@JMMT70228018 жыл бұрын
Dallas is the largest metropolitan area in Texas. It's very clean, modern, and cosmopolitan, with a thriving arts, bar, club, and restaurant scene. Houston is pretty boring if you ask me.
@shumingliu45508 жыл бұрын
JMMT7022801 So, it's better to live in Dallas than in Houston. But actually people say every place in Texas is boring compared to California.
@JMMT70228018 жыл бұрын
To be honest with you, Houston has virtually no public transportation - everything's so spread out. It gets very hot and humid in the summertime, and is flood prone due to its close proximity to the Gulf of Mexico. Dallas is far from boring. You should check out the Addison-North Dallas area, Uptown, Oaklawn, Highland Park areas.

“Organized and clean”? Uh... I love Houston, but that’s just simply not true. Houston’s urban fabric is very unpredictable and chaotic. Without zoning ordinances, developers can just build whatever they want, wherever they want. It’s a big free for all, and as a result there’s a serious lack of organization. It’s both a pro and a con. It keeps things interesting at least. Maybe in the suburbs it’s organized and clean, but in Houston-proper? No way.

@MrSosruc6 жыл бұрын
Well you asked to answer. If you need public transportation, don't go to Houston, it is true. But if you are independent, most homes driveways packed with 4 cars and freeways are best. Very humid hot... for 3 summer months, rest of the year is way better than everywhere else. i used to it very quickly and I can't imagine myself in the north where I was with flu all winters and scenes with car crashes on youtube are shocking me... Life is less stressed here, homes way cheaper, money comes in with less efforts... You have city here, wealthy suburbs, beaches and miles of walkable seawall blvrd, intl airport and seaport. Houston is not for anyone, just like there's no place for all. But there's a reason why it is home for mlns.
@Brewzerr5 жыл бұрын
Public transportation/transit is definitely the one area where Houston is WAY behind. They are adding new rail lines and expanding existing rail lines, but it’s all a bit late in the game. The city SHOULD have had the current lines in place about 35 years ago. It’s going to take a lot of work to get caught up to where it needs to be. It also doesn’t help that Houston keeps annexing more and more suburban areas. That puts a huge strain on infrastructure and slows down progress. Other than that though, Houston is a great and vastly underrated city.

Houston was my city for a brief couple of years. I'd consider coming back. 1. Diverse city, but is there cooperation and harmony among all those different groups? 2. Keep working on mass transit. Glad to see the progress that's been made since I left. 3. Keep Houston affordable. 4. Keep providing a wide diversity of jobs in a wide diversity of industries.
@neiandresamuels54284 жыл бұрын
All 4 of those are Non existent now 1. Surprisingly Diversities somewhat get along but not all the way. 2.Houston still hasn't built a Commuter rail system, and most likely ever wont because they rely on the oil industry for their For their Economic profits, an to keep the oil and.industry going, the city would have to be car centric...so they ain't build No Rails anytime soon. 3. Houston is getting very expensive...of course with Mostly blue collar jobs, lack of zoning things will be cheap but its just gonna get nor expensive 4 there is no wide Diversity of jobs in Houston... It's all oil,Gas, medicine, Shipping, Construction or aero space..that's about it

That's a bit too much spotlight to be shined on Houston. There's better cities in Texas, such as Austin, San Antonio, Fort Worth, and Corpus Christi. Yes, Houston is the most populous city in Texas, and the 4th in the U.S. No, that does not mean it's the best city in the world. To be honest, I don't personally imagine that there's one particular 'best' city in the world, but there are a few cities I highly recommend, and enjoyed while visiting/living. Well, I've only lived in one city in my life-time. I won't specify it, but I'll just say it's located in the heart of Texas.

