Hi Cal! I love your videos. I will travel to Thailand on March and learned so much from your vidoes. I read a rules from cosmetics: "Cosmetics that can be carried into the Kingdom for personal use only must be ready-made cosmetics, with no more than 3 pieces of each type and a total of no more than 15 pieces. " Do you know what types of cosmetics? I mean I just would like to bring my personal items like makeup goods, body wash, shampoo, mosquito repellent spray, sunscreen spray, deodorant etc., but I don't know that it will be exceed three type of cosmetics? Thanks for your helps.

Yeah the guidelines on longer durations are somewhat lacking. To be honest, it shouldn't be an issue if it isn't a controlled medication (opioid or opioid derivative). The enforcement isn't overly rigid, as most medications are available over the counter here. If it's not controlled... personally, I'd just bring the script and the supply and go through the green channel. You may also be able to buy the medication in Thailand very inexpensively and over the counter.

My flight did arrive at 5am, though. There was no one else in the airport. Got from gate to boarding sky train in about....15-20 minutes. The biggest wait was the 5 minutes for luggage to arrive. If you want a no hassle arrival...i might suggest a 5am arrival flight.

All checked luggage gets X-Rayed but this is done under the building between offloading the plane and the carousel. Do you see the security screens at 7:10 which look like those used at the entrances to many shops? They are RFID detectors and although I am not 100% certain, I believe that if the previous X-Ray shows something suspicious they will put an RFID sticker on (or in) your bag. If the detector is set off by the RFID sticker you will get pulled over for additional checks by the customs officers hanging around nearby. Most people walk straight through because nothing suspicious was detected in their bags by the X-Rays.

Im glad I found this. I am planning a trip to Thailand later this year. Now you got me worried about my prescription meds. No controled substances. @thebangkokguide
@thebangkokguide Ай бұрын
The prescription is technically a requirement but you can always chance it... when it comes to prescriptions that aren't restricted, it normally won't cause any significant problems. I bought a long wooden souvenir shoe horn to take home, and I had it sticking out of my carry on suitcase when i was checking in for my flight. The agent didn't like it being carried on, and took it away from me. They did put it in a travel tube and i did manage to get it back when I arrived at my home airport, with a bit of hassle. Who knew. ?🤪

Brought a couple of kilos of my ground coffee for years in with no problem. I assume it is about synthesised or concentrated coffeine semi products in Thai law which is quite logical just the way other legal systems in the world regard it. Pharmaceutical coffeine pills for personal use in a sound quantity should not be an issue at all. Especially if a doc's prescription comes along.

Do you plan to bring it with you or have it shipped? If it's shipped, you'll likely pay customs duties. Shipping is the main target of customs enforcement. Cheers

@@thebangkokguide She would be ordering it on shoppee , so it would be shipped to her door . As far as me bringing a wheelchair from Canada , that would never happen. Any items / products sold in Canada that are focused towards the elderly / physically challenged are hugely over priced . I was the primary care giver for my mum for 3 years when she was fighting leukemia and then afterword's , for her 2 elderly sisters for 5 years until they , as well , passed away . In that time I was shocked at how the elderly and physically challenged are gouged . A walk in tub might cost over 5000 $ in Canada but the same model sold in Lima Peru was 1300 dollars . Non electric wheelchairs in Canada start at around 350 for the most basic where as in Thailand you can order one for as little as 39 $ .

They're not strict with vapes it seems. I brought one with me 2 years ago no problems. My friend brought one in as well, vaping everywhere not realising they were illegal til I told him. He was shocked 😂. Stupid law tbh. 250 grams of tobacco is fine as that's what they sell them in multi-packs of at the airport. I'm back in Thailand 21st January. My dad's lived there 20 years so I've been a few times! Your videos are informative. 👍🏻

Thanks for the kind words. I agree on the vapes. It’s a strange law given just how widespread it is here… and I don’t think they stop anyone from bringing a personal use vape either. A lot of customs enforcement is pretty haphazard and vapes is probably top of the list! Thanks for your input.

I will take my receipt with me, and a certificate of proof from the jewellry shop, that it is not a fake ring. Second question. You seem to have done your research in this area but here is something i bet you cannot answer . I have a kit car. Its a 7/8 th scale replica of a 1936 Mercedes Benz 500 k Roadster . . I bought it in disassembled kit form from Classic Roadsters in Fargo ND . It came across the boarder as " car parts " but the company also furnished it with a serial number. I built it in 1991 with a 302 ford v8 and gave it to my parents. They drove it from time to time with politicians in parades or taking residents of local senior citizen homes for rides. . A few years back they gifted it back to me . Here's what I want to do. I would like to completely disassemble it and box up all the parts ( with its custom frame ) MINUS the engine , transmission and rear axel , and ship it to Thailand , where I would re assemble it with the engine , trans and rear end from a Mercedes SL series car that I would purchase in Thailand . ( perhaps even cutting and stretching it into a 4 door configuration ). Then we could take my disabled father in law and mum for drives in the countryside . My thai wife already tried once talking with customs with regard to bringing the dissembled parts into Thailand. She will try again if she makes a trip down to Bangkok. as this is better discussed in person . Don't feel bad if you have no answer for this. haha Its not something that's dome everyday I guess. Cheers and Happy new years

Sounds like a great project. I’m not entirely familiar with importing cars, but normally the tariffs are quite high… you’ll want to go through a customs broker for something like that as you risk it getting stuck in customs with demands for absurdly high tariffs. You really need the broker who has connections that will arrange it all. Cheers and good luck with the project!
@ethics3
@ethics3 Ай бұрын
@@thebangkokguide For sure on that. Since it was not a " production car" it cannot even come into the kingdom as " a car ". The only way is in disassembled " car parts " . I have read cars and motorcycles can be subject to up to 200 % duties. That's very disheartening because I have several vehicles here in Canada that I would like to ship to Thailand . Take for example.. I just bought a 1971 Honda SL 350 in " barn find " condition . If I were to ship it " as is " to Thailand the duty on its present condition ( rough , seized aged ) would be around 600 $ but if i restore it first , here in Canada , its value would increase to around 6500 $ making it subject to much much higher duties .. If I were to be like most retirees , moving there ... going to the bars every night , and living it a tiny house or apartment , life would be simple ... But on many things , I have hit a brick wall . Just not do able in Thailand

@@ethics3Yeah I definitely understand you there. Was back in Canada in August. Really enjoyed working on building and salvaging projects that just aren’t possible here. The car culture is entirely different. I’ve got my creative outlet in KZbin here, but I miss that aspect of life in Canada. I’d like to split my time a little bit more as I think that can offer the best of both worlds.
