Hi Adam, Ypur video just showed up on my feed today and I’m so glad it did. Fantastic video! So enjoyable to watch! I appreciate all the tips and information you included in your content. You even included a plant I inherited in my new home’s garden that I was not familiar with, Ageratum. I like and appreciate your information on Houttuynia. I definitely want to add this to my garden. I live in Charlotte, NC, USA and as a rule our Zone is a good environment for many plants. I look forward to catching up on your videos! Thank you for this video . Take care! 👌🪴🥰

That chameleon plant very invasive in Midwest in US. Sprouts up everywhere!
@Adams-Gardening-Guides3 ай бұрын
Yes that's why I recommend you grow it in a pot to enjoy its beautiful leaves, and mention t can be invasive if planted in teh garden, which is something I warn against.

Very interesting video and I like many of the plants you mentioned. I particularly love daisy type flowers, they are so cheerful. I had E.C. Buxton years ago but it struggled because it didn't have enough sun and eventually died. I suspect your plant is growing so tall because it's reaching for the light. However, it looks great and longer stems are perfect for the vase. I have a variety called Wargrave that I'm going to put in my garden from my allotment, but it isn't the ideal spot, but I'm hoping it will be happy enough. I'm looking forward to finding more of your videos.

Hi, I just found your channel and have a few of these plants in my garden already... I'm sooo glad you mentioned about the chamelion plant being invasive.. Had it in the ground, not knowing that it was invasive and dug it all up.. yes, super invasive.. I may try again in a pot, as it is pretty lovely.. Thanks for all the wonderful choices for perennials.. very nice. Cheers.. Leesa in France

Welcome! Pleased to hear you’ve just discovered my channel, so I hope you enjoy more of my videos. Yes do try Houttuynia in a large pot. I love it! And if it does grow a bit tall and starts to bend over just cut stems back by about a half. Perfect for a shady spot too.

Hi Adam, what a fabulous informative video today. Thank you. I have tried to grow Solomon's seal, but sadly it doesn't thrive for me. What are the best growing conditions for it please? Have you ever tried growing Brunnera 'Looking Glass'. It is the most beautiful cultivar- I actually prefer it to Jack Frost. I always mulch and put a cloche over my hardy salvias in winter, mainly becase of the wet. They have stayed in my garden, which has a clay base but improved with compost yearly. happy gardening 🙂
@Adams-Gardening-Guides3 ай бұрын
Thank you. I’m not familiar with ‘Looking Glass’ but will take a look. I’ve always liked veining but that silvery leaf does look lovely. I have a clay soil and Solomon’s Seal has established nicely. I transplanted some to this position in my shade border and it has established nicely here too. I would recommend starting with a really nice large plant. I know nurseries sell small plants in 9cm pots that appear to be good value but I think it is worth spending twice as much to get a larger plant instead.
@bewoodford28073 ай бұрын
@@Adams-Gardening-Guides thank you Adam. I also have clay soil and planted mine behind some ferns which grow well. However, I bought a variegated variety and maybe it is just a weaker plant. It does come up every year but it is awfully spindly.
@Adams-Gardening-Guides3 ай бұрын
@@bewoodford2807 Yes much weaker growing in my experience too. I haven't got it in my garden at the moment, but teh green leaved one is thriving as you can see, despite competition from tree roots.

Hi Adam, thank you for your video. Love your garden! You said you are in zone 8, without being too specific where are you in the uk? Im in the south of England right on the coast and i just wonder if im in the same zone. Thank you.
@Adams-Gardening-Guides2 ай бұрын
Thanks, pleased you like it! Much of England is in hardiness Zone 8 but coastal areas tend to be a little milder and are classed as Zone 9. You can find maps online to check. Mainland Wales and northern areas tend to be a little colder in Zone 7, and Scottish Highlands Zone 6 I think, and again coastal areas are milder.

Nice selection Adam. Personally I would not have No. 11. Although it is pretty I would be afraid of it taking over in the garden, also it has a very strange smell which I do not like! No.12 is my favourite, mine is still in full flower.

Thank you. To be honest I don't notice any aroma unless I prune it so wouldn't let this put me off such a glorious plant that provides colour for me month after month. Yes Rudbeckia 'Goldsturm' is such a good hardy perennial and still providing colour for me in my mid-October garden.
