Hopefully this is the last piece of furniture to be put together but I've started thinking whether I should get an Air Fryer but am unsure.

Im a mother of 3 kids. Ive lost so many family members and people in my life and so many of recent. But the loss of my beautiful ginger cat last year really hit me so hard. He was only 2. But he had the sweetest personality. Even when i look at vids of him it still cuts me up. Im sure people would say catch a grip of yourself and wise up that its only a cat. But he was so special to me. He had a way of communicating too. Very vocal wee man he was. Cats are so special.

I feel the same about my grey, fluffy cat, Smokey. I lost him nearly 40 years' ago but I still miss him. He was only 5 weeks' old when I got him so I had to carry him around, help him to walk, wean him onto food with a spoon. He used to come onto my pillow at 5 am and pull my hair to feed him he was so young. He was 13 when he died. Yours was so young too.

Bless you, and I feel all animals are so special, and I have never grieved a human being as much as I grieved my beautiful 12 year old Charlie dog, when he passed over the rainbow bridge, over 4 years ago now. We shall never forget them, and the way they touched our lives in such a special way, and they will always be with us. Bless you in your grief. Love, Jilly & Madge the rescue greyhound, who is herself, and a new dog to love. xxx

When you find your Rusty fur, just a suggestion/idea for you to consider Sean. It might be a fitting and lovely memorial to bury his fur in a pot of soil (or in your garden if you have room) and plant a specially chosen Rose into the pot. perhaps a Rusty or orange coloured one, in his memory. There are many to choose from. Rusty was your earth angel and allotment companion in London. He was such a character and a lovely old boy. He returned all the Love you gave him. Now he watches over you 😸😇🙏 as you create a new home and garden.

We bought a the dual ninja air fryer and we use it literally everyday best thing we've ever bought. yes it was £200 but we've had it a year and not one single issue and it uses far less electric which we have seen on the bill :) love the fact it doesn't need to pre-heat and you can sync the 2 draws so they cook at the same time. ours also has other settings instead of just air fry you can roast, bake ,re heat, max crisp and it even has a dehydrate setting so you can dehydrate food which i use for camping and walking honestly buy one Sean you'll not no how you managed without it lol. That's the link to ours below.

Hi Sean. I live alone and have had an air fryer for over a year. Love it. Can make all sorts on it and large enough for me. Very economical and quicker than a large oven. It's also a healthy way to cook. Very rarely use my full oven now. Funny you mentioned a sausage casserole. I am making the same today. From the same make of sausages in your recent Waitrose haul 😁. I too use Waitrose delivery as I find it reasonable and much better quality especially on fruit and vegetables. Rusty was such a lovely looking cat, sad he has gone but what memories you must have of him. Take care.

An air fryer is like a mini fan oven. The food cooks much quicker. It's more economical than a conventional oven especially if you're just wanting to heat up or cook something small. We have a small one and a bigger one. I would say the small one is not that useful as a lot of things don't fit. My suggestion would be to go for a bigger one with one drawer. Go for a simple, cheaper one to see how you get on with it rather than an all singing and dancing expensive model. We use ours a lot and definitely worth having, we think.

Here's my two cents ..... if you purchase an air fryer go with a little bigger one. There is a difference in quality between a cheap one and a more expensive one. Ninja is a good brand and does a great job. I still use my stove/range oven for baking though. Hug your fur babies and tell them all about Rusty.

you get a tower airfryer may I suggest the Tower 11lt or 12 lt these have shelves instead of baskets so no chopping of food. We have one off these and we use it every day. Even yorkshire puddings. We haven't found anything yet that wont go in it. Great value, and at the moment one of them is only £69 reduced from £149. You wont want to use your oven any more, we haven't. Good luck and are so sorry to hear about dear Rusty

Ps we have something called an “instant pot” too. It’s what Rick Vanman uses too to pressure cook. It can sauté, pressure cook, slow cook, cook rice, porridge, soups. Between that and an air fryer and your kettle, you probably wouldn’t need the stove! I’d say if you are going to put a piece of wood on top of your hob, make sure you turn it off at the main isolator switch in case they accidentally flip on and cause a fire.

We have a mini oven that has an air fryer function. It’s much quicker to heat up and very economical to use if you’re on your own, or just want to cook a couple of jacket potatoes or roast a small tray of veggies - or even bake a small cake.

