Those GM trucks do not have names. They are simply C and K series trucks. What's on the fender is the trim level name and "wieght". C is 2wd and K is 4wd 10/15(half ton), 20/25(Quarter ton), 30/35(one ton) are the tonneage. Example; GMC C15 Gentleman Jim or Chevy K20 Bonanza. The trucks didn't get real names intil the 97-03 generation, which is Silverado(which was a trim orginally) and Sierra(also was a trim level below high sierra).

When I was 7, my mom had one of these beautiful beasts. It was powerful and graceful and I would fall asleep in the backseat. Its styling was an inspiration and without me understanding until decades later how it influenced (and I'm sure still does) my own design aesthetic.

My dad has had some unusual cars over the year including a 1933 Hudson Essex Terraplane, 1934 Frazer Bash kit car with an accrual trunk for the trunk, a very small passenger door and no drive's door, and a 1946 Hillman Minx Drophead Coupe that had batwing turn signals and suicide doors! He's also had some cars that would really move including a 1965 Sunbeam Tiger small convertible with a V-8, a Buick Super Wildcat with a 465, and my favorite a 1956 Jaguar XK-140 with a V-12 and Electric Overdrive! The guy who owned it put a couple of switches in under the dash labeled "Impulse Drive" and "Warp Drive"! Even though my dad and I completely restored it, we left the switches just for fun!

No mention that the only reason that the Superbird was sold publicly was so that it could qualify to race in NASCAR ( when they still raced stock cars). When it did, it was so dominant that NASCAR banned it.
@richardcline13375 жыл бұрын
NASCAR now is just a sick joke of what it started out to be, stock car racing and NO damnable Toyotas anywhere! I quit watching their farce many years ago.
@boataxe46055 жыл бұрын
Richard Cline I agree, and I stopped watching it as well, though I’d watch it again if they resumed using modified production cars, even Toyota’s ( of which many are built in the USA. There are no “American” cars anymore, The big three use many foreign sourced parts and build many cars in other country’s, and many Japanese cars are built in America.
@richardcline13375 жыл бұрын
@@boataxe4605 they may build them here but the profits all go back to the big pockets in Japan. Toyota, along with the greedy unions, has all but destroyed the American automobile industry and that's why there are NO American cars or trucks being built today. The unions forced the Big Three to outsource a lot of their manufacturing to cut costs. Otherwise NOBODY but the filthy rich could afford an American vehicle today.
@boataxe46055 жыл бұрын
Richard Cline No, what killed the big three was greed and shortsightedness, beginning in the 70’s they started to make shitty cars with shitty parts in order to make the quarterly profits look good for the stockholders. At the same time the Japanese were not being greedy, they were investing in research and development, making their cars better and better. I used to be a buy American guy, but after getting fucked with two cars that didn’t even make it to 100,000 miles I bought a Honda, which now has 175,000 and still runs great.

A standout Aussie car you should have had here is the 1972 Valiant Charger R/T six pack E-49. 302bhp inline six Hemi 265 ci. Triple sidedraught webers, 4 speed borg warner box. This racing production model 0-60mph 6.1, 0-100mph 14.1, 1/4mile 14.4. Fastest accelerating Aussie production car for 25 years. The Charger was in such demand within the first year of production, Chargers accounted for almost half of all Valiants coming out of the Chrysler plant in Adelaide.

If I had only known! I had one of the Spirit of 76 Chevrolet Bi Centennial pickups. My dad bought it new. He had the dealer take the red white and blue wrap off because he said it looked too wild. After driving it for a while he gave it to me. I drove it to 1987 and traded it in . I last saw it about ten years ago in Fort Worth Texas . It was on its last leg . Beat all to crap. I talked to the girl that owned it and told her what it was. By that time almost anything that looked original was long gone. So today after watching this video I learned that only 500 were built! Ouch 😓

My grandparents had a neighbor with a Riviera. Down the street was a Delorean. There was a Superbird in town also that the owner had a big blower and dual 4 barrel carbs. It was loud af. Saw a Bora and a Merak at an Exotic car dealer in Orlando back in the 90s when you could pick one up for next to nothing. A bit of a technicality but the first mid engine Maserati was the Khasmin with a front mounted mid engine design. The Bora was the first rear mounted mid engine.

The AMC "The Machine" was a awesome car my neighbor was a AMC fan and he had a Rebel ,. AMX and The Machine .. The Rebel and The Machine were both painted red , white and blue ..The AMX was a Chrysler orange it had a 402 and four speed ..The Rebel and The Machine if I remember correctly had 390 for barrels both were four speeds...As I remember The Machine and Rebel were both stock but the engines were balanced and blue printed.. The AMX was far from stock its appearance was stock except the wide 50 int the rear and 70 in front ..now the engine had a 402 2 fore barrels and boy when it idled it just rocked back and forth he would reeve it up and the windows in my parents house would just raddle picture would fall of the walls the parents in the hole neighbor hood would complain "I was sooo Awesome" he dragged raced all of them. He worked at a gas station this is where he would buy racing fuel ...I miss those days to this day he still drives nothing but AMC the last I seen him he had a Matador it was a four door under a cover now this surprised me so much he had a ford Galaxy 500 2 door convertible with a 390 I believe in my hole life this was the only other manufacture car he ever drove ...yes he did have a Dodge pickup but most of the AMC lie had Chrysler products on them...

Chevy impalas were very underrated. They were the largest body style ever produced. Some of them had performance drivetrains like: 350 horse 350& 2 speed powerglide transmissions, 400 small block& t.h.400 transmission. And if that wasn't enough, the mighty 454 big block. I think emissions helped kill this awesome giant and luxurious ride....well....it rode smoothe as a cadillac and shared the same frame and coil suspension. Actually, every GM big car shared a lot of parts with impalas.

The movie was 'Dirty Mary and Crazy Larry' taken from the book 'Pursuit', the '66 blue Chevy in the beginning of the movie was a 1957 Oldsmobile Super 88 coupe in blue and white in the book, and the Charger was a 1961 Chevy Impala 4dr hdtp w. 409/4 speed, which I believe was hit by a semi instead of a train, and was two guys in the car.
