The backlight issue might have been due to power draw from the laptop port. And you may be able to use a DP - USB C cable to use G-Sync through your desktop. Great vid as always! Keep up the good work man.

There are so many Portable Monitors out there. I think you convinced me to buy this one. I'm looking for a Monitor, mostly for playing games. I don't think this is made of of metall (aluminum) looks like plastic in my eyes. I want to connect my Nintendo Switch to play on bigger screen. I think this could be a good device for my needs. But i heard some complains about the remote, which is included. Some costumers told that the remote function isn't working at all...

Do you know what the g-sync range is, I can't find this anywhere, also the freesync range? Is there any practical way to have it stand up in TATE mode (ie rotated on side)? My plan for it would be for retro arcade games that use vertical screens, and g sync to correctly sync all the weird and wonderful various refresh rates of old arcade games. That's why I need a low G Sync range, from 30hz preferably but no more than 40. Most real g sync monitors are 30, but I don't know whether this is just g sync compatible or has the actual g sync hardware module inside. PS the monitor page says G sync is only over USBC which is why you couldn't get it. Cheers.

The problem with lot of these monitors is that they are limited on what phones are compatible with them...One Plus, Realme x2Pro and pixel phones are not working on Lebow brand monitors..iPhones need special adaptor... unfortunately you won't know what phones work until you buy the monitor and try it...

I guess the deciding factor between the two is not the specs/performance but price. Like you can 2 or even 3 of these for the same price as Asus XG17AHP @ 500usd. Factor in the taxes for countries outside the US and it will go up to 500usd+ easily. But yeah, the ROG portable monitor is hype. Just sad for guys like me who's budget conscious.

The issue with G-Sync is the monitor isn’t compatible with that. It has FreeSync, which is AMD’s version of the same tech. If you’ve got nVidia, you won’t be able to get g-sync on that monitor and if you did, it wouldn’t work as well as intended.

Nice vid. I ended up purchasing one off the HK website because of it. I noticed that when hooked up to an Xbox One X I’m able to set it at 1440p, but unable to get the same on PC via USB C or Mini HDMI and custom resolution. Are you able to test this?

The amazon link - shows a UHD 4K IPS Portable Display @ 60Hz - is that the correct one or did they change it? My guess is that if it is correct that you should get the 165hz refresh rate if you reduce the resolution to 1080p

There are both. Its just out of stock. When the 1080p one goes out of stock it takes you to the 4k one. I only know cuz I got a used one and when I click on it it only takes me to the 4k one

Hi , hi it's an issue whether a low and phones with type c are the high end phones with the type c whether the connect to this display or not. The features of this display are good enough. But we want to carry this display as this is a portable display. So cracking of the display due to other hardware items scaring me. They should have given a hard screen surface protecting sheet instead of the soft carrying sleeve. We have to think of a custom-made aluminium case to protect this monitor.

(Freesync connect by HDMI and G-sync connect by type-c port).

You actually can use open g-sync through hdmi 2.1(which this doesn’t have), g-sync ultimate is the one that needs Dp but it also needs the full module.

@@papaannefranku9693 There really is only G-Sync or G-Sync Compatible. There is the superset of G-Sync Ultimate as well, but that just refers to what NVIDIA is calling the best experience for G-Sync monitors. It is a newer version of the module, but it's still G-Sync. NVIDIA did release a driver update that added VRR support (i.e. G-Sync Compatible) over HDMI, but it's mostly supported by TV's only. Even then it only works with RTX and GTX 16-Series cards.

you can use type c to type c connector to activate g sync. but only aorus 2060 extreme from the 2060 series, all rtx 2060 super, rtx 2070/super and 2080/super graphics card are equipped with virtual link (usb type c). that's why andydjangoo can't because he is using gtx 1070 with no virtual link(usb type c)

There are a lot of g-story product, which is all almost the same , including "gaming" tagline. It is confusing. We all know, gaming in ps 4 and pc is quite diffrent. In pc you need good respond time. Can you suggest me, any g-story product code. With minimum 15 inch, 1080p, type c, and good respond time ?

is it possible to compare to the gst 156? seems identical from spec sheets. edit: 165hz is buggy on this display. wierd hitching happens, and is hard to detect unless using the UFO test. 144hz is much smoother. possibly a problem with the USB-c cable. but I can confirm that 165hz has issues.

its 240hz, sure, but other than that it's nearly identical, uses a panel from the same manufacturer, doesnt have gsync, and costs over double what this does. I bought this over the strix specifically for that reason.
