As a Westerner, i would make a fried pancetta and garlic, hand-smashed potato infused with olive oil, salt, grated cheese, crushed eggs and Italian parsley bhorta. Great vid.

Musturd oil is the key point as well as game changer of any bhorta
@AkhtarM28 Жыл бұрын
Follow her simple recipe. It works every time. Bhortas are actually a staple of Bengali cuisine. You’d hear all about big complex dishes like biriyani, ilish, meat and chicken curry but this is what we Bengalis grew up eating. There’s a bhorta almost everyday. It’s also a great way to make your children love vegetables.

Ohhh great inspo for Italian version! As a Bengali familiar with and in love with Italian food, I would make a potato and bakala one! With some high quality, pungent olive oil, it would be a great riff! Thanks for the idea!

You are doing a great job for the society❤️ I was a hard core non vegetarian till I visited a farm and witnessed the horror of the dairy industry. The cow is inseminated painfully every 6 months so that calf is born. The calves are taken away immediately without a single drop of milk. The male calves are transported to the slaughterhouse to be killed on the very day. This process continues for some years till the cow is completely exhausted and later sold for meat. That’s the milk we consume. I literally had sleepless nights after watching the cows, their udders become so big they can’t even move. And they run to save their babies from going to the slaughterhouse. Thank you for these recepies so that people can choose compassion in their plate instead of pain.
@AkhtarM28 Жыл бұрын
Traditional farming is not done like that. I think it’s the Western way of farming. We also have animal farming in Indian subcontinent but it’s much more humane. We don’t use artificial insemination, the cows are allowed to mate and wean their calves. The rest of the milk is of course harvested for human consumption. In the villages when people used to have their own animals, they’d use the bulls for ploughing the land and the cows will be taken to graze every once in a while. Of course some cows will be sold for meat but the butchering process isn’t also brutal like hitting in the head with hammer or suffocating like it is done in Western commercial meat industry. It’s almost like the cows and the calves and the bulls were part of the farmers family and they were raised with love and care. But of course farming has changed now. There are many cows that are cooped up in one place and they are not allowed too much movement. But still thank God we don’t have things like force feeding and artificial insemination and taking the calves away from the mother etc. these are brutal. I am not vegetarian, majority of Muslims are not. We also have a ritual where you have to sacrifice an animal as part of our faith. But we are taught to treat animals with kindness. Even while slaughtering them. We do eat them and that’s the cycle of life but no excuse to be cruel to them.

@aap9490 Жыл бұрын
The famous fish I mean hilsha is rare to find outside of Bangladesh. I don’t think these people lives in Bangladesh, rather a Bangladeshi immigrant to a western country may be. So it’s understandable why they skipped ilish vorta which is the trademark of Bangladeshi cuisine.
@AkhtarM28 Жыл бұрын
@@aap9490actually ilish is more expensive in Bangladesh now compared to outside of the country. We get Padma’s ilish for 30 usd here in the US. Comparing the average income of Bangladeshis and immigrant Americans, the price is really good here. In Bangladesh you could hardly get that ilish for the same amount. Now on top of that take in account that eating a 3000 take ilish is almost impossible for majority of Bangladeshis at home.
@aap9490 Жыл бұрын
@@AkhtarM28 Yeah that you are right. I have been living in the US for the last 2 years for studies and the news I get from home and my dad, clearly the Bangladeshi syndicate and Hasina's oppressive policies and ilish politics with India has made it impossible for the common people of BD to get quality illish within an afforable price!

Coriander is traditional. You can use another herb like basil or parsley or even leave it out altogether but it won't have the same taste.

You can skip it, it's an optional, Or try adding lemon juice for some flavour.

You can skip it if you don’t like it. Many people don’t. You can also skip garlic with most of the recipes. They go well with black seed bhorta and your fish/shrimp bhortas but won’t taste well with the others. It’s more about tradition. Where I’m from, we don’t add garlic to vegetable bhortas.
