I cannot get the Leo ones at the moment so you are very lucky as they treat some of the other brands so they cannot be grown. You get loads of shoots which cost a bomb if you buy them in the supermarkets in those awful bags as posh salad. Please give it a go. x

Your veggies will be so delicious since they came right from the farm. A lot of our produce in the winter months comes from the United states so lots of travel time from garden to table. When I order on line there is a checked box that states that I do not want any substitutions. That way I don’t end up with food I do not want . Check that out Sean. Waitrose is a nice supermarket with good quality things and as you say buying their essential range it doesn’t work out any more expensive and the taste is always much nicer. I like to go to the shops rather than relying on someone else picking it for me. They tend to just grab the first thing where i like to see and choose. I am fortunate I live close by supermarkets so can walk to them with my trolley ( i quicly add Im not that old, well I dont think so 😂) i know they arent cool but its better than carrying it.

Considering all the meat you got, 86.00 pounds was good. Here in the states, buying meat is very expensive. Chicken breast is about 4.99 a pound, with an occasional sale of 1.99 a pound. Whole chickens will go on special once every three to four months for .99 a pound and that's when we buy several and put them in the freezer. Beef, we can only buy that as a treat. Haven't had a roast or a steak in about 2 years, and we buy very lean ground meat, I believe you call it mince, when the price goes to 4.99 a pound. Right now, that is 7.99 a pound. What happened with the local store? They couldn't deliver or out of items? My recent eggs are labeled "Organic, free-range eggs from regenerative certified farms with free-range standard of minimum 21.8 sq. ft. outdoors space per bird," which I thought terrific. I think I've already mentioned roasting cauliflower this winter after seeing a YT video. Boil the head for a very few minutes and roast with or without olive oil. I put parmesan on top with olive oil. So good. I've got 2 lbs. of split peas sitting on my counter, but our weather has so warmed (early spring and almost no winter--El Niño!!) that I don't feel like making more split pea soup. Because I live in the desert, everything goes in the fridge. During most of the year, even chocolate (for baking) will melt in your cupboards. Butter left outside would turn liquid--had it happen (A/C kept high to lower costs). Grew up on Lipton tea (making iced tea) but tried the brand at a restaurant maybe ten years ago and thought the taste awful. Have lovely smelling pink hyacinths outside. Freesia getting ready to bloom. A rain beat down the daffodils--poor things!!

I then dice a carrot, onion and leek or veg of choice, place all the veg in a large pan, add the Gammon joint and peas, add enough cold water to cover add pepper, bring to the boil and simmer for about 2 1/2 hours until peas are soft. Remover the Gammon, take the top layer of skin off, score the fat, rub with honey and mustard and pop in the oven or under a grill to brown. Slice some of the Gammon, shred and add to the stew. The remainder of the Gammon will make good sandwiches. I sometimes add dumplings as well on a cold and frosty day. Xx

It's good to support the local growers, especially as farmers are going through such tough times at the moment. As for organic foods, from what I've read it seems that the health benefits are negligible and when you look at the price for anything organic it seems like a rip off to me. You know that losing some weight would improve your health, but organic foods just make you lose financial pounds, not the weight kind. I would love to see you get healthier and fitter as you settle into your new life, but I hate to see you getting fleeced in the pursuit of health. I wish you well in your endeavours, you're already looking much happier and I think the mountain walks will be the making of the new you.

Good morning, Sean. I’m in Denver, Colorado USA so your videos arrive overnight. I Rise and Sean. It’s a lovely way to start the day.

Let me share a laugh. I watched your video this morning and you couldnt remember what you put butter into. So I shouted out "butter dish" at the TV and you immediately thanked me with "thats right you were right at the back there " By the way, I use split dried peas when I make soup.

Of course Sean didn't hear me, but I said 'botervlootje' when he asked what we call that thing (that's the Dutch word for a butter dish)

I've heard Sean that dried peas make the best mushy peas. I've bought some but haven't made any yet. Here in Canada mushy peas isn't a 'thing', in fact, I never heard of it until I was an adult. I think you just need to soak the peas to reconstitute them, then use them as normal peas. Maybe we can both make mushy peas and compare recipes.

