Wow, some of these were really forward thinking and innovative. People with mobility issues are finally receiving alternatives to the old-fashioned wheelchair that's remained unchanged for over a century. Cheers to all the designers who thought up ways to help others! Great video!

Loving the new style wheelchairs out there, too bad they cost as much as a car in most cases though. The one I’m using now, the Quickie Salsa M2, would cost me almost £7000 to buy. The Firefly wheelchair attachment is at least £2000. The van I’ve had for almost 10 years, a Sprinter with wheelchair lift at the rear, was about £30,000 at the time. These companies seem to think we disabled are made of money!

My wife is paraplegic and has a Peugeot Boxer with a tail lift on Motability in the UK. I agree that as soon as you mention disabled the price rockets even with a scheme designed for the disabled. Total rip off. She also has a Salsa M2 which is a lot better than her old chair.

At 1:00, The DC-12 is by far the most realistic mobility chair out there for most of us. The problem with the most needed chair is that here in the USA can’t get it under Medicare or Medicaid. They refuse to approve them, and insist instead on supplying power chairs that are 200+ pounds, and twice the price! At 62 lbs., I can manage to get the lighter DX-12 into the back of my small SUV, but that’s not possible with the tanks approved by Medicare. So much for Medicare working for the people, eh?
@gloriadulan-wilson10765 жыл бұрын
Love the Scewo Bro - the last one that climb chairs - but, in checking the price, I see that ti's geared for the uber rich - it's the price of a midsized vehicle - will they be developing a similar product for the rest of the world who also deserve to be ambulatory?

A Quantum Edge Q6 3.0 without ILevel is $57k. Insurance does not pay all. Tilt & recline, led headlights & tail lights. 18 mp charge, 6 mph. I love mine. I got the new green one. Bright shiney and people love it. I do too. I finally got out alone at night. I talked to police. Thought there would be issues driving with cars etc. No. If a pedestrian can go so can I. Bike or motorcycle helment would be handy. I drove off road, teails and the highway. I want to start a local group for "Nightriders"! The best I have feltvin years. The little van/SUV? I had 2 Honda Elements. I could drive with chair. Thats what got me off road. Honda Corporation knew about me. Was professional photographer. Went everywhere! The Element had suicide doors, 2 aux plug ins. It easily handled a powerful laptop, and more. Never got stuck anywhere. Was offroad all the time and became #1 out of 660 million photog and aphers globaly. I finally can get out! Great video.

GREAT IDEAS!!! But, unfortunately one set back COST!!! These mobility equipment are usually very expensive. Averaging from about £5,000 to about £12,000 ( $7,500 to about $16,000 ) poss MORE!!! 😱. I understand that the companies that design & make these things need to be played &'replace parts amongst other varies overheads. But, shouldn't they be cheaper as not everyone with a mobility disability can afford to buy one of these.

Is it politically incorrect to say wheelchair and wheelchair friendly vehicles now so instead it's "PERSONAL MOBILITY VEHICLES FOR ALMOST ANY OCCASION" jeez, very misleading. For wheelchair users though it's very informative.
@mindseyedesign6 жыл бұрын
They aren't all wheelchairs though so we used a broader title. The title has absolutely nothing to do with your assumption.
@johnnywoods55496 жыл бұрын
@@mindseyedesign which is why I said wheelchairs and wheelchair-friendly-vehicles, and it's not an assumption on my part to interpret the title literally. My comment is also not a criticism of the content it is more of a frustration with PC culture.
@mindseyedesign6 жыл бұрын
@@johnnywoods5549 ah okay it read as you were saying the title was misleading. I see what your saying though and agree for the most part. I wasn't aware saying wheelchair was politically incorrect.
@johnnywoods55496 жыл бұрын
@@mindseyedesign Nowadays everything is politically incorrect and racist for some reason. The title is kind of misleading since personal mobility usually refers to things like segway and such. The point is I was taking a jab at PC culture not the content, one guy I know would like 4 since he has a hard time getting in and out of his car.

@EezeeListen5 жыл бұрын
@@hornhuntermed674 ? In Ireland, as in UK, insurance is something we have to pay them for in order to use a vehicle. Insurance only pays us out if the premiums have been kept up to date and if an accident has happened. A finance company is the only way we could begin to be able to purchase these vehicles, and then we would be paying high interest rates. So, in reality, unless we are rich, we cannot purchase these vehicles.
