Whenever I see your camera tests, I score the iPhone as a clear winner. But I carry an iPhone 14 Pro Max and Pixel 7 Pro at all times and take a lot of pictures with both. To my eyes, in the real world, the Pixel 7 Pro takes more pleasing, punchy, images straight out of the camera. With the iPhone I often use ProRaw and then post process the images to look more like a Pixel. There's one exception; I rarely take cellphone pictures at night, but when I do, my iPhone does a better job.

Its funny, because i just commented that this was the first time ever iPhone won one of these for me lol. FWIW, the iPhone and Galaxy both got wins in some rounds that legit could have went the other way. I sometimes picked a winner just because i had to pick, the pictures were too close, and I would be happy with either one.

My results were not that skewed: 13 for Iphone 15 pro max, 11 each for S23 ultra and Pixel 7 pro. To make it more scientific, i assigned 5 pts for the best photo, 3 for the next and 1 for the least and in that manner, my score was : 113 for Iphone 15 pro max, 105 for S23 ultra and 97 for pixel 7 pro. Just goes to show how preferences can be so different for different people. Edit : had a sum mistake , updated s23 to 105 from 101 , and updated pixel 7 pro to 97 from 92

I would also change the voting in respect of total fails giving zero points. And if first an second are divided razor sharp changing to 4 and 5. Overall after the same comparison with the 14 Pro Max the 15 Pro Max impressed me a lot (much more than i expected) but not completely. I would like to see a real camera reference shot in comparison with decent gear. especially the night and dark shots seem to be probably overexposed due to AI. Interesting to see the Pixel 8 PRO in comparison coming next month. Your score shows how close the battle is if you not just count only first places (what is the right way to go in my opinion). To say in short words the 15 Pro max (this year model) ist better than the last year models of the competition ( so it fulfills at least the minimum requirements) But at the end its not a demolition of the competition, its not a revelation.

I have the S23 ultra and IPM15 and can say in most (80%) of the cases where I take a picture with both phones I find the Samsung has a sharper, richer, brighter image than the iPhone. I mean, these guys are usually biased towards Apple, so it's not entirely surprising. However, they should represent the competition like Samsung a little bit better. The S23 Ultra cameras are absolutely stunning - and the best part - less editing.

I love your blind camera comparisons - usually. There far too many extreme circumstance photos here. It's a shame when so much work was involved. We really needed a bigger proportion of photos taken as people would take most of their pictures. I did find that the iPhone 15 won, with the S23U rather behind in second, but I really don't feel the comparison is as relevant to real life as these videos usually are. Sorry.

Wow, it sounds like the iPhone is really killing it. I have been really enjoying the photos from my iPhone 15 PM so far, especially with the new 24MP photos. Pictures of my cat have never looked so crispy!! lol. I do hope they release a software update to the 5x telephoto camera soon though because sometimes, in certain scenarios, there is a lot of noise once you start digitally zooming and it's clear that the AI is doing some weird smoothing on text and stuff. Try it out for yourself. Put a piece of paper on the other side of a table and then zoom in on it and take a photo. The text looks readable before the AI smoothing happens and then after the smoothing, it turns the text into gibberish. It only happens at higher zoom levels so if it doesn't work for you, move the paper further away or use smaller text and zoom further. I am sure Apple will fix this with a software update but I really hope it is soon and we don't have to wait 6 months or a year for them to fix it.

Watching on a large 4K monitor, the full-screen image comparisons seem to be pixelated and of reduced resolution - it looks to me that the image comparison slides were reduced in resolution to 1080p. It makes it slightly harder to judge.

Because at some point some observations made by others make an impact on what the other person might choose. I think this is a good way to do camera tests. We all have our preferences, but a "blind" comparison is a good way to remove biases and fanboyism. Otherwise, people will tend to choose based on the phone they like. Of course, this test wasn't thorough enough to definitely say which has the "best" camera. You'd need a panel of professional photographers and a larger sample of photos probably. But still... I like how they conducted it, and I pretty much agree with their conclusions. Well done.

I watched your tests over the last few years, i am an iphone user, but it has often been very close between them. NEVER have i scored an iphone that much higher over the other phones like this time! The 15 pro max absolutely destroyed samsung and google here, it wasn‘t even close! Another very biased video. I am glad that more and more people are realizing this. The 70% of photo examples are clearly taken in situations that favours iphone, maybe they even messed with sliders for contrast and white balance in pixel and samsung camera to make them worse. I have pixel 7 pro and my photos dont look like that, and i took a lot of photos in very different scenarios. Just search for other comparisons with those phones and see which one does the best in most situations. Dont trust these guys picture selection.