Hello, here's a tip for you and your viewers: when milk or yogurt start to go off I make pancakes (which can be frozen with wax paper in between them) American (bread) biscuits and for the yogurt you can also make pancakes and I have a great chocolate cake recipe made with exactly one serving of yogurt. The chocolate cake is a simple cake delicious with afternoon tea.

With the dried peas you can make the famous Dutch 'snert' (or 'erwtensoep', meaning pea soup). How to make it you can find on the internet (even in English). Not all recipes are how we traditionally make it, it needs to have celeriac in it, that's the most important flavouring ingredient (together with the dried peas). It was made with pork with bones (legs of a pig!), but can be made with any kind of pork, or even vegetarian ...

Hello Sean, I enjoyed the shopping vlog, it's interesting to see the difference in prices as we all have to budget differently in each part of the country we come from, well done for consciously supporting the farmers and picking healthy food for yourself.i really laughed about the sleeping tablet in the peas!😂 Keep up the good work and take care Sean 💜

I agree, the fact that Waitrose deliver in bags, makes things so much easier, also a good choice of organic veg and other items that you can't seem to get anywhere else. Asda for me, is more of a last resort!

Same here - I find Waitrose food is really good quality. Just because some supermarkets sell a lot of cheap food, doesn't mean that its good for us to eat it. Stick to Waitrose Sean!!

Isn’t that what we make mushy peas with? Love mushies but never made them myself, my mum did, many many years ago, and they were always delicious.

Method of dried peas from 95 year old mum. Soak in cold water with a pinch of bicarbonate of soda to keep them bright green for 12 hours, throw away water and add peas to any stew. Mum used to do dried peas, dried lentils with a lamb bone with any veggies from the garden. Best smell ever Sean. Good luck.

Morning Sean, I usually soak the dried peas overnight covered in cold water. Rinse and when you're cooking them do it on a low heat as they tend to shell.

I have noticed prices have gone up in Asdas recently. But Waitrose is so expensive you definitely have to shop around to make your money stretch that little bit further. I do a lot of shopping in Asdas, but I also get bits from Aldi and Lidl, very cheap. Do you have an Aldi or Lidl near you????❤ I don't have much room in a small flat, but I have a lot of storage cupboards in my hallway, so I've put a chest freezer in one. Take everything out of its packaging you get more room pop it into bags or Cling film etc. Just put cooking instructions down somewhere. ❤

Hello Shaun, I’ve been following you since you moved to wales. Enjoying vids very much. Like me you’re trying your best to eat as healthily as possible. Having tried mainly Waitrose, Tesco, and Asda, also Aldi and Lidl , I’ve come back to using Waitrose regularly, their essential range is so much better quality than the others. As for price, it’s very little difference. Stay well.

Sean my mum always kept a wee dish of baking soda in cupboard and fridge(when we finally got a fridge) to keep it fresh. William, my brother, keeps a couple dried peas in salt cellar to keep it flowing easily. We never had a problem with damp in dried goods because we had plenty heat from big open fire and daddy and three brothers built cupboards around and behind the big chimney brace. You chose good healthy foods. We keep our butter in its dish too not in the fridge. We keep veg in the cool back porch and out in the potting shed. Juice is delicious but as diabetics we only eat the fruits as nature intended and only buy juice at Christmas as a treat. Love your channel Sean best wishes Vera and William in Northern Ireland

I have Sainsburys & never get a paper receipt with mine either. Plus because I'm disabled I can't carry the crates in, the rows I've had in the past with drivers who wouldn't bring the crates inside for me. Now I get my regular drivers & they are lovely.

I use the dried peas to plant for pea shoots they work really well, I grow them on my windowsill throughout the year. Also with Asda anything that doesn’t turn up in delivery you can get refunded through the app & your receipt is also in your email with any substitutes.

Not a bad shop there Sean - although the two juices and two caulis come to a tenner which is out of my budget 😊 I'm in Staffordshire and buy those potatoes, they keep well if you remove the polythene and put them in an airy basket. The little steeping tablet that comes with the dried peas is only bi-carb, it helps to keep the colour bright. If you soak some overnight with some of that dried broth mix you bought, boil them up together then add them to your Welsh Cawl, you'll only need about tablespoon of each, it all adds a lovely flavour and texture, I've done it for years. Have a lovely day 👍

You steep the peas overnight you may only need half the pack cos they swell up makes lovely thick pea soup add some ham.
