Good video G and whatever videos you want to put out whether it’s short form or long format I’m good with whatever works better for you. Thanks for sharing brother it’s always appreciated 👊🏼

I do like this short form video so please continue making them. Would be too small for me as well. Extra Large gloves fit my hands best. Thank you & maybe, when time permits, update the hardness on the ones tested in the shorter videos.

I'll do a hardness batch video of 6 to 8 together.

Haven't been a big fan of that full length fuller like this one has on most knives. Keep on with the short form and maybe catch up with a hardness testing when you get a chance to poke them as a batch.

Love the video! To echo someone else’s sentiment, I actually like the shorter format for knives that are a normal grind, normal heat treat, etc. It’s still good to see how each brand does, but some stuff doesn’t need to be there if it’s a straight forward analysis. I think longer format is good when there’s something different about it worth expanding on. Examples: if the hrc is lower/higher than we typically see, if it’s super thin/thick bte, etc, multiple knives, etc.

Glad you finally got to it! Yeah, the size wasn't right for me either. I also had to make a fill tab for the clip slot since the G10 is thin and was starting to crack from the screws. Nice to know their 14C28N is okay. I'd love to see more 14C28N tested, especially from Civivi. Short form is fine with me!

@@chronovore3726 mine cracked from the clip screw. Poor design on that part but felt good in the hand otherwise
@Outpost_76Ай бұрын
It reminds me of the Sog Salute that used the same clip style and those also broke the g10 and became an issue.
@chronovore3726Ай бұрын
@@thaknobodi I appreciate that they tried a different clip attachment but the void is a problem. I had a bit of thick polypropylene or something that was close. So I cut and sanded it to the right size, drilled the screw hole in the right spot, and filled the void. I just wish I thought to do it before the G10 started to crack. 😅

Good video as always! Very happy with the short format. Especially if it fits your schedule better ATM. Definitely interested in a hardness test roundup if you can squeeze one in later down the line

I love your cut tests,and hearing the results,I hope someday you do some Rex 121 tests,that would be cool!
@stevenlachance8576Ай бұрын
Like the short format for established steels. Like the longer format for “new” steels. If you do a Rex 121 Spyderco for instance I’d like to see the full monte with hardness, that doesn’t sound right but I hope you get the point. Also would like to see PD1 and rex76 and other new steels in longer format. Been on a twosun run and got a few in YJ01-V1 let me know if that interests you. Thx for your tests.

I did test one of those for LTK but I'm open to test more to see how its continuing to be treated.

Did you publish the yj01? I’ll pick one out for you.

Watching eagerly for the results. Looks exactly like the one i had a couple years ago. Orange Gmascus. I wear a medium glove and these fit my hand well, along with most 3" blade folders. Larrin rates 8Cr13mov and 14C28N at 3/10 edge retention, but Sandvik is getting 100 feet more?
@CNYKnifeNutАй бұрын
Larrin's test samples were all the same exact geometry. Geometry is the biggest variable in edge retention. This kind of testing is still valuable (all data is), but Larrin's work was legit science.

I think I need to talk about this in a video. There are some things that do matter. I've tried a couple times to test an Opinel. The issue both time was with such a thin blade at .003 bte it cuts still even when dull. I have some other examples that directly show the difference in hardness and heat treat with the same model just 2 to 3 points of hardness difference.
@tacticalcenter8658Ай бұрын
Larrins tests are not going to reflect factory. They use different heat treatment protocols, techniques, and equipment.

I love some of PF designs but they are always a bit clunky/heavy in the pocket such a bummer
@BladeLabMiamiАй бұрын
May have seen you mention it before, but can you explain your criteria for fine edge and working edge?
@Outpost_76Ай бұрын
Fine edge is when it will no longer shave arm hair, working edge is from that point until it no longer slices 20 pound weight printer against the grain. I may go through in a video and talk about testing and what data to compare with others who test.
@floraly8829 күн бұрын
Fine edge means that it's still shaving, right?
@Outpost_7628 күн бұрын
Yes
@floraly8828 күн бұрын
@@Outpost_76 Alright. Your channel showed me that I'm definitely doing something wrong. I get a good razor edge but it's gone after only a few cuts (the working edge stays for a long time tough). And I always thought it's maybe the steel or heat treat but now I saw in your vids that even cheapo knives hold the "fine edge" for many cuts.