I suspect the Android devices probably take some of each other's points. For example, if the iPhone is bad in a particular scenario, the win will go to one of two Android devices, whereas if iPhone is strong in a particular use case, it gets all of the points. If you add both Android points together, it's a much closer comparison. A one-on-one matchup or rank order scoring might be the ways to address it.

The iPhone is generally better because it has more accurate colors and that is what all phones and cameras should be striving for especially on the color temperature. You don’t wanna have pictures or videos that are too cool or else every color will have a hind of blue which destroys the photo and video. If you go to any movie theater, you will notice that the screen never has a blue look to it, it’s always on the warmer side to give you more accurate color thus increases the immersion and makes it feel like you are in the movie. It’s all about having accurate colors! Although, the iPhone 15 pro max is not perfect at all. The other day, I went out to do a photo shoot with my car and 15 pro max and I ended up scraping all but one photo just because the color temperature was off by a lot. It’s all about having accurate colors that bring you back to the moment.

@@peterotremba8980 I don't know that warmer is necessarily more accurate, but it's certainly more pleasing. I am impressed that Apple added S-Log3 to allow for color correction in post and better color matching across devices. That's a big win. I would love to see Apple or Samsung license S-Cinetone from Sony. I would probably buy the Xperia over the Samsung or iPhone for access to the S-Cinetone color profile if Sony would just commit to a longer support-life.

I am really hoping for some more pro features for photos. I was just taking some photos of my dogs playing in the backyard but the shutter speed was too slow for half the shots. I would like to see some controls for the iso, shutter speed, temperature, and focus! Would make a worlds of difference.

You should show zoomed-in sections of an image (zoom after the shot). Without that, in a compressed youtube video it is hard to see which one is more sharp and clear in the details. The big pictures can only tell us about balance of colors and brightness, which is important but could also depend on camera settings, and might be fixed with post processing. A lack of raw pixel details is hard to fix with settings. Perhaps with AI, but you could shoot details that the AI cannot predict.

16 for the Pixel, 14 for the iPhone, and 5 for the Samsung. I really like the less saturated tone of the Pixel photos--they feel less like a computer made them. Really surprised by how poorly the S23 did!

Did poorly because the person taking the photos made sure of it. Owned the 23 Ultra since launch and have never seen photos this bad in person, especially in a review for this matter. The zoomed shots are a joke in most as it's most obvious the individual taking the shots didn't even care to "focus" on the object and just captured the scene as is. Makes a huge difference in overall quality and saturation when doing just that. A simple "tap" on the screen surely makes a HUGE difference when taking a shot.

Oh, and this is the only review out of eight I've seen that chooses most anything over the 23 ultra. Kind of crazy that the edge detection of the 23 ultra in this video is the worst, but others say it's the best...... "Wierd?!?!"

@@mbed0123 Take a deep breath Samung guy it's just some photos, no conspiracy. The shots are fully auto, if Samsung doesn't do that well then they lose. I watched a bunch as well, this seems pretty par for the course. This is by far the best iphone camera system I have owned, and the first I prefer over my pixel phones. The 14 pro max was terrible to me, crushed blacks and bad hdr. No one thinks an s23 ultra is a bad phone, just not the best in this comparison in the given parameters.

100% agree about pixel, i chose pixel everytime as I can alwasy tell which shots it takes and I much prefer the pixels colour rendering and HDR over iphones fake over exposed, over contrasted warm shots. When pixel nails a photo nothing can touch it. Also think the people taking these shots were not taking the best photos with these cameras or maybe didnt undesratdn how to use the phones properly as never seen such bad photos in a comparsion

For me, based on the results of this video and my preferences for color tone and exposure, the iPhone 15 did horrible. Especially on the color. Constantly green and missing the natural look. I'm glad I've got my S23 Ultra!

Yeah, colors were terrible. In some photos the skin color was just unreal. At least it looks to my eye that can't be natural skin color. Very warm tones in general. Not particularly great, honestly. But great low light results, I think. I also can't help but notice the bias towards iPhone in their choices. I mean they are tech reviewers and I watch a lot of informational videos about phones and tech in general so I, and them for sure, kind of suspect just based on the images which is taken by which phone. And if I can make guesses like they sure can they. 😂 I even made a small game trying to guess which image is iPhone and then guess which they would choose. It works for most part. 😂 But then again - bias is natural I guess. I would likely also root for a brand if I had a preference for any particular one...
