Jennifer was such an amazing booktuber and I really feel like she was one of the best booktubers I've seen, she just was incredibly well spoken and enthusiastic and was able to get you interested in anything she was speaking about! The Mary Shelley book is automatically on my tbr now too. Very intrigued by that book. Also, as a newbie book tuber I totally get the feeling awkward on camera... I know it's more a just getting back into the flow for you but, when you said about your energy and why, I felt like I got what you were feeling to some degree. For me, it just allowed me to connect with what you were saying more... thank you for being open and honest and a lovely human.

The library at mount char is on my list too only knowing that's its "weird" 😂. The awakening was my favorite story I read in my college English class. Really loved it. I should reread it honestly, it's been a long time. I recently put the watchers on my list because I've seen it pop up a lot, so I didn't realize it was a backlist. Great list mikala!! 🖤✨️

The library at mount char is indeed very weird but also very intelligent horror fantasy. I can recommend you A touch of Jen, one of the weirdest books I’ve read and I loved it so much. I’m so excited for you to pick up The Watchers and I’ll be waiting patiently to hear your thoughts about it. ❤❤❤

The Library at mount char is S.O. effin wierd but amazinggggg 🤟 enjoy it girl. Excited to hear your thoughts when you get to it. And The Watchers was in my top 3 reads of 2022! It's also being adapted if I'm not mistaken. I think you'll LOOOOVE it based on your fav reads. I just read The Fifth Season in December. It was absolutely wonderful, though I dont know that I'll continue with the other two. Hi fantasy/sci-fi can be challenging but this was very readable and the metaphors were epic.

OH my gosh now I am even more excited to read The Library at mount char!!!!!! I seriously love books that are weird or speculative or liek one big metaphor, so I think this one could become an all time favorite! ALSO the Watchers I have heard SO many great things about too so I cant wait to dive into the both of these! Also I find Hi fantasy/sci-fi challenging too so I have been so intimidated to read The Fifth Season! Be in a good headspace when you read The Awakening. I remember reading that way back in college and it made me quite depressed. It has been on my least favorite list since then, not at all because of the writing; it is very, very well written. But it hit me so hard in the feels. Actually, I found it on a shelf in my parents’ basement about a month ago and I pulled it out, considering if it might hit differently now that I’m older. Perhaps we’ll be reading around the same time.

I didn't know about Jennifer Brooks's channel before, but after going through her videos recently, I feel like I have been missing out. Absolutely devastating. When Things Get Dark is immediately on my radar from what you're saying. I NEED to read more Shirley Jackson, and then I'll pick that one up. Looking into The Fisherman too! Water/ocean/nautical books draw me in, so it'll be great to know if you enjoy this one! 12:20 - Same! N.K. Jemisin seems like an amazing author to get into, too.

YES I am in the same boat Jim! I was a very recent subscriber to Jennifers channel, I only found her within the last few months, but I really developed such a connection to her through her videos and I think she had an amazing power to get anyone interested in what she was talking about! I really feel the loss of her presence already. I feel so inspired from her to read all kinds of classics and nonfic books, I definitely will go back to her older videos for recommendations! When Things Get Dark really does sounds SO phenomenal! I can't wait to start that one!!! Also for The Fisherman and N.K. Jemisin books I really am hoping to get to these soon! 💯💌💗📚🙌

Yes, I totally agree with you on that fear, it can keep me awake with anxiety some times. Hearing about Jennifer's passing was such a major shock, I was a more recent subscriber but I already felt such a connection to her. I truly miss her presence in the community so much already. Also THANK you for letting me know you enjoyed Anne of Green Gables! I feel even more motivated to pick it up soon now!

Oh I'm a fan is SO GOOD. I'm someone who doesn't always read the title of chapters but I would say definitely read the chapter names. They're incredible. And if you're on the hunt for weird, 2 weird books written by women (I always recommend these so if you've seen me comment these when asked for weird books..... No you havent lol). I Keep My Exoskeletons to Myself by Marisa Crane and Jawbone by Monica Ojeda. I have also started my scifi journey this year!! Im excited to see what you read!

Little Women is so so good! And I loved The Fifth Season, especially the first book in the series and I think it's a great way to get into sci fi. YES I would SO highly recommend her historical video, it was amazing how she could speak about a subject that I wouldn't normally be interested in and just totally get you hooked!!! HAHHA that is so me, like I just hear one word or plot line of a book and Im like Thats all I need to know! SOmetimes I think that's best too is just to go into books blind and knowing as little as possible! I was also absolutely heartbroken to hear of Jennifer's passing, she is so missed! I fell in love with Mary SHelley last year when I read Frankenstein for this first time and I now want to read it every fall it was so good! So far Frankenstein is the only book by her I have read but I have read a few retellings or books about Mary SHelley that I absolutely LOVE, and I would highly recommend both "Our Hideous Progeny" by C E Mcgill as well as Hideous Love by Stephenie Hemphill! OMGGGG I am SO excited and happy to hear you are reading Mary and also LOVING it!!!!!!! It is SO incredible and just one of my all time faves!
