Can’t thank you enough for this. I love yoga and it has really helped me with neuropathy following failed back surgery 9 years ago. 12 weeks ago I sustained a wedge fracture at T11 ( doing a plough) in my wonderful regular yoga flow class. Everyone has told me I should never do yoga again and my body is aching for it and neuropathic chronic pain worse for not having it . And this morning I found you Dr Tara thank you so much. Of course I will take it very slowly. Namaste .

I learned from you that women with osteopenia shouldn’t twist. I’ve practiced yoga everyday for years. Do I have to give up twists and cat cows? Thank you for the practice 😊

I TRULY AGREE WITH YOU MY FRIEND. I HAVE SEVIER PAIN IN MY LOW BACK. TRIED EVERYTHING AND IT DOESN'T HELP. I STILL DO YOGA AND PILATES IN LIMITED MOVEMENTS. NOT TAKING ANY PAIN MEDICINE.

Hi.. when you say the ' spine contact the Earth ' it's also means my back lay flat on the floor .. must not have space in between .. right?
@drtarasalay2 жыл бұрын
If you have a slight space between your lower back and the floor that's fine, you don't want to be actively trying to flatten the spine. I just mean that you don't want to twist your back when bringing the leg in. For example, when bringing the right leg in, you DON'T want the right side of your back to lift, both sides of the back should stay on the ground evenly. Also, keep the head and upper back on the ground. Hope this helps!

Thank you for posting these safe poses! So helpful! Can you tell me if Thread the Needle pose is safe for osteopenia? I haven't been able to find any guidelines about it doing my research..
@drtarasalay2 жыл бұрын
Glad to help! In regards to thread the needle, in general, I wouldn't recommend this pose because of the way it rotates your spine while placing a lot of your weight through your shoulder. With that said, depending on your bone density level and prior level of activity, your personal restrictions could be different from others so I would recommend talking with your doctor to determine what movements you can do 😊
