We assemble new liner kits, install them and measure the protrusion. Now well on our way to installing the head...

Really good video thanks

Great video, very helpful, although a pair of candle sticks would help to avoid that the piston slip out of the bottom, it would be a mess if it happened. Again thank you so much for this procedure, though much easier on 12.7 PRE EGR engines

I don't remember which kit we put in this. We only have used one PAI kit and didn't like it. All the others we have done and shop manager has done in 30 years have been genuine oem rebuild kits. There is definitely a noticeable difference in quality from oem to aftermarket. My personal opinion is if you can find oem kits in a timely fashion I would stick with them.

got the same engine in my truck, going through 2 gallons of coolant a day. what tools do i need to buy to inframe mine at home?
@GavinS6 Жыл бұрын
2 torque wrenches. a big one that is capable of 365 ft lbs for the mains. and one for the smaller stuff like rod caps and cam caps. liner puller and liner installer and ring compressor. basic hand tools after that. mostly 12 point bolts in this engine. can pin the engine with a screw driver and time the cam the same way. last thing you will really need is a manual for specs and sequences and general knowledge.

i would also find a depth gauge for checking liner protrusion. if you have dropped liners headgaskets won't ever last.
