Cool! my 13" MacBook Pro is running Mojave (can't upgrade to Big Sur) so the options look a bit different for me, but I haven't looked into these for several years now, though some of them I've never considered to be "obscure." Thanks for the quick tour. It's fun to see what has changed over the years.

How could I not have known of this channel years ago? I just got my new M1 MacBook Air two days ago to replace my Early 2011 MacBook Pro, and am a bit confused going from High Sierra to Big Sur. These videos are just what I've been needing and I really appreciate it.

Hey Gary, when I made the switch to Apple in 2007 I searched for ways to increase my Apple knowledge. Starting out with Tiger OS Manual I read it front to back. Then I discovered Mac Geek Gab podcast. That was a giant leap. I quickly got ramped up to my Mac. You were the other GREAT find. You were the hug to Mac Geek Gab's kiss. The information you provide is priceless and worth a million. I've subscribed to your Patreon Channel. The value received is worth more than my subscription fee. "When the value exceeds the price, price ceases to be an issue". The other comment I'd like to make is about the Apple Community. From day one, and forward, I have found the Apple Community to be extremely supportive, unlike Windows. Nothing like this exists in the Windows world. It's a pity and why I will always remain in the Apple World. Thank you for your contribution and support.

Another tip for the Settings window: use its Search field to quickly locate settings options related to a keyword you enter rather than digging through individual settings categories trying to find what you need.

I have a question re my dock & that is when I turned it on today 3 of my images were a large question mark (Pages, Numbers & Keynote). But I have a separate Numbers icon. Suggestions on how to restore the icons. I am using OS X El Capitan. Thanks for any suggestions.

Your videos are amazing!!! I just had to replace my 2015 Intel Mac Book with a new M1 and I've been banging my head on the desk trying to get the new one to act like the old one. Then I found your videos and I've been binging them and finding the answers to all my questions. Mostly it's dozens of little things that I changed over time on the old one, like having it announce the time with a Scottish accent, but also big ones like how to set up Time Machine on a network drive. Apple seems to have changed where all that stuff lives, not to make it easier or better, but because they could. Anyway, thank you.

I’ve always thought Apple should have a “what’s new” command for System Preferences that hilites or shows only the new items in each category. I spend a lot of time searching for prefs that I’ve seen elsewhere or just wanted for awhile. “What’s new…” would be a great tool for those of us expecting or hoping for improvements in Sys Prefs. Searching in Prefs is a really bad idea, just massively wasted time, imo.
