Usually people don't speak like a KZbin presentation. Watch my videos and I bet you'll understand me. In conversation, there is more phrasal verbs, ellipsis, cultural references, people talk quicker, idioms, slang, as well as different accents. She is someone who has learned English to a high standard but still makes mistakes and speaks like a non-native speaker. I've taught English for over 14 years and now even though I'm a native speaker, the English in my videos is non-comparable to natural English. To improve your listening skills, you must listen to natural English... align your listening content to your real-life situations.

Updated list of slang in 2021 Sus- Suspicious(Mostly used in text) Cap- lie No cap- no lie Pog- Excited(used when one is excited mostly when winning a game or watching a live stream as something exciting has happened or happening)(Mostly used in text) Simp- meaning 1- someone(mostly male) who will give a person(mostly female) money for things like saying the person's name or them saying something for you mostly happening on live streams | meaning 2- someone (mostly male) who goes crazy over a person (mostly female) and does anything for them Most of the slang mentioned in the video are not used anymore such as fire, shook(stereotyped to be only used by 14 year old fan girls to oblivion) lit(only used by older generations to seem cool)
@luke63504 жыл бұрын
28 year old American from California: 1. Lit can also be used as a joking way to say "great". 2. Goat is used all the time 3. I've never heard of snatched 4. on fleek is a joking way to saying on point. don't use this in a serious/neutral context 5. salty is very common 6. no one says "fit' as an outfit. Just say "outfit" 7. dead is used like "I'm dead 😂" to describe something really funny. very common 8. 'fire' is commonly used. you could also use 🔥 if its in text 9. low-key is very common. "I want to keep this party low-key" 10. I never hear "high-key". I don't recommend saying this 11. shady is very common 12. savage is common 13. shook is common 14. slay is common but its more used in a joking/light hearted way. 15. stan, I haven't heard this one before. Just my 2 cents. Everyone speaks differently!

A common thing in this kind of slang environment (for right now at least) is to give opinions in a particular format, especially if you think everyone's going to agree. Start your sentence with "Okay, but," then put in your opinion, then end the sentence with "though." If you think someone's clothes are really cool but in a subtle way, you'd say "Okay, but this man's fit is low-key kinda lit though." You use the "okay, but" to start the sentence regardless of what the conversation has been about or even if it's the beginning of the conversation. This can also be used to roast (which means to make fun of or insult, in British slang, 'Take the piss.") someone, which you'll usually see if someone starts with "Okay, but why." "Okay, but his rhymes are savage though." "Okay, but why this man look like his drip designed by Lisa Frank though?" "Okay but you KNOW he's salty after that L though." "Okay but why does my man's head look like a milk dud though?"

A tip: 'salty' usually has a bit more bite to it than just sad. A person who is salty probably has some annoyance or agitation in their voice rather than sorrow. GOAT always needs "the" before it and sounds most natural when referring to a person rather than a thing. I've never heard 'snatched' before, but I am not that cool, so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt on that one :)

Another way of saying "I'm dead" is to say "I'm weak"!! For example, when you send a funny video to your friend, you can say "this video has me weak"
