There is another and easiest way for the mobile phone is to check with your home provider what addons roaming products they propose . I also live in South East Asia and I just put an add on for 3 days / 1 week / 1 month depending of the length of my stay and I do same when going to Europe . Average price is about 25$ per month . Now these are unlimited data’s but that is all I need , sending messages and using Google map when driving or walking around and using grab for taxis .

That is a bit personal to ask those three questions from them ? What if it's your first time there and you haven't got a clue to where you are going and accommodations so long as they know how long you stay for is enough.

surely if you travel to a foreign country you will have accommodation organised in advance ....even if only for the first night or two.

Normally they won't ask... but they can. This will be similar in many countries.. was asked the same visiting the UK a few years back! Don't worry too much about it.

Living in the western world, I see white people acting superior over Asian people, like they are better than them. Then when I visit Asia , I see the same thing. Not sure how and why Asians / Asia would tolerate this kind of mentality in their own countries

There's many but just 2 reasons why Thais think farlang are stupid, 1. They put 2 exchange booths next to each other in the street, with a different exchange rate in each booth for your currency, now which one are you going to use farlang stupid he won't know, 2.your walking past a massage parlour girl says you want blowjob, farlang stops ! It's not something you'd forget, I knew there was a reason walked down this street ,silly me, I'm glad she reminded me 😮

@thebangkokguide Given the cost of flying into BKK, the increase in prices in general in Thailand, not saving a few baht on the exchange rate is hardly a mistake.

never order pet pet if you don't really know what you are doing. never take a taxi directly from the khaosan road. walk a few streets away and look for a taxi. always drive with meter. if the driver says no, then you have to explain to the driver that he has to. if not you complain at some office. take a picture from the license and license plate. drivers are not allowed to decline you if you want to drive with meter.

Another tip: If bringing in large bills, say 100s, always bring the cleanest bills possible. Cleanest = no ink or writing on bills, no bills with tears or torn bills. No badly wrinkled bills. Your best bet is to ask your home bank for brand new bills before you leave. If your bills are stained or torn you might be turned down at the exchanges that offer the best rates and you will be sent to an exchange with ugly rates.

It's true that obtaining Thai Baht in your home country before going to Thailand is expensive - however, there is a Thai immigration requirement whereby visitors arriving in the kingdom are supposed to have 20,000 baht in cash upon arrival. Admittedly I've never known this to be enforced in my many trips to Thailand, but I still take a 'better safe than sorry' approach. If a Thai immigration official is having a bad day, or just doesn't like the look of you, falling afoul of the 20,000 baht requirement could be all it takes to be denied entry, or just make the immigration experience more unpleasant.
@thebangkokguide
@thebangkokguide 8 сағат бұрын
Technically it can be in any currency, so you won't need to show Thai baht... and even showing a bank account should work. But it's very unlikely that you will get asked about this. Thanks for your input!

The biggest ATM mistake in Thailand is forgetting to get your card back. Unlike in the US, in Thailand ATMs will first give you the cash, and only afterwards, after a few seconds, your card. It's VERY easy to forget your card in ATM after a long flight. Then it would be next to impossible to get it back, especially if you don't stay in Bangkok.
