@@amysestak You may want to LOOK AGAIN (at about the 4.30 mark). He lifts OFF the top half (with burger, cheese and bacon... The tomato is on the bottom 'half', sitting on the lettuce and base bun. You can see 'juices or oils' dripping down (from what I suspect is the cheese and burger, but NOT the tomato!). EDIT: I'm in London and you can get some fantastic, homemade burgers (with chips) for lunch at half the price - Yes, I know I'm maybe comparing 'apples and oranges', because of staff wages and 'sit down' diner overheads, but £20 + for that burger, chips and drink is not cheap! They would be comparable to some London prices that many complain about.

What I don't understand is why you didn't complain about the grease/oil and allow them to correct the mistake. If nothing else you could have got a price reduction for the poor standard of food. As a former chef, and in my opinion, that food was totally unacceptable for the price. Scribbles should be ashamed of themselves.

Just checked with a local diner that we havent been to in a while. I love their beef liver and onions. Comes with soup, salad, potato, and bread. Oh and a slice of spinach pie. All that used to cost $10.95 US. As of yesterday it now costs $19.99 US. So that cancelled that idea. Then i looked up my favorite Italian place to see if they've gone up too. Price for spaghetti and meatballs used to be $10.95, the meatballs are huge and you get 3. Comes with salad and garlic rolls. Now its $20.00. doubled in price. Sodas are $4.00 and thats just ridiculous. Its gotten so ridiculously overpriced that we cant afford to eat out unless the restaurant is having a special. We only do special occasions now. Its a shame.

We had burger and chips cooked in the air fryer served with salad for two people and coast me in total £6.00 and I made the burgers myself . I watched that burger dripping and nearly threw up! I felt worse when you squished the chips! I would have complained, I don't do it often as don't like conflict. Once I did stand up in the middle of a restaurant and held my plate up showing the diners I had two white tablets in my salad! I told them to all stop eating! I got chucked out.

Great to see you all out having a meal, what a shocker though when you think of the quality and value of the Ragged Apron. Since the Pandemic so many places have got sloppy and are over expensive. So many places here on the Isle of Wight charge £15+ for a Burger meal £16+ for a Roast and many places charge over £3 for a coffee. It's no wonder people have Open Wallet Surgey. Crikey, I would have sent those chips back and told them that the burger was tasteless. I always have tap water when I go out for a meal, drink prices are ridiculous. They should be encouraging people to buy soft drinks to avoid drink driving but unfortunately they rip us off over here. In USA soft drinks are unlimited 😊😊. The oil on the chips may have been chilly oil which is drizzled on after cooking. I don't understand why you didn't complain when it was served? You didn't give the restaurant a chance to rectify the problem

Haven't even finished watching yet. Just up to Martin showing us what constitutes his mega bucks Burger and Chips but...I can categorically say that we'd end up just having an (over priced!) coffee and we'd do the Off! 😢19 quid for burger and chips?!!! Scandalous! I think these places should be ashamed of themselves, charging high end prices for very average food. We're natural tight wads: 2 lunches for £10.99 at a local Brewers Fayre or a Carvery does us during the week! Somewhere like the Apron would be right up our street! I'm not one to complain usually (but did recently at Miller & Carter, well just said something wasn't very nice when asked "How is your food?" = refunded us, which we said wasn't necessary (nice one M&C!)), but I'd have sent back those chips. Is it just me that cops the hump all night if my meal's a disappointment?? 🍔

It was a review, We always finish the food unless it is inedible. The point of finishing it is to see if it fills you up. No we don't complain, the point is to review without them knowing so you don't get special service and to see what the food is like. On this occasion, the burger and fries were not worthy of the price in my opinion. Others have said the same.

Trafford Center, Manchester has a restaurant that charges just over £10 for a burger. Mind you just walked into a railway station take away and was going to purchase a bottle of water, then walked out. £2.69. Walked further along and went into Boots and paid just under a pound.

£17 for a burger and fries what a rip off. I make my own burgers with 5% fat mince, a bit of onion, a few breadcrumbs and an egg to bind it together. Each burger costs less than a pound if I buy the mince at the full price, which is very rare as most of the time I use mince that's reduced by 30% or 60% meaning that each burger can cost as little as 50p. In Jan 2023 I got 4Kg of 5% mince for 90p per 400g pack, the mince was use by that day,2/1/23 but each burger that I made cost about 23p each. I also made 20 mince and onion pies with two packs of the mince with each pie costing about 15p per pie as the 2Kg of flour, I bought from a site that sells food that is excess or just out of the best before date was 5p per Kg and the Marg was 99p. If possible I never pay full price for anything.

Coming from living on the south coast, most burger and chips at pubs are now around the £15 bracket. What gets me is that you only get the burger and small fries on the plate, no garnish so it makes it look as if not enough effort has gone into it. I understand the cost of living crisis but at least make it feel like its worth it. We all used to know the large difference in the price of supermarket booze vs pub prices, I guess it now looks like that difference between food is also increasing.

Eww them chips were discudting and very greasy and the burger didn't look great either, Sharons pizza looked lovely .. i would of sent my burder and chips back and complained about it. Takecare xx❤

A nice nod to the MacMaster. You were in a restaurant. At the end of the day you ordered 2 hot baguettes at 7 quid each and pizza and a burger at £15 a pop and you all cleared your plates. What were you hoping for? You can't have too many complaints, apart from the chips. See you next time folks.

@@butlersempire Burgers are bland by nature, that's why restaurants put all those different toppings on. When I do a BBQ for family and friends I rarely cook burgers for that reason.

I live in Elgin and visit Scribbles often.I haven’t had one of their burgers but everything i’ve had has been spot on.The pizzas are very nice

The funny thing is you make some similar items at home in your air fryers that look so much better than that and Cost a third of the price for two of you 👍 what a rip-off . With the nasty greasy chips and put back in the fire for a minute must’ve been already cooked and put back in for a minute and then dumped in your ramekin

I would not have been happy,frozen French fries cooked in cold oil,beef overcooked in the burger, and never get a burger with Monterey cheese no taste, needs American, Cheddar,or Blue cheese,fried,or raw onions would be nice.

My burger and fries meal was there for all to see. We in no way rubbished the restaurant but pointed out a valid issue compared to other burger places in Elgin where we reviewed. Humble Burger and the Beach Hut At Lossimouth. Both of these places were a lot more tastier and cheaper. Our review was how it happened on the day. Others have also said the same thing so there might me something that needs looking into. The pizza was very good as was the service but no one mention's that. It wasn't a matter of complaining, we were there for a review of the food and it wasn't up to scratch on that occasion.

@@butlersempire I have worked in kitchens Martin and please let me asure you that you are very wise in not sending stuff back unless you are both very valued regular customers and this is a one off. I do know what I have seen back of house from personal experiences and in your positionI wouldn't send back either - I also would not have paid for it at the end. I very much doubt if they would persue it either especially in lieu of the evidence you now have in this clip.
