Aluminum will melt the ice faster as it is a metal and metals are a good conductor of heat and electricity whereas wood is an insulator , so Aluminum will melt the ice faster. I am from India 🇮🇳❤❤

Wood is an insulator, Aluminium will melt the ice faster as it is an excellent conductor of heat ( which is why heatsinks are made of it.)

@OffSurfaceAdventures

Ok it is clear to all of us that the ice cube will melt faster on the aluminium plate, but why? This is due to about 2000 times higher thermal conductivity of aluminium. One might ask which one of the blocks will get colder if they start at the same temperature and are colled by the ice. In theory the wood got a higher specific heat capacity but if you account for the same volume and the higher density of the aluminium block, the aluminium will stay warmer.
@sathwikmadapati618
@sathwikmadapati618 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah but it also depends on rate of flow of heat which is much high for aluminium than wood . However this was pretty basic question for preparation of IIT.
