Love this video, like all of yours! I was in the exact same positioning regarding barely reading any fantasy, and it was the Wheel of Time that actually shifted that for me. I absolutely adore the series, but it is a hefty one to go through. It’s mostly quite an easy read early on, as long as you liberally use the glossary and map. Once you’re locked in, though, it’s just unmissable. So good

I love big heavy fantasy books but they can also be quite draining and sometimes you just need a nice refreshing easy going filler book. That's where Litrpg's/progression fantasy come into play for me with books like Dungeon Crawler Carl, the Stormweaver Series and my personal favourite He Who Fights With Monsters.

The Tide Child trilogy (which starts with The Bone Ships) was excellent IMO. I don't want to diminish your enthusiasm but I personally didn't like The Lord of the Rings series (minus The Hobbit) it just dragged for me personally but I hope you like it because of course I want you to enjoy the stuff you read. We also have a lot of series that we both want to read. The Green Bone Saga (Jade City/Fonda Lee), The Poppy War (The Poppy War/R.F. Kuang), and The Broken Earth (The Fifth Season/N.K. Jemisin). I have tentative plans to read The Fifth Season this year and see how it goes before I pick up the rest of the series. Happy reading

If you want something that has beautiful characters, you should try Becky Chambers' books (if you haven't already). They are Sci-Fi rather than Fantasy, but they're the most beautiful, inclusive books I've ever read. The Long Way To a Small, Angry Planet is the first one, and I have read it more times than almost any other book. It's beautiful and never fails to make me feel good.

Recommend the Deadly Education trilogy if you want a dark academia . Really original setting and world creation. Kids sent to a deadly school in the void as it’s safer than the real world until they graduate as they are attacked when underage outside. However the school is not safe either and it’s about an outcast girl trying to survive

Hi Tyrone. The thing with epic fantasy series is that they are....well....epic. They take a bit of time and effort to get through. So, if you occasionally need a quick, light-hearted read that is still in the fantasy genre and will have you laughing out loud, I would recommend anything in the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett. There are a fair few in your list that I fancy trying, especially the Joe Abercrombie, Robin Hobb and Pierce Brown ones. Happy reading!!!

Have you come across the Temeraire books by Noami Novik? It combines dragons and ships. A while ago, I did enjoy R. A. Salvatore's Forgotten Realms books - there are a lot of them but they are quick reads, only 300 - 400 pages long. Jim Butcher's Dresden Files is a good urban fantasy series - there are about 15 or so of them, but most of them are quick reads. I know what you mean about long books, though - I do like to read long books, and I like world building, too, but sometimes the author doesn't do a very good job of it and over writes things - the book I'm currently reading now - Curse of the Mistwraith by Janny Wurts seems to have more description in it than plot and doesn't explain the world well to boot. I'm not sure if I'll continue with the series as there are others I want to get to.
