Great information Chris, thanks! I'll have to go back and watch part one again. One point about bat guano. Insect eating bats make guano with lots of nitrogen. Fruit eating bats have phosphorous rich crap. So if you don't know what kind of bats the guano comes from you can't know which nutrients will be most prevalent. I think Clackamas Coot has the right idea with using your own worm castings. He teaches how to feed the worms the right diet so you don't need to add amendments to soil as much. If you can get black soldier flies to show up your compost/castings will be even better because they can digest meat and other things that worms can't eat, and they don't seem to bother each other. Plus the waste of one feeds the other one. If you feed the worms and BSF right you don't need bat or bird guano, or a bunch of other separate ingredients.

Love your podcast. Can you do one on “curing”? From what is curing? How important it is for the final hurdle of smoking your harvest before it was properly cured. That is a problem most GrowRoom across the world are having issues with. Ideas???

@fromseed2weed210 2 жыл бұрын
Most growers know how to grow, they just don’t know how to harvest. Not many videos on this topic. you have a good point.
@BrianM-44041
@BrianM-44041 5 ай бұрын
I may do one sometime now that it's legal in Ohio to grow. Curing is massively important as is proper drying. It makes the difference between hay/grass smell and taste, and the stinkiest smelliest sticky icky. Dry it by hanging the entire plant(above soil only) upside down in a dark, cool room with a slight breeze of air flow until the branches almost snap but still have some bend (inner moisture). Trim either before hanging or after then put in jars or grove bags, or other curing appropriate space. Leave for about 2 to 4 weeks in this container, checking occasionally to prevent excessive moisture and provide fresh air for the curing process during which the buds off-gas certain things and ferment somewhat. Similar to a cigar humidor or dry aging beef. Humidity depends on your preferences. Always keep cool and dark. Sunlight degrades the dry flowers. If you need numbers dry your plants at 60 to 65 degrees f and cure at around 62, same temps. Flower cured like this will be fresh and best used within 3 months from end of cure. Vacuum sealing it and freezing can work for longer term storage.

Thanks for this extended amendment tutorial! Medically fit added many little points of significance to the use of many of the products I use or have used. I use neem meal and neem oil and have used them sparingly because of the controversy. This helped! Would really like to see both of you with Dr. Busby to talk about how I see it as a difference between science and real world results.I think the controversy is simply science vs taste. Who cares if it produces more trichomes if it isn't an enjoyable product! Love your guests and the questions you ask them. I always look forward to your next one because there is always something that applies to me! Thanks so much bro!

For the bat guano it depends from where the guano is harvested. Mine is from Malaysia, wich means that it is super high in phosphorus (NPK 1-20-1). But it depends obviously on what the bat eats.

Interesting,,, but. You can basically take your seed to harvest with food by products we throw away!! Chicken bones in the oven or dehydrator into a grinder voila bone meal, fish bones and shin. Dehydrate or bake dry and grind fish meal. Poptato peels, banana peels apple dryed or baked and ground pottasium and trace minerals . Coffee grounds, egg shells, . Boil and make teas. Water from rinsing rice. Sit for a week covered with cheese cloth, then a quart of milk into that ,again sit for a week, remove the whey. Then mix with ten quarts of water and molassass. Again sit for a week. You have a super colony bacteria jump start for your organic weed grow!!! Just a little mixed into water goes a long way! Wow so much to learn.

As someone who have keeps 2 diffrent species of cockroaches as feeders for my tarantulas and scorpions for several years you made me realise I need to slap myself in the face hard, I've been throwing away and flushing down their excrement and chitin that might as well have been black gold and diamonds to the plants. 😅 haha I started watching your videos to learn how to grow and finally pull the trigger on it, and not to say that I haven't learned some incredible things in that department but honestly the thing that have stuck with me the most is how much incredibly stuff you can actually find a use for if you just recycle. Your content is absolutely incredible man, keep up the good work and much love and respect from this little heathen in Sweden!✌🌱

