The best thing for a generator is to exercise it every month. That way if something goes wrong you fix it right then and there and it's ready for the next time. Learn the hard way from blizzards in South Dakota.

A heat pump ventless clothes dryer uses far less energy than a regular dryer and if you are heating your house any efficiency losses will stay inside your house added to the house heat energy balance. They are far better for areas that heat thier house for long periods of time like in Canada, but if you want the comfort of laundry like normal life during an outage it's probably the way to go. They do run longer because it doesn't get as hot so the dry time is longer but overall it will be about 1/4 the energy use.

I love all the headlamps and the little lanterns they are great but man I really really really really really really wish they would stop putting the flashing lights on their. I've never ever had to use one in my lifetime I wish the red would just stay on instead flashing.

I have had one for approx 10 yrs...I use it for back pack trips...charges up and lasts a long time. I had mine in my pack from one yr to the next and it still had a charge.

These are a bit over priced. On Amazon UK they are £17 the solar section is very similar to the units you get every year for £1 - £2 for sticking in the garden. Ok these do have different modes and are brighter ( that could be due to the inflatable section ) but effectively 6 - 8 times ?

I’ve had the simpler version for years and years. It usually lives on the dashboard of my van… always charging. Use it while camping a lot. Use it for working in dark areas where it would be annoying to have a corded light or bigger light as well. One of my favorite features is that it cuts off after about 4 hours on its own…
@playinatlife57782 күн бұрын
I second that. I've had mine for about 4 years, they live on the dash of my RV. They work great. All the campers in my family got them for Christmas gifts. My only complaint: they should put a few ridges in the plastic over the on/off switch so you can feel where the switch is in the dark.

That's GREAT! I'm new to solar and worried that the heater sun blasting through glass could creat a fire hazard !
@playinatlife5778Күн бұрын
@@Michelle-n7f Good point! I never thought about a fire hazard. It frequently makes it into the 90's here in the summer. They've been on my dash for all that time without problem. Hope you enjoy them!

I have used the Luci lights over the years, be aware that for use outdoors, you want to make sure you get the waterproof one. There are some that are not waterproof. Now I use the Crush light from Goal Zero, they are about the same price and I don't have to worry about pin holes in them. I have had luci lights not stay inflated. I would love to see you review a Crush Light. It is good to hear that they offer some that charge via USB now, they didn't in the past.

We lost power for 3 days. Honda generator for like 3 hours a day. 1.5 in the morning and 1.5 in the evening to top off 4 big battery systems. Then solar during the day with 900w of foldable panels. Worked great. We kept a full size fridge / freezer, and 2 vehicle 12v fridges going. If you are smart with your power management you can do it.

Correlation factors are very important to know when it is safest to exit the area, stock up on sandbags, fill them up as you dig as deep as you can, if you are driving out of the area, place sand on the floor boards of the transportation you are using, get a layer as thick as you can beneath your feet.