I love the countryside walks. Beautiful! Oh, I do like the size of your new table. My stove bit the dust 2 years ago. I bought a toaster oven and an air fryer. Between the two, I can cook anything. Small batches of soups go in my crock pot. I won't be buying another stove. Rusty's chair will help soothe your heart each time you sit in it. I like the idea of a shelf in the empty space. I use command hooks on the inside of my cabinet doors, too. In the pantry, I have over the door shelf organizer from Amazon to store canned goods in and spices. Living in a remote area where I can't just pop in to stores makes me utilize spare space. You will come up with ideas the more you live in your home. Have a blessed day! ❤

Hi Sean, I stumbled across your channel recently and I'm really enjoying it! I was so sorry to hear about Rusty's passing. As a lifelong pet owner myself (both cats and dogs), I understand the heartache of losing a beloved furry friend. He must have loved and trusted you a great deal as I remember you saying you would both nap together sometimes. Try to focus on these simple happy memories and the pain will ease in time. I'll be interested to see if you get an Air Fryer. I bought one over a year ago but it's still in the box. My oven door decided to fall off recently so I think it's time to give it a go! Once I've got into the routine of using it I'm sure I'll use it a fair bit as it should be more economical with living on my own.

Hello Sean ,I bought an air-fryer long ago , more than 10 years . Is was quite big but at the time we had a very large kitchen. I loved it and cooked a lot in it .2.5 years ago I moved and the kitchen is really tiny . So instead of buying an oven I chose to buy an air-fryer but a small one since I’m alone now . I use it at least 3 times a week and it works well . And with the price of electricity going up and up appliances that use the least are a must in my opinion. But don’t fall for the overpriced stuff . You’ll end up paying for their name only. Have a nice Sunday 😊

My son bought me an air fryer. It hasn't been used much. I mate chips in it for my grandsons chip night each Friday and they are tasty and it does take four sausages without cutting, but they come out dry. I mainly use it for drying herbs from my garden but won't advise them as your main cooking method.

I had an air fryer as a Christmas gift from my mother for an entire year before I unboxed it. Yes, it's a mini oven with a fan, and a small pot, so it heats and bakes extremely fast. And it doesn't need washed often, it kind of gets seasoned, like a cast-iron pan. Just get a small, cheap one.

Hi, i do not have an oven, only microwave, slow cooker and two electric rings. After some deliberation i invested in a Ninja foodi MAX dual zone 9.5L air fryer. It's a big appliance but absolutely perfect for my little home. Size guide - drawers are large enough to roast 1/2 shoulder of Lamb or small chicken or bake a 1lb loaf cake & I regularly cook 5 rashers of streaky bacon in a drawer. It has a timer that links the 2 drawers so they finish at same time if u want. Recently i have also reheated ready meals (broken arm so needs must!) and its quicker than the oven timing on pkts. I highly recommend the ninja for speed, useful size drawers and ease of use. However suggest u double check dimensions to find one that fits your home and needs. Happy cooking 😊

There are clones of all the Ninja models much cheaper. I volunteer at a food aid charity in rural wales, and we were donated money to help reduce cooking costs for people getting our support. We bought people slow cookers and air fryers. They make a big difference to the cost of a hot meal. There are Tower 2 draw models around £100 or less, single draw for £70 . Small slow cookers are about £30. The prices are coming down and also there are 2nd hand ones for much less, where people have decided to upgrade (or not get on with). Like the bread machines, many are given as unwanted gifts, so its worth while asking around as you may get a free one!

I love my air fryer. It’s got two compartments which I recommend because you can cook two different things at once and at different temperatures. I’d have to cut a pizza up to cook but not sausages. I do find it easy to cook healthier food. If making chips you can just spray your potatoes with a small amount of oil and cook them. Also it’s far cheaper to run than the oven. There are loads of recipes online for things you wouldn’t think you could cook in one. My oven broke 6 months ago and I haven’t replaced it yet because I haven’t missed it thanks to my slow cooker and air fryer!

Hi Sean, in reference to getting an air fryer or not..I think you'd like it. If I understand correctly an air fryer is the same as a convection oven..heated by a fan blowing the hot air on your food. I read that the benefit is there is NO grease or fat on your food. It makes my french fries and my vegetables crispy without frying! I love mine. I just have a small toaster/air fryer combination appliance. I had to stop eating some of my favorite foods because they were fried and now I can eat them all from an air fryer. Almost everything you buy here in the US will also give directions for cooking with an air fryer. I'm not familiar with any particular brand and I haven't had to cut up any portions unless I wanted them crispier. Good luck and let us know what you decide!! Love your videos watching you settle into this new chapter of your life. Just take it slow and be kind to yourself!