One of the things I found to get around is following the ratios and ppms suggested for transition, to early flower, to mid flower, to late flower. If you can get the ratios correct ( or very very close), the plant will be at its closest to max performance. Yes, there are slight differences from cultivar to cultivar. Example: When switching from veg to flower ( or transition), it is suggested that you have equal parts NPK to ease the transfer from stage to stage. When using dry amendments, your timing and eyes are key. Well, knowing what the ratios are: 1:3:2 Used for Mid Flower at 900 ppms N150, 450P, 300K. Let’s you accurately create teas that match the exact ratios per each stage. Product 1 - Fish Bone Meal 4-12-0 Product 2- Langbeinite 0-0-22 I bubble 4-12 to 600 ppms. I keep diluted 0-0-22 in a mason jar ( it’s a mined rock, not poop or blood). I add maybe 1/2 tsp of the dilution ( 1 tsp 0-0-22 in 24 oz water, takes about 6-7 days of shaking to completely dissolve) The mixture comes VERY close to 900 ppms and is the exact ratio of what the plant needs. Transition I use Dr Earth all purpose 2-2-2 to 900 ppms which is the same ratio of 1:1:1 to follow. First week Early flower : 3-5-5 OR 3-5-6 to 900 ppms for 2 weeks Late bloom 0-3-3 750ppms ( week 7) 500ppms week 8 with 1 gallon kelp/molasses flush at end of the week c

@@ryanc6878 That is not true at all. I've been running organic no till for years inside and have only had a thrip issue one time that was easily beaten back. Organics are all about being pro active and thinking ahead. I don't know anyone growing organically inside that has these "bug" issues that you speak about. Seems to me that your experience or others that you know of aren't keeping the garden clean or are haphazardly going into the grow right after being outside and tracking insects in. Never go from outside to directly into the grow room, that's just asking for trouble regardless if you grow organic or synthetic.

@@mopar426power Lol go on any grow forum...first thing you'll see in an organic growers setup...yellow stickies. Clear signs there's likely bugs flying around. The soil in organic actually needs to stay damp to actually break down, so now you're definitely going to possibly get bugs.

@@ryanc6878 Lol. Yeah a few fungus nats here and there on a fresh container/bed but it should never become a issue. If anyone has an explosion of fungus nats then they are watering too much and keeping the soil too wet. Let the soil dry out a little and they will die off. Using mulch and the right containers (grassroots living soil fabric pots/beds) is key to keeping the soil moist without having to water everyday risking over saturating the soil.

@@mopar426power Clearly you like the organic methods, so you're not going to believe otherwise, but organic indoor isn't logical. It's more of a new grower fantasy. Organic fertilizer is like a slow release fertilizer, it's not immediately available, and it takes time to breakdown small enough for the plant to use, meanwhile if you got a fast growing plant in a 5 gallon container indoors, with a 2-4 month life span, the organic nutrients aren't going to breakdown fast enough to really benefit the plant, which makes synthetic fertilizer a better alternative. However, if you're growing outside in a garden, organic is a better choice because you generally want a low salt, long-term slow release of nutrients. Personally, I like using organic during the start of veg so it has the next 14 weeks to breakdown, then slowly transitioning to synthetic so by the end of flower I can easily leech out the salts.

Some bat guano is chock full of nitrogen while others aren’t at all and packed with phosphorus. Used to get this tub called Mexican bat gauno thst had lil to no nitrogen. Also Down to Earth has quite a few different qaunos . At least 2 different Bat guanos.

I wonder if it has different properties as it breaks down, for example the first few weeks of decomp it might be full nitrogen but another 4 weeks and it might have depleted it's nitrogen and now is full of phosphorus.. I have no idea this was purely a guess.

@@brandysigmon9066 bat guano is mostly nitrogen the rocks or dust gathered with it is phosphates thats why they made them change the name you will notice most companies now sell rock phosphate and not bat guano the standard suppliment is sea bird guano

For your plants to take amino acids they need to be in L form so L glutamine for instance will be your natural nitrogen ammendment

What’s the biggest pot you have used for one plant? I’ve never grown. About to in a 2’x4’ and am thinking one plant. My light is rated good for a 3’x3’. I’ve watched and done some research and am thinking one plant in a 10 gallon. Living soil. A possible snag I heard the other day is the added humidity from more soil. Is that or anything else a downside to a 15 gallon one plant setup? I keep learning from you Mr. Grow Thank you sir 🤙🤙
