Perfect fit/finish, great UI, 660 lumens (w 14500), choice of TWO tailcaps (both can 'table stand') ,. So much versatility, so rugged n waterproof. Also comes w a rechargeable(port in battery) 14500 n a diffuser. All this for LESS than $30. Best Christmas gift. Worth checking out. Blessings.

I agree with most of what you say. In fact I have learned a lot from you. However I have seen two of those cold steel wooden handles split in two. "Losing your knife is not the end of the world." "A knifeless man is a lifeless man." Yes I know "One is none." But it isn't always adhered to. Losing your knife loses a lot more than the monetary value of that knife.

P.s. it depends on the survival situation i say on what type of material you want to go with. Stealth camps would be essential if say social breakdown occurred and it were people that became the danger. But seriously, check out the Arcturus, or other highly reinforced emergency tarps that can handle a load. These "price point" items that people may need to put their lives in the hands of are not worth them ripping on a twig because you couldn't get it tight. I only spent maybe double the price of a regular mylar e-blanket and it's such an added peace of mind that i can make shelter in almost any condition. Tbh, watch Les Stroud review survival kits and his own kits. He says it all. Some things shouldn't be bought as a side thought in a kit, you should buy a quality brand.

The SOL that I chose is one that is occasionally tough to come by, the Escape Bivvy. Good vehicle or rucksack emergency blanket that seems more tear resistant and with a zipper. Add a sleeping bag or sleeping bag liner to it and it would be a good choice or this list.

Hello my friend! I'm just now getting around to watching videos I've missed. I have a few comments on this one.. I wouldn't trust my life to some of this gear. The heavy survival blanket is good, but ow they make others with grommets, so those are better. As you said the SOL BivvyBag is good, just not a complete solution. I'd rather have the heavy survival blanket in my glovebox myself. Ultralight backpackers CAN use it as part of a sleep system. I've got little use for the standard old school mylar blankets these days. Even the ones painted in fun colors. You might carry one as an extra, if you already have them (which most people will, so why not? Could use it as a dropcloth, fireback or something I note that your PowerFilm thing is no longer available. There are other brands. I recommend on between 20-40 watts, and it doesn't NEED to have foldable cells, as long as the panel folds up (MUCH cheaper). One important feature is at least two USB connectors. With a 10-20 watt panel, you might spend all day charging your phone up, then not having time to charge up your weather radio, or flashlight, or..? With a slightly bigger panel and multiple USB plugs, you have an actual utility. I hate THOSE UCO candle lanterns. Candles are messy in the first place. That thing adds glass to my pack, and a spring loaded corny candle holder that leaks melted was. No thank you. I advise the little candle in the can things. The candle stays sealed until you need it, so you shouldn't ever open your pack and find everything coated in melted wax. No glass to break, it reseals, no spring loaded mechanisms. This thing WOULD be a good replacement for a hurricane candle lantern (which uses a pillar candle, or the much smaller tealight candle lanterns, if it wasn't for that stupid spring mechanism that only works sometimes. I didn't know Silky made a cheap banana saw!! You can usually find a decent one at your local hardware store. I'll check out the one you posted though. :) The Titan StormProof matches are the only ones worth carrying. You can make top notch firestarters out of cotton balls and vaseline. No harm buying premade stuff, though. I particularly like that waxwood thing, because it looks like it would be easy to carve something you might need in a pinch, in addition to being a firestarter. :) I've got no time for alternative sparking devices. Give me a 6 inch long 1/2 inch wide ferrocerium rod and call it done. I wouldn't mind that big block of magnesium, though I wouldn't depend on that little ferro rod attached to it. That seems like a safety hazard anyway. If that big block of magnesium ignites, it's going to burn a hole to the earths core. That Morakniv clone looks nice, but I can't imagine why anyone would try to make a cheaper Morakniv. Is it better somehow? I've got zero interest in the other knife. If you're going to carry a small knife like that, it ought to be at least half tang, if not full tang. That's a neat little flashlight. Does it have as many modes as the NiteCore keychain light and headlamp? If you're going to carry one light, I recommend one of those two, but if you need a little pen light this looks like a really good option. Best I've seen. Whenever Rite-in-the-rain gets too expensive, just look for rock paper. I don't hate that shovel, but I prefer the U.S. Military ones for their utility. I mean, an entrenching tool with a pick built in is kind of a shoe-in for first prize. BearFlare is awesome. Wish you would have given us some audio on the noise it makes. Take care! I hope your doing well!

The solar panels seem very useful. I'm not a prepper, I don't bother with extreme scenarios like having to live in the forest. But I'm a bit concerned for more mundane situations like loss of power and water. I think it's a pretty huge issue for modern society that if the power goes out - people who don't have any extra power sources will quickly lose all ability to contact others via phone or computer. Extra battery packs will only last you so long. You could charge shit from your car but if you don't have one you'd be screwed. So a solar panel would be a very useful thing to have in your emergency kit at home.

