A lot of people saying Nico is a 'bottler' by not defending. It's obvious to see that F1 was never all consuming for him like it is for other drivers. One title is all he wanted, he's done it, it's family time now. Good guy.

I find it hard to believe that Rosberg would have retired had he won the title in 2014, when the Mercedes dominance was expected to continue in 15 and 16. I believe some of what he is saying, but the idea of Merc not being so far out front next year has definitely influenced his decision.

He has get married and got kid since 2014. Pressure was lot, lot higher this year than 2014 or 2015, and he said this was easily his hardest season. And also he first thinked retirement 2 months ago.

sota59 I get all that and that's fair enough. It's just his "my goal was always to win one championship, and now I've done that" line. Lets be honest he fell over the line against Lewis, and he knows he probably won't beat him again. If he'd beaten Lewis in 14 he would have continued, imo.

I know some ppl like ruthless racing drivers as they lable them as the "best " kind of racing driver ... i think "backing up" the pace trying to change the race outcome is very debatable in the sense of sporting behaviour. the point being lewis wasnt "racing" at that point. When you think of great British drivers that wouldnt do that you could imagine Surtees, Clark, Stewart, maybe Nigel wouldnt event think about grazing the line of "unsportsmanlike behaviour" in that situation (i think they were more about the "get on with it phylosphy"). In this vid u hear some opinions like is ok and "most" would do like Lewis... not Jenson, Felipe Mika or Kimi. I heard some Journalist aplauding the ruthlessness and the bag of tricks some drivers have ( Shumi, Alonso, Senna, Piquet maybe ) but i wonder what is your take Peter on the stance on a real champion should take when they are in the backfoot and could use questionable trickery to change their outcome. i know its in the spice of the sport having such characters and situations, F1 is a sport and a soap opera and is enriched and fueled by controversy. ty hi from Peru o/

Kudos to Peter for politely shutting down Rob's attempted put down of Lewis. re: the Paddy Lowe stuff...