Hi Sean, chatted to you the other day on Boaty's livestream 🙂What a lovely mention you gave to his channel there, and you did make me laugh when you said "I dunno what it's all about, if you can work out what it's all about, tell me as well" - because neither his viewers nor the man himself (and he will freely admit this) have a clue either 😂😅 In all seriousness, it is literally vids about Boaty's world, such as: the restaurant, his and other cars, point-of-view driving, Peak District, his cottage, trips to his friend's work yard or Wales, food, Monday lunch chats, and lots more. Plus a 4 x week community livestream. It's an eclectic mix 🙂 (ps: An airfryer will save you money on energy bills if your main cooker is electric. They cook food quicker and also you don't need to use cooking oil. Having said that, I was given an airfryer for Xmas 2022 and I've not even opened the box yet, let alone used it. 🤫shhh don't tell my daughters! 😅)

I got myself a Ninja Foodi, mainly because I have used pressure cookers all my adult life and I needed a new one, so I went for the Foodi because it does pressure cooking plus a lot more including air frying. Air friers work by applying heat, round about 200c-210c, but the fan sucks the air out to suck out the moist air, it can't get back onto the food. It is that drying heat that makes food crisp. Because it is more compact than an oven, and the insulation on the Foodi means it doesn't need as much energy to stay up to temperature, it does it all quite quickly and cheaply. I never dry fried anything for more than 20 mins, that includes roast potatoes (but they do work best if you par-boil them for ten minutes first). The non-stick is the best I have known, but because of the high insulation, I often leave it for an hour after cooking so I can wash it without burning myself. The only thing I found that defeats the non-stick is a Honey glaze on a gammon for example. It went on like that for months, for roasties etc. Until one day I had the oven on early so decided to do my Sunday roasties in there. Then I realised the Air Fryer wasn't even close to getting them as crispy an an oven does, I think we fool ourselves into thinking it does a good job because it is easy. So really a lot of the things I did in the Air fryer I now do in the oven again, it is just better. It does still have a good oven (bake) function, but it is small and you would definitely burn yourself a few times getting things out of it. I have more scars than Frank Bruno. But still, let's say you wake up and realise you forgot to get the joint out of the freezer. Well no panic, with the pressure cooker and then Air fryer (or high oven to reverse seer the meat) I can have any frozen joint on the table in an hour. So, I would say if you fancy an Air fryer, get one that does more, you can only eat so much super-thin crispy chicken before you go off it. Much better I think is a pressure cooker (could be one of the devices that does other functions) and use your oven or grill for the crispy stuff.

Sad news about Rusty. He will be remembered by many people, thanks to your videos. Had a thought about the kitchen - instead of a chain put a shelf high between the two cupboards and attach hooks underneath so you can hang the utensils under it. Then you can put your air fryer etc. that you use less often on top of that and leave your kitchen tops clear.

Hello Sean…. I’m like you don’t know what all the fuss is about with air fryers, I think it’s just a bit gimmicky, some people I know hardly use them…. Just a thought. Love the cat in front of the fire. See ya soon xx❤️

So sorry too hear about Rusty, he looked a gorgeous cat and so well loved. I live alone and have a mini vortex air-fryer which I bought from Amazon, it is perfect for cooking meals in it - I normally put in a chicken breast, jacket potato etc in it most evenings and there is space to also put in a few veggies. A good tip, if you have one, is to quickly microwave root veggies before you put in the airfryer as it really cuts down on their cooking time. Would recommend. I wouldnt say it would be the first thing I would rescue if my home was on fire, although I have got my use out of it and it is robust.

As somebody who recommended an Air Fryer I agree with all the reasons already posted by those who recommend them and I would think ideal for somebody living on their own. They can cook everything you can cook in an oven, quicker, with less oil and more healthy. Even your stews or soups. Only things you need to cut up are the same as with oven such as potatoes depending on what you want, roasted, wedges or chips etc, same with veg. Certainly Not sausages. Just don’t overfill the basket as the air needs to circulate. They have various settings Roast, fry, reheat , air fry even dehydrate. Get a two baskets model, cook meat and veg at same time, I would recommend a Ninja Foodi Dual Zone Air Fryer which are on offer at the moment. Sorry to hear about the cat, we have had many cats over the years, and it’s always heart breaking when then leave you, but always with lovely memories.

Sean I have an air fryer, it’s called a Uten and it’s square like a teeny tiny oven with 2 trays to cook on and a bottom fat drip catching tray. I didn’t want basket type drawers to keep pulling in and out and stirring the contents like chips etc. I wanted to lay out my food like an ordinary oven such as sausages side by side or oven chips side by side that I could turn over individually, so for a newbie like I was, the square Uten was ideal. My problem is my son has now “borrowed” it to see if he wants to buy one as he doesn’t like the one he has with drawers! I am having trouble getting it back lol. Oh yes and the trays are Teflon coated so no stick. It also doesn’t have visible elements they must be inside, but you can hear the fan and you can open and shut the door to move the food about or remove some and leave others to continue cooking and it just carries on, no reset to mess with unless the timing left needs increasing or decreasing. I also have a stand alone electric oven with electric rings like yours, but it doesn’t have a lid so I bought a large wooden chopping board from IKEA that just fits it.

