Great interview. Interesting man, with a wealth of knowledge and a kind, patient nature. Thanks for this!

Super interesting to hear it was the help of Mears' driving that influenced that diagonal exit Wilson talks about.

Does rob believe smooth is fast or does he believe you should be more aggressive with the car in order to manipulate it, I’ve noticed drivers like Alonso notoriously hack at the wheel sometimes quite violently is this to manipulate the car and get a rotation in terms of the principles rob is talking about?

What does it mean to become one with the surface and transcend the car? Is that better than being one with the car or just becoming one with the tires?

I can not believe it!:)))))

Love this.what does he mean by "flat car" and is shortening the corner...ensuring the car has rotated in Less time ?

"Flat car" means having the car as balanced as possible, with as little weight transfer as possible. "Shortening the corner" is simply taking the shortest distance that still allows max speed.

@@Speedsecrets1 thank you very much for clearing that up for me !

Watch a few of the training videos that people have done in the car with Rob (posted on KZbin). The one by Shmee150 , or Karun Chandhok (Karunracing) and the principles are very well demonstrated.

@@Speedsecrets1 "Shortening the corner" is simply taking the shortest distance that still allows max speed. Could you elaborate on that a bit more? Driving on rounder longer arch allows the car (especially formula 1, which generates more downforce on higher speed) to carry higher speed all the way through the corner. How is that possible to take shorter steeper arch and carry max possible speed at the same time?? These concepts of "short corner" and "shortening the corner" isn't still quite clear to me. From other videos with Rob I get that shortening the corners means, shortening the time you spend with the turned steering wheel, and maximizing the time you spend with the straighten steering wheel, which effectively longers the straight. Isn't short cornering about sacrificing some minimal speed on the apex for the benefit of the better exit, faster acceleration all the way through the longer straight?
