Regarding the "checking your packs" recommendation, I would add to that by suggesting making a spreadsheet of whats in each pack. That way, you can go back to that list later when you decide to do a layout of a pack(s). That way you dont have to remember every little item for every pack.

This is the absolute most important part. Chances are more often than not we will not use anything but our emergency food, however we are guaranteed to see the long term benefits of good fitness. Not even going into the fact fitness is a make or break necessity for any combative roles. Everyone should do a mile every day, either walk or run, doesn't really matter. Only takes 6-30 minutes out of your day.

I am starting to work on getting my mobility up, while i got a bit of fat (~25%) i'm fairly muscular and currently trying to transition into muscle-ups from pull-ups while doing more crossfit/parkour I dont think pulling yourself over a ledge will be quite as important but the movies i used to watch always had that one scene where someone was hanging off of one (assuming a ledge exists)
@DaveSmith-cp5kj3 жыл бұрын
@@BlackMamba-lt8oe That's a really bad excuse to not exercise. Muscle can also be fuel. And when you have more muscle you can better convert fat stores into energy. There is a reason why fat people have starved to death in survival situations. Being fat doesn't mean you don't have to eat, in fact it means you have to eat more to keep your fat cells alive and not from robbing your other organs of energy. If you care about having enough food, then buy food and store it in a backpack, not in your body.
@DaveSmith-cp5kj3 жыл бұрын
@@BlackMamba-lt8oe That's not what I mean. Fat cells require energy to exist and to extract energy from the lipids. Simply being fat does not mean you are less likely to starve than a skinny guy. In more cases than not you have a disadvantage in situations with a total absence of food as your daily requirements are much higher. There is no excuse to not have good fitness. If you are muscular then you should know the importance of fitness.

Another great video, there SOOTCH, but I will add one more item from very personal experience, and that is, KNOW YOUR ALLERGIES, and HOW BAD they are !!! I went to an allergist back in the mid-90's due to newly recurring sinus infections, which would usually come up around Christmas time, and clear ONLY after a weeks worth of Heavy Duty antibiotics of 800mg Augmentin (amoxicillin-clavulanate). One of the worst symptoms was a fever in the range of 103.5 to 104.5 F. The scale of allergic reactions went from 1-4, with a 4+ if BAD, or 4++ if REALLY bad. She told me I tested so far BEYOND 4++ for Fir/Pine Trees, aka Christmas Trees, that I could be sent to the hospital just getting exposed to it ! Well, that explains that problem. I could no longer go to ANYONE's house for Christmas if they had a real tree. This also included going to a shopping mall, and I wondered why I could NEVER use Pine-Sol to clean anything. I would get a MASSIVE headache within 2 minutes, so... Go get your allergies checked and KNOW YOUR ALLERGIES !!!

We live in the West Texas town of El Paso and we have been going hiking, backpacking and camping in southern New Mexico for over 30 years. We have found roads, mostly logging I assume, that are not on maps. We have found springs that are not on maps. Not to mention abandoned cabins. We are always evaluating where to go in a SHTF, WROL or TEOTWAWKI. Kind of fun actually!! BTW, yesterday a wildfire started at one of our favorite campgrounds in the Lincoln National Forest. Last count over 4,000 acres burned. With high winds expected today, it will get bigger. Aircraft are grounded. A fire burned out a campground about five years ago and it is still closed. A nearby lake was drained and the ash and debris removed. The lake provided water to Alamogordo, NM. So things can happen that affect plans. The OODA loop is helpful: Observe, orient, decide, act.

A small hint: If you think some of these helpful sites/landmarks are truly "Abandoned", then use that to your advantage by taking a local map with you next time, and using your phones GPS to locate and mark it on that map. Example: during the recent freeze we lost power but still had a municipal gas source. Our main heat was electric. We had a subpar source for heat, and vehicles if that failed. There are a few things i didn't really think of that you mentioned in this video. Water was a thing i didn't put much thought into, mostly because i have 2 creeks by the house and plenty of berry vines. Getting some stuff to clean and sanitize the water was something i had to get before that new pistol that really can wait for next bonus. Also a thought for those on a strict budget, like i have been before, most of the gun stores around here let you do layaway that new gun, so that may be an option for some..

Learn to listen to God thru prayer. Many of the great preppers in the Bible (such as Noah preparing for a flood and Joeseph preparing for famine) listened to God and were able to save many lives. Also, talk to your pastor or rabbi about joining youth groups that teach camping or first aid, etc. If there is a 4-H club in your area you could take a meat rabbit or chicken project to learn animal husbandry skills while having fun at the same time! God bless!

This is generally a good video. My gear is the same as I had in the Army almost 50 years ago(except that the ponchos and air mattress disintegrated). Learn all basics without being prior equipped. Learn to start a fire with a piece of stone(quartz around here) and a salvaged piece of steel. Learn directions by the sun shadow method. We used to say in a bad situation you have to "hunker down, bull through, or bug out". In many cases, hunkering down has a lot less risks. For water potability, you can't beat having bleach. It can be used for many cleaning purposes including wounds. 20 years ago I was talking to a young cop who had been an Army sergeant. We were talking about all kinds of things especially screw ups we had seen. He then started to tell me about his preps. When he was done I reminded him of the old Army 5 paragraph order with "beans, bullets, and bandaids". He had completely forgotten "beans". His next overtime check was going to food. Talking to other people that you trust helps many. You are providing that "other person" for many. BTW. I'm way out in the sticks. My house is passive solar heated with wood stoves for backup. This summer's project is a wood gasifier to power my 5kw generator. We get a lot of power outages. I also plan to expand my garden. I'm looking at canning like we did 40 years ago but also solar drying or dehydrating. The dry makes more sense than canning which will need new seals each year. Good Luck, Rick

At 6:30...the medical side of their preps...is hurting.....ouch that's bad when your medical supplies are in pain ;-/.....as always Sensible Prepper is making sense which is very rare these days (probably be illegal if the current fools in "government" continue to try to ruin the country) "The wise observe the signs of the times and prepare; but the fools take no notice and suffer the consequences" - Proverbs 22:3

You are such a fine man. I know you are doing this partly as a ministry to others - it is so obvious by your spirit. I am nw finally waking up to the real danger now that the CCP has basically taken control of our beloved America Thank you sir so very much.

After a recent batch of tornados hit our local area in Newnan, Ga., I have been upping my Ham Radio communications, with some "Go-Box" equipment (portable field radio & power supplies). It can be used whether I am safe in the basement or setting up emergency comm.'s for local support.

I have a ‘bug out’ campervan.. but the Covid season has me out of shape, so I will start walking tomorrow and eventually will walk to the State Park and work some real skills. Having all the glamping stuff does make one ‘soft’ in the mind and brings a possible false sense of security~ time to work some new skills. 😂✨🕊

One of the best things you can do is start looking through your home and find things you already have that you can use to put a kit together, first aid, batteries, flashlights, dryer lint etc. also if you don’t have money to buy things, go through your home and look for items you don’t use or need and have a yard sale, take that money and use it to purchase gear. These are 2 things you can do that cost $0……

What I feel is important is going back to the basics. Learn how to get by without electricity. A usb charge cable wont be any good with power out. Also power out no internet or cell service. Learn to get by without what you get by with.

All good suggestions, thanks for the video. I'd like to add that if you store gasoline for emergencies make sure you rotate it out every few months, make sure your cans are in good shape and not leaking especially if you are using plastic.

Thanks Joe! We talked some about gas storing in a Jerry Can video but it's something that needs to be addressed more.
