Yeah, and Rovinj and Krk are far from being cheap, total Tourist Regions and pretty expensive for Croatia. And I was in Colmar, maybe I was in the 'bad' part, but nothing beautiful there I could remember.

A nice little travelogue, but as for a really helpful guide to choosing a place to live abroad, it's not that helpful. Here are a few questions: is your video aimed at people still in the job market or retirees? One size doesn't fit all. For workers: how easy is it to get legal residency and work permits? Are there jobs? Of what kind? Do you need to speak the local language? For retirees: do a lot of tourists with accompanying nightlife make it too rowdy for a pleasant retirement? How easy is it to get around? (Note: steep streets may not be great for the elderly!) How easy is it to get affordable health care? For both: do enough local people speak English for you to manage daily living, such as shopping? How is Internet connection, can you get English-language radio/TV? Crime? Do locals welcome foreign residents or resent them or just ignore them? How easy is it to buy property, as a non-citizen? Is the government stable and unlikely to turn totalitarian? "Living" in a country means more than an extended vacation during nice weather. It's a commitment to year-round living and to adapting to local customs. Going to live abroad, you have to be fairly self-sufficient and adapt to things like lack of family and close friends. And you need to be pretty realistic.

What the video doesn’t really mention is the fact that most North American cities are simply car-infested (I know, I’m a Canadian) while most of these smallish European cities are not (I now live in one of them). So, not only cheaper, better looking, with excellent train connections, etc. but also healthier. Btw, why is an average US car so big? What for?

Škofija Loka, Slovenia! I'm a Brit who has moved to Slovenia, but on the coast at Koper (near Rovinj). Slovenia is a very safe country and quite cheap compared to Western Europe, but not as cheap as the Balkans, which are within easy reach from here. Italy is just a short drive too.

In Bar I had trouble with an Albanian manual worker. Also, neighbors are very rude if you complain of their (big) dogs barking day and night. No public toilets. Many dogs at the seaside, no asylum. Otherwise pretty safe.