Night vision & thermal vision. Also a good thing to show using thermal vision is how the mylar blankets conceals you.
@DeadlyTigers4 жыл бұрын
Issue with both of those, are battery consumption and price tags. not to mention durability. The high quality thermal cameras are not only expensive, but have a huge vulnarable lens, which is also extrememly expensive, so having spares would be hard. Night vision, Battery issues is your main foe, as in a FUBAR situation, you won't have a practical wall plug to charge your NV, so that'd be a challenge

A school pencil sharpen, one of those cheap plastic, size of a quarter ones, is a good thing to have with a spark starter. If nothing else as a backup for a lack of a lost knife. I drill a hole to attach a string to help tie it on to something larger, usually like a orange whistle, just to keep up with it, with dead twigs the right size still on the tree, picking them off, you can get some good dry shavings. Aren't exactly German standard made, but doesn't need to be to shave wood. That USB charging light is absolutely a great light. I use it constantly around the hammock, lighting hurricane lamps, firebox, thing fits in the pocket takes no room up. A very well made little light. I even clip it to my hat brim when I need two hands.

Got us both in trouble at school! 😂 Anyway.. I'm.living quite comfortably in subzero temps & snow thanks to your channel & many others like Survival Lilly. I've been stage 4 since 2016. Several anonymous attorneys have medical people keeping me alive with a special diet & antibiotics that kill the mitochondrial in the cancer cells. The cancer causes Sepsis. That's what kills you. Not the cancer itself. Big Pharma, Catholic Health, United & Centene Corporation DON'T want cancer patients or their families to know you can live a healthy long life without chemo & radiation. It's advisable just like getting an abscessed tooth extracted so you stop the pain & infections. But they can keep you alive & almost pain free until you can get the chemo or radiation. My sealed whistleblower indictments got the Buffalo NY City Hall raided by feds. My workmans comp attorneys are working on getting me care. Once all this goes public and civilians & Veterans realize both political parties are torturing civilian children, adults, and Veterans to death for profit by allowing the frauds that outsource their medical care to Catholic Health & it's partners the S will hit the fan. SHTF will be real. We're in the Zombie Apocalypse. The 'walking dead' are our government officials, doctors, cops, and their sycophants. Thank you so much for getting us prepared..

Ok I'll say it Coleman. And with anything I put on a Coleman stove it can go over a fire. True good items made by Coleman are from a few decades back, but you can get the stuff cheap.

Worked EMS in Cleveland for years, had my streamlight micro every day. Still do, just has all the paint worn off. Get the battery one, swapping a battery on scene is easier than getting a charge.

I'm an Old Guy who's been living, working, and making hunting and recreational trips up and down the eastern slopes of the Rockies for 60+ years, both North and South of an East-West line drawn through Edmonton. Anyhow: You showed a "better than fatwood" product (looks like useful stuff), and with it an inexpensive knife with a ferro rod in the handle. Old Guy Tip: Sharpen the back edge of the knife blade, near the haft, for 2 inches or so. Then use _that_ back-blade edge for your ferro rod striker. This preserves the working edge of the knife, and with the striking edge up near the haft, you have better control, which is useful especially with a small ferro rod. Even on a "camp knife" not a "real" knife, it's still very useful. I know I'm not the only guy who does this; Dave from Dave's Real Survival has a knife with a couple of inches of back blade ground to a striker edge. My dad - a real old-time Rockies bush outfitter and pilot, used to do it as well - and carried chunks of real flint, not ferro rods. By the bye: Lee Valley Tools have huge ferro rods at a very good price. If you catch them during a free shipping sale, even better. If someone is too busy, lazy, or distant to make up their own batch of fatwood for their kit(s), Lee Valley sells a 2 lb box of really resinous pieces for a few bucks. I bought some with the idea of using the cut pieces of fatwood to make a handle for one of the big ferro rods. Gluing it up was a bit challenging, but an interesting project.

For the shovel: I'd recommend getting a Swedish military K.L.A.S. shovel. It's just as durable, you can change the angle of the shovel head and you can replace the handle if need be (you won't ever have to). It's also more light-weight.

I have that UCO candle. The candle wax sucks bc it melts all over and keeps you from closing it down, you have to take it apart and chip away the wax before you can out a new candle in. I used it twice and shoved it away in a corner.

I had one of those candle holders about 10-15 yrs ago. If you lift the top all the way up, you can keep your coffee hot

I brought the Hultafors knife last month! I was after a 'Jack Pyke' Bushcraft knife but they were outta stock, was recommended this little beast :D £20 for a solid full-tang knife that's as sharp as they come.. great grip! The coating come off quite fast durin use but I keep mine WD40'd up when no used. Best £20 I've spent this year.
