Funnily enough, the day you release this video is the day my friend had arranged with me to try out my VS console, as he's been eyeing it up for a while now. I brought along a dozen cartridges to play as a variety, but ran out of time to play a sample each of them. We played Fantastic Dizzy, Speedball 2, Cathedral, Alwa's Awakening, Flea, Kubo 3, Maniac Square Prototype, Micro Mages, Space Gulls and Böbl, with Thunder Hoop 1 being his favourite from what we'd played. The fact time evaporated is a sign that we had a great time together with the Evercade VS. Let's just say Blaze owes we some sales commission... 😉😝💷🤣

Glad to see you’re enjoying Alwa’s Awakening. If you fancy the non 8 bit version, fanatical have it for £1 and a great experience on the Deck (verified too). The follow up, Alwa’s Legacy, is perhaps the best of the bunch.

The EXP screen is amazing, the difference is night and day between this and the OG. The Atari collection really looks nice on this device.

Yeah its a massive improvement. Games suddenly pop out rather than being a little washed out.

​@@CrazyBurger If you are coming to it from OLED screens, then some games are still going to feel washed out a little, but it is not bad considering the price of the hardware. At the same time, the first impression may be tainted by the fact that the display is factory set to maximum brightness, which also contributes to the "washed out" feeling at first impression. Turn it down a bit and things will look much nicer.

Lol I definitely got stuck for a while. It just needs a few pointers sometimes to help you get going. There's some really sneaky hidden walls. Even pretend spikes that you fall through!

I’m so hooked on Cathedral. Unfortunately, even with maps of the given areas it’s often not easy to figure out how to get here to want to.

Yeah i find it frustrating.. im finally getting somewhere with it. But its been a grind. The double jump has made things a little less frustrating.

Great vid and some very good choices. I'd add in there Alligator Hunt as that tends to go down well with people that haven't seen it before. Possibly also Cybattler or Truxton.

Taking my exp with me to the Philippines next week what 3/4 carts do you recommend to take to while away the time in the airports as I’ve got a fair few flights to get there

Ah ok.. piko 1, mega cats 1 or 2.. Indie Heroes, Jaleco Acade 1. Alwa and Cathedral, Gaelco Arcade 1, lol I could go on and on.

We have a decent library of games across the Evercade Carts and collections. Arcade are my preference and they tend to really show what the systems can do. That said the original Data East, Techno's and Namco carts still see heavy play in my systems.

Think overall its actually been a good year. Need more regular releases though.

@@CrazyBurger Agreed....if the double releases are too difficult maybe Blaze could focus on one cart at a time. Try and aim for monthly or every six week for a single cart. Though there may be production issue which requires two carts at a time to fulfill minimum production numbers.

You can emulate thirty year old arcade games on a ten year old phone. This doesn't show anything of system capabilities

What's the sound like through headphones ? as you've said before it doesn't sound to good.

Mmm a bit better, though not all headphones are compatible. My phone headphones only work if they are not fully inserted.

@@CrazyBurger phone headphones sometimes have an extra contact for "call endings" etc , hence not pushing then all the way in, I was thinking if it was tinny , had some base to it ? .

Nice selection but I just go to them come round have look and play your self or take it there house let them play and even just for fun slap it on there TV or mointer with mini hdmi

The lack of options for these games is another blow to the Evercade eco system. We've had dip switch settings since the SNES and truly in arcade compilations since the early 2000's and original XBOX. They just continually drop the ball, lack of attention, lack of care.

Speedball 2 already appears to be an incorrect aspect ratio so stretching the screen a little further can't hurt.

It certainly works for some games.. but clearly brutalises a few and should never be played that way ideally.
