys still cut and run great. You’re right about how great the firewood community is. Rest in peace Zeb.

I like the auto tune saws too. I am not porting saws or making significant modifications to them so having the computer control isn't a hinderance for me. As the data showed, the new saws are about 10% faster than the previous generation. Doesn't sound like much but over time it makes a difference.

I saw that you run Stihl. That is the other good brand of saws. Stihl's m-Tronic is a similar design to Auto Tune and they seem to be a bit faster than their older versions as well.

Great video throttle man I know you’re a big Husqvarna fan but my MS 500 steel chainsaw cuts pretty fast. Just wanted to share that with you, but I enjoy watching your videos. Keep throttling it up.

I would agree but as with most engines there is no replacement for displacement. The 500i I believe is around 80cc versus a 572 at around 71-72. The 500i is the only Stihl I have ever ran that revs fast like a Husky. It will be interesting to see if they expand the fuel injection to other classes of saws.

I had the same Oregon bar on my 572xp before switching to the Sugihara/Husqvarna lightweight bar. Is crazy how much of a difference it made in how the saw handles and feels. It feels like a 562xp with a standard bar! Just set a personal best record for amount of wood bucked in a day with the lightweight bar. So much less body fatigue on a lomg day of cutting. I'll never go with a standard bar again if I have a choice.
@woodruffwoods
@woodruffwoods Жыл бұрын
I was seriously shocked by the difference in the feel of the 372xp with that bar. I am right there with you on anything bigger than an 18" bar is going to be a light bar.

I started logging back 25+ yrs ago and started ouy with a 7-10 McCulloch. Then i bought a 346xp which i owed 3 of them. Then bought the 550xp which i still have 4 of them. Then they came out with the 550xp mark ii which i have 1. I also have the 562xp, 357xp, 576xp, and the 572xp. Husqvarna all the way lol. RiP Zeb. Stay safe my friend

I have 2 500i saws and sone smaller saws i would like to sée the diffrence with that largest saw you have compared against the 500i i put.on a 18 inch bar on the ,500 it gets through most of the wood i .cut on the ,on the.other saw i use a 25 inch bar with thr 25 inch with the 18 inch that thing realy screems
@woodruffwoods
@woodruffwoods Жыл бұрын
I don't have someone close by with a 500i or I absolutely would do that video. I do think the 500i has gotten more traction in the firewood community than the logging community. For the same reasons that the professional loggers resist auto tune and mtronic saws, they seem to avoid the 500i. When your miles back in the woods, I believe they value the ability to adjust their saws and do minor repairs. I do see a lot of tree service guys using the 500i.
