One big reason I-45 would be rerouted on to I-10 and US 59 (future I-69) is because when I-45 was built on the Pierce elevated, the interstate was squeezed between buildings (notice the extremely narrow right-of-way). Also, as far as I know right now, TXDoT only has I-69 signed around Houston outside of I-610 in Houston (from I-610 west to Rosenberg and from I-610 north to the Splendora area).

+MKT Transport Video It's not a bad town despite so many reports to the contrary. One of Houston's biggest negative (imo) which the city has no control over, would be the oppressive summers the other is the lack of any real public transit system (yes, I see the irony of posting such a comment on a video celebrating the highway systems).
@darnelljr70609 жыл бұрын
+cameraman655 I don't mind the summers or the lack of public transit. It's the sprawling, disorganized mess that I personally don't care for. Houston is great but would be even better if there were more planning and it hadn't annexed so much land.

Great video. The fact that you drove 42 miles in 45 minutes with that much traffic is a testament to how well designed those freeways are. I agree with you about the lighting. Does TxDOT handle all of the lighting or is it contracted out? Whoever is in charge is doing a great job. Wish they would come up to Calgary and take care of ours. Better yet, I wish we could hire TxDOT to design and build our roads. The people of Texas are blessed to have a transportation department that builds what the vast majority of commuters want.

Also they built a ramp going from 290 (SB) parallel to the 610 loop that is four lanes wide that take you straight to I-10 east/west without even getting on 610. In addition, they'll probably keep the expressway currently designated I-45 and re-designate it as a 3-digit interstate highway. Like maybe I-745 or I-945 or something. Also likely is what Jim said in the text commentary that the city will tear it down and turn it into a municipal park. That might be a better idea especially for the environment. More trees to convert the CO2 into O2.

I have half changed my mind about the future downtown houston project... I redesigned what I had desogned.. and not pierce shall not be demolished but reconstructed.. but.. the pierce would only be for through traffic... the us-59 elevated demolished and put underground (I feel bad for the ones who'll need to pay to pump water out... when it rains) but yeah.. whilst the traffic going from the 45 south and 10 west to the 59 would go parallel to the 10 instead of the us 59/45 intercjange... and the downtown connections would be made with extended frontage roads to separate traffic earlier... just saying not to bother but... I'm sorry... if you don't understand what I did I'm sorry but even I had a hard time explaining...
@Dan_10228 жыл бұрын
as well as making some type of permanent exhibition unerneath the pierce interesting enough so that people would want to go and it would not have an ugly look underneath the pierce... idk.....
@lemondude61748 жыл бұрын
Danny1022 The elevation of Houston is too low (close to sea lvl) to have anything underground in general. That's why houses here don't have basements.
@Dan_10228 жыл бұрын
+Lemondude617 my plan was to originally leave both elevated highways the piece and the US 59.. by I redesigned and put the 59 underground just so everyone would shut up about elevated highways being ugly so left the pierce up and the 59 underground but I still agree with you... I'd not put underground stuff... But everyone I shared her I did criticised the redesign I made of it since I kept the elevateds up...so I made a different.. it's actually also because if you dig less than a metre you'd find water and the water isn't absorbed by the earth so easily so with every rain it gets flooded... but i honestly agree with you not with everyone else who thinks that they can make a highway tunnel and a Houston version of the London underground... sorry...

2:44 I hate when roads merge into one without any room. I mean it helps that the speed limit cuts in half but the design is just stupid.

I agree, and it's worse in the opposite direction heading to I-45 North.

+the diamond pro Minecraft I find that almost every merge lane in Texas at least in large cities are never more than 500 feet. Sometimes I wonder what the engineers were thinking since despite the eye candy interchanges and wide roads, they can't be bothered to make more merge space. Pierce Elevated (Houston), Stemmons Freeway (Dallas) are what come to mind.