Ahsuhyah Arts You are VERY misinformed. I take the METRORail to work every day; from my home to the university where I teach graduate level business classes. Being that I teach business, I have proven research that proves your misinformed assumption wrong, regarding lack of business diversity and variety. Houston comes in 2nd place to headquarters of Fortune 500 companies; NYC is #1. Houston is the most diverse city in the USA. More than 90 languages are spoken here. And, Houstonians stuck up??? REALLY?! When ANY disaster happens, ANYWHERE, Houston is the first city to step up to the plate. Houston is a business-minded city; therefore, we don’t have time for fakeness, like I’ve experienced in Dallas. And, only Houstonians and Louisianais like Houston, really??? So, explain all the people that move here, daily for California, the upper Midwest, and the Northeast. Houston is the fastest growing city in Texas. Before you start making negative comments, of which know absolutely nothing about, do your research. Your lack of doing so, shows your ignorance on Houston. Oh yeah, Houstonians will be direct, blunt and to the point. If that makes us rude, so be it. Regarding flooding, that ONE you got correct. Very few tornadoes here, though. Dallas definitely has its share of them. Oh yeah, almost forgot...yesterday, my family and I went to Pleasure Island AMUSEMENT Park in Galveston. I’m currently responding to you from Kemah Boardwalk AMUSEMENT Park. Maybe you should begin your Houston research by doing field study and visit a different amusement park, daily, which includes a couple of water parks. That’ll keep you busy for 5 days. Now, that you’ve been informed, and you continue to make unfounded statements, you will move from ignorance to stupidity. Then, the laugh will be on me. However, I’m too much of a professional to laugh AT someone, regardless of how deserving it might be. After you’ve done your Houston research, let’s communicate again.
@neiandresamuels54284 жыл бұрын
@@kgbourghs firs off Kemah pier is nothin to boast about..and Dallas rarely gets tornados...in 2018 Dallas area got 0 Tornados. People in Houston will talk nice in your face and talk about you behind your back. Where as people in Dallas just dgaf about you or your feelings.. Dallasans mind their business. Houston is not the fastest growing city especially when the metro are only gains an average of 90k resident a years and DFW gets and average of 200k Residents a year. Your lack of understanding and your pride makes your statement ignorant. Houston's Economy Is in diverse and has very little to fall back on. Once oil dies Houston will be relying on just shipping to get by. okay majority of your statements are false. Houston is not the fastest growing city in Texas,..people in Houston are fake af and everyone knows it..people there can't be trusted And Houston isn't the most diverse..because in NYC there's over 800 language spoken.. Houston can't be the most diverse city when the metro Population is only 7million vs NYC metro Population that's over 20million. Houston Is a blue collar city... .nothing business minded about it. Also what are you talking about "when a disaster strike"? The disaster happens in Houston..Houston ain stepping up to no plate.. You make it sound like Houston is some hero city that saves the day. Yet Houston is the largest city without commuter rail system. And Houston has a higher crime rate and lack of zoning laws. Not to mention Large Pests and pollution issues Houston relys on oil to get by. Hence why the city won't invest in Public transit. So maybe you should do more research instead of just talking out the side of your neck

The quality of life in Houston has taken a nosedive with the massive influx of people since the 2008 financial crisis. People need to leave their old attitudes in their failed places of origin. Just because it was fashionable to act like a self-important mook back in Ohio doesn't mean you should bring that show with you when you come to Texas. Come to learn, or stay where you are.

I’ve got news for ya... Houston has been getting massive influxes of new residents since long before 2008. I’m 53 years old, and clearly remember the big boom of the late 70’s and early 80’s, when Houston was not only the fastest growing city in America, but in the world. That boom period put the post-2008 one to shame. However, the point is that only a very tiny percentage of Houstonians can trace their ancestry back any further than 3 generations in Houston. The city has ALWAYS grown through boom and bust cycles, and any time there’s a boom period you’re going to get a lot of that “Well that’s how we did it back in ________” shit. Eventually those people adjust and change their tune. Point is, if you choose to live in Houston, then you’d better get used to transplants and their attitudes. That’s just the nature of things in a rapidly growing city.
@Brewzerr5 жыл бұрын
CaesarinVa - Right, because before the sophistication, culture, and arts and literature capital of the universe... Ohio... enlightened all us knuckledragging yokels and taught us how to walk upright, it was just one big backwater trailer park. It is nick-named the bayou-city, what are you talking about? Also Space City and Clutch City and of Course H-Town. :)
@HarrisonJBounel6 жыл бұрын
@Fightlikabrave The only people who call Houston "the bayou city" are tv news people or similar that just moved here recently. No self respecting native Houstonion calls it that. We call it H-town, space city or many other things EXCEPT bayou city.

Rhode Island is 1,214 square miles, and it’s by far the nation’s smallest state. Houston is just over 600 square miles, so this makes no sense.

More like the South West vs the deep south. My opinion, the deep south is Louisiana, Miss & Alabamba. Texas is more SW like Arizona and New Mexico. I moved to Htown from the West Coast 10 years ago.