An airfryer is kind of like a small oven - in that the food isn’t really fried. Hot air is forced at the food with a fan. They are cheaper to run, especially for 1 person. We have the ninja air fryer where the top flips up and it just has 1 compartment, not 2 smaller ones. It can bake, grill, dehydrate. It’s great! The grill setting is good for meat. Definitely don’t cut anything up before putting it in.

I was given an air fryer by my daughter. I never thought I would use it but it’s used daily! It’s a Daewoo with a large pull out compartment plenty big enough for anything I need. It’s basically a small oven I’ve no idea why they’re called fryers because they cook like an oven and you don’t put oil in like you would in a fat fryer. I use mine because it saves heating up the full size oven for one person.

Hi Sean, I agree with you about air fryers but I got one last year when I was having my kitchen renovated. It was a Cosori 5.5L about £65 on Amazon. It only has one drawer but I did find it quite quick to do oven chips and even managed to get a whole chicken in! J

As for owning an Air Fryer I can honestly say they are amazing. I am a guy in his 40’s living alone (happily) and own two devices that have air fryer functionality. One in the Ninja Multicooker 9 in 1 and the other is the Ninja Speedi. Ok so both take up a bit of room when in use. I store them away on a trolley. Why own two? So they have different functions. One can pressure cook and the other has more steam functions for example. I very rarely use my traditional gas cooker.

Sean have a Duo Crisp Instant pot that has a stainless insert for the instant pot and it’s own lid. The 2nd lid is the air hurt lid but is multi function on both . I love the whole thing because it does many things. The air fryer part roasts, bakes, etc while the instapot pressure cooks, slow cooks as a crock pot and other settings. It is great for soups , veg, stews, spaghetti sauces. It’s invaluable. KZbin has lots of recipes. Very sorry over the loss of your Dusty. ❤

Feeling your pain at losing Rusty ❤ I wouldn’t touch an air fryer. If you have the counter space I would recommend a Halogen Oven, cheap to run, cook very well and give a lovely glow to the kitchen. Easy to clean too.

It’s okay to grieve Sean! Time is a healer! Very sad that Rusty is no longer present but his spirit of being a wonderful companion to you will always be with you and his kindness will show you the way Sean. I too am sitting on the fence about buying an air fryer as yes it’s another appliance on the work top! So I am very interested to hear your opinions on the subject. Take care and take each and every day slowly.

We use our air fryer mostly for roasted veg: potatoes, sweet potatoes, squash, cauliflower etc. You can coat them with a little oil and whatever spices you like. 20 minutes later they are roasted with a lovely texture, browned on the edges. It is really a miniature convection oven. And a plus for winter is that the fan pumps out hot air like a small heater so the kitchen gets nice and warm

So sorry to hear about Rusty 😢. I am new to the air fryer set, but I love mine. There is just the two of us and I love it for popping in a samosa or 6 to re-heat or cook from frozen - they are done in no time at all. I also use it for oven fries (potatoes and sweet potatoes) for frozen South Asian flat breads. Mostly for a quick way to get frozen baked or fried foods cooked without heating up the whole oven or frying on the stovetop, It is quicker than the toaster oven. The new ones are free of teflon or at least the poisonous teflon. And if you just allow them to sit without re-setting them they do burn out quickly (maybe that is why that one guy has gone through 6!). But I wouldn't get rid of the cooktop if you cook from scratch!!

Hi Sean, new to your channel so maybe this has been suggested before ( and I know you have been busy settling in): maybe pop some paintings or prints on your walls to give the room some character. Or a row of old wooden welsh spoons for example. And plants help too, I think you have already mentioned that. If you get lucky you may find some nice prints or paintings in charity shops. looking forward to hearing about the outcome of transferring your film tapes on the Kodak machine. I have loads of them and thought I would have to pay a fortune to have them transferred. Rusty was a fine chap...

Does you stove not have a grill? My Mum always cooked sausages under the grill. Her stove only had 2 radiant rings and a sausage supper for 5 would need 1 for potatoes and 1 for veg. I tend to fry mine in a non stick pan with tomatoes, courgettes, peppers etc and microwave a potato. I only use my oven for baking bread, cakes, quiche and roast root vegetables. My quiche is for using gluts of home grown veg, cutting in portions and freezing for winter, spring lunches. Only the roast veg could be done in an air fryer. Look at the additives in your bread, could be what's making you feel bloated. Looking forward to your garden video. 😉

Air fryers are small convection ovens. We have two. One is a single basket at 6 quarts. I can fit an eight-inch round pan in it for baking/roasting. The second one has three shelves and a rotisserie, because my daughter and I both missed the rotisserie in the toaster oven we had years ago. We use both; if I had to choose one over the other, it would be the second one. I have a regular stove with an oven. I might use that oven three, maybe four times a year, and the air fryer two to three times a week because I'm only cooking for two now, not a family of five.
