Scientists of the past: What should we name it? It should probably either be after the person who found it or after some characteristic the animal has. Scientists today: Quick, give me a pop culture reference that won't mean anything in the next 50-10 years!

@iamSketchH2 жыл бұрын
@@shinobi7735 If "a while" means 50 or so years, yeah, MAYBE. But 200 years from now, people are going to say "who? And why was this animal permanently named after it?" I mean, do you know of pop fiction stories from 200 years ago? Probably not.

@@iamSketchH u know the joker is already over 60 years or so old right
@iamSketchH2 жыл бұрын
@@tzelaltsolak462 lol, you're missing the point. 60--or even 70 years is not the same as 200 years. Or even 1000 years. You want a name that is going to be more universal and relevant for years to come because it's a scientific name, not a pop culture reference. A cartoon clown who is a superhero bad guy in American comic books is not exactly a universal name to withstand the test of time.

I too was complaining about that out loud to myself about the new cat 🐱 creature that’s been found and although almost every living human has a camera and or video machine on them at all times they must’ve just forgotten to get a picture or video ?? 🤔 No Pic evidence of new species of most of these creatures so that doesn’t make any goddamn sense LOL ! So I saw a whole host of snap shots everything from what looked to be a bobcat to a house cat? I mean if you don’t have photos or video of it maybe just you know be honest about that and not show Randi shit, cuz viewers will stop trusting in your content. The quality of KZbin content in the last year or so …my god it’s just so disappointing!! Between YT/ Google machine working hard to ban free speech & free thinkers & cancel culture mixed w/ Bizarre non stop Racism at every turn, it seems that everything & most ppl have de-evolved, like we are getting dumber (1 of hundreds Ex- FLAT EARTHER’s! 🤦♂️) ♾☮️

Anyone wondering about the Recluse spider and scratching their head, the difference between the species of other recluse and this one is, (1) it can be distinguished by morphological characters (genitalic and somatic); (2) the four different molecular species delimitation methods were congruent to separate both species; and (3) there is variation in leg I length of males between both species, with the males of L. misteca having longer legs than males of L. tenochtitlan sp. nov., also morphometrically, the shape of tibiae of the palp between males of both species is different.

How does a newly discovered species have a Latin name?
@yourfriendlyneighborhoodqu38593 жыл бұрын
Because 1 they aren't "newly discovered" check out AVNJ he debunks a bunch of these bs videos and science works in latin specifically taxonomically. Naming generally occurs through similarities to existing animals as well as any unique features which then influence the latin name, Latin is the language of science and they generally get latin names before normal names.
