Also, Heroes 5 is really underrated. If only it would have a random map generator... you could play it forever. Also, what's not to like, it's rebalanced heroes 3, with just amazingly fitting graphical style.

The "Tribes of the East" expansion has a Random Map Generator. It's not as good as HOMMIII rmg but makes the game replayable until the end of times.

Heroes 5 DOES have a RMG, but it is very bad.

Theres a fan made mod called heroes 5.5. Its a huge project being frequently updated. It introduces highly needed balance changes, new heroes and artifacts and an upgraded and fully working random map generator.

My only concern about the 5 is the lack of depth in the maps. Exploration is one level below HMM3.

I'm super hyped for *Silence of the Siren* to come into Early Access on Sept 30 (little over a month from now). Go play the demo if you guys haven't, it's Heroes 3 in space with a ton of cool additions/changes. Really smart changes, not dumb ones - it's clear these devs are veterans of the genre. It really blew me away, no exaggeration. I enjoyed the Silence of the Siren demo more than I ever did Songs of Conquest, even though Songs is itself a good game. So that should tell you something. (And yes all these "S" names start getting confusing lol)

To be real for me the real sucessor of HMM3 ( perhaps the 4 but no other title even close to this one) is King's bounty! No town and limitation on the growth of units but that was the most close of the titles your quoted. A special distinction to Urtuk who is definitvely not a HHM title but still i enjoyed it a lot.

Age of wonders: Planetfall is really underrated. Game is really good, especially if you're more in to sci fi than fantasy. Do recommend

Many great games. AoW 3-4 are my favourites. Songs of Conquest was really fun except one thing. If you misclick on the map you can't stop your hero from moving. You fast forward if you mouse click. And last time I checked the community the devs said they're not gonna change it, which is so dumb because how annoying it can be. They don't give a legit reason why they wanna keep it that way either. I'm so looking forward to the HOMM Olden Era! Bring back the old feelings of HOMM.

What!, there's a new Heroes game coming! Wow I can't wait to try it out. King's Bounty was an incredible series, though legend was awesome at the time it was surpassed by all future KB games. King's Bounty Armored Princess and Warries of the North were among by top games of all time--I played the hell out of them . I also played the hell out of all the HOMM games excpet for 4, I only played it a few times. HOMM VII had an atrocious launch but they worked hard to make it stable, though a little too late for most. In the HOMM VII became my fav of the series. I also liked KB II and played it a lot. Though it was the only KB game I couldn't complete--it was hard for me.

I think it's really going to be a great game, and i also think Ubilol only has to look at that game to see how to do it. They really don't need to invent the wheel, just make a good working game without anything grotesque and bling bling. Also keep the towns simple. Altho the towns in H5 were cool, at some point it just was annoying, luckily you could turn the rotation in town off.

Thank you for the video! I must say Disciples 3: Reincarnation an rework of the original 3rd game and it's expansion is way better. Like 95% of bugs are gone, campaign maps and game system reworked too. I have not experiences a single crush in 121 hours. It is really a shame that it did not release this way, because it that case we would have dwarven campaign and, maybe, some new factions like orcs or mermaids added.

@@dennisdavidov782 I usually play the original Warlords (1990), W2 and W3 are basically the same game with improved graphics and a lot more content. I think Warlords 3 is regarded as the best in the series. I haven't played Warlords 4, I've only seen some gameplay and it looks like a very different game. As far as I know, it is considered by many as the weakest installment

@@mangomongomognomagno Yeah W4 is seen as a failure, it didn't sell good either. It also is published by Ubilol. But in map editor you could place place buildings near your castle that buffs your units and was really funny. But other then that it mainly was a bitch to even got it running.

i've tried many of these games and many more over the decades. conclusion is: only a Heroes can beat or be compared to another Heroes. Heroes 2 is amazing, Heroes 3 is eternal. Heroes 4 is graphically half ready, but the spell and heroes-caste system is the best of them all. Heroes 5-7 are not failures in my eyes, though I'm very picky about games. I played Heroes 5 more in hours than Heroes 4, 6, 7 combined, though not as many as Heroes 2 or 3. In the short videos Olden Era seems promising as Heroes 4 should have been.

Other decent similar games: Fantasy General II, Legends of Eisenwald, Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes, Sorcerer King: Rivals, Master of Magic (2022) Thea 2: The Shattering, Warlock 2: The Exiled, Fantasy Wars/Elven Legacy. Wartales isn't really that similar to HoM&M and is closer to Battle Brothers or similar tactical sandbox RPG's.

A new HoMM by the guys that made Iratus ? I loved that game, so I'm actually excited for a new game in an old franchise. It hasn't happened to me since... forever, feels weird. Endless legend is great but it's much closer to Civilization than HoMM, you can win without killing the opponents and the combat is not that good

I bought Age of Wonders 3 after putting hundreds of hours into Shadow Magic and idk it was just kinda meh, I'd rather play Shadow Magic. Wartales absolutely blew me away, I knew about it for a while but waited for a sale and I'm glad I did. I spent my entire 5 day weekend playing it, and it only took me a couple weeks to put 100+ hours into it. I tried the demo for Silence of the Siren and it was very meh, it's just a worse Heroes 3. King's Bounty and Armored Princess/Crossworlds are the best in the series, KB2 was so bad and a huge let down. Warrior's of the North was fine but it was starting to get too same-y, and something felt off about the scaling in Dark Side that I barely even played it. Disciples Liberation was.. fine. While I don't have any major complaints about it, it was pretty forgettable after 1 playthrough.
