148 - Take Off (0-55)

This is last years Vision. It's a 2015 Blue Bird Vision and let me just say it... slow, weak, and gutless. These are some of the bad route buses. They are slow to begin with, yet when they are loaded.. they are even worse. They can barely make it up hills, with or without a load. I just can't stand them. I try to steer clear of them.
It's equipped with a 6.7 Cummins and an Allison 2500.

Gone. School buses are set to ECON mode, meaning they are literally limited to the power they can use. It’s stupid but if they did not do this instead of getting an average of 9 mpg they would get 1. Because usually after a stop it’s to the floor.

in areas that use kilometers instead of miles they need the higher numbers. 70 mph is about 120 kilometers. Those extra numbers come in handy.

I wonder why it isn't able to make 2600 rpms. I was kind of expecting that. That is pathetic if I do say so myself. I have been dying to see how well the 2015 Visions do but now that I have seen it, it breaks my heart to see something that use to be fast turn slow. The second generations would really put this thing to shame. Wouldn't you agree *****?

Economy mode is likely on. I think the mechanics have to disable it. Not 100% sure on that though.

These transmissions were programmed to shift at an earlier schedule to save fuel. So yeah, they are in an economy mode set in the transmission parameters.

9sb19 actually Allison is pared for the engines performance the engine and transmission work hand in hand for rpm and tourqe management for this specific Cummins engine so the tramission even in eco mode doesn't cut the engines power you can even here the engine is cut back on throttle be Aus I normal Cummins bus operating range is 2500 rpm even with eco mode so. We have some of these in my county and they are actually quite fast...but the rev limiter on ours is at about 2500 RPM, our's still have the same engine of course, but it must be another spec'd version, if you get what I'm saying.

Garrett Moseley actually to educate you the Cummins 6.7l which is what's in these buses the engine it's self is governed at 2850 rpm But your county might have something called a speed activated governed not a rev limiter pal
