I've learned a lot about Budgies this past year. My little guy Ozzy is so cute and entertaining. He picks up most everything. I've even taught him a little German. I also learned that it's important to give them some greens. Ozzy loves them especially a little banana and hard boiled or scrambled egg but no salt. Not good for their kidneys. There's more to them that. Just bird seed and millet. I learned they can get a vitamin A deficiency which can cause organ damage if they are just given bird seed to it only.

I agree with you but everyone has to keep in mind that not everyone's bird is like this. For example I've had my female budgie for 5 months and my male for three and when I get close to their cage they are very scared. Also when I open the door they won't come out and when I put my hand in their cage they scratch me

I owned two budgie Saoirse and Hamdan and believe me once tamed they are so sociable to you and like you so much...they would try to eat evrything i ate infront of them and play with everything i hold in my hand....their poops are small and not much a problem for me...they will ask you to pet them in the head and so on .....lovable

Can you help me please? Im worried for my bird,heres an explanation: Today i bought a bugie and he doesnt seem to be very healty,his tail is "booping" and his feathers are all messed up,hes a young male and his name is Ringo. I called the vet and hes on his way but the closest vet is 4-5 cities away from here so it might take 1h or wh for him to arrive...im really worried! it's okay if he hates water, could be water trauma which is fine. at least it eats broccoli because it is really healthy! you can try to offer more green food: dandelion leaves, spinach, carrot leaves, parsley, cucumber, lettuce etc.

I mean a lot of that depends on the personality of the budgie and how much you work with it. Though, I gotta disagree on the “they don’t take up much space” properly sized cages should take up at least 2.25 square feet (about 1/2 a meter) per bird and I have an entire closet full of extra toys, dry food, carriers, first aid, newspapers, etc.😂

My budgies have no appetite . They are not eating anything even they refuse greens ,they are fond of ..... I am so worried . the symptoms show that your bird has vitamin A deficiency ☹ my little Denny, looks like, died from it the most common avian disease is actually vitamin A deficiency with or without secondary infections. pet birds that only eat seeds are more prone to this, especially those who eat only seeds like sunflower because seeds are very low in vitamin A symptoms on vitamin A deficiency depends on which organ system is affected. a bird with vitamin A deficiency may show all of those symptoms: sneezing, wheezing, crusted od plugged nostrils, depression, diarhea, poor feather color, swollen eyes, lack of appetite, slimy mouth, tail-bobbing, ocular discharge, nasal discharge, foul smelly breath, weigh loss, increased thirst.. you need to get vitamin at vet station that has vitamin A, B complex, D and E and of course give your bird more food with vitamin A. pepper, broccoli, spinach, dandelion leaves, egg yolk, mango, sweet potato etc. good luck with your bird :(

I have 6 BEAUTIFUL budgies, which my mom said first only to get 2 then decided they were in such a tiny cage before we got them so we got 4 more 😆, now... it’s hard to tame my birds... I have a separate “smaller” cage so I can try and tame them 1 at a time... but do any of you have some tips on taming my budgies?

Yaa 1) spend a lot of time with them and talk with them gently so that they get used to ur voice and presence. 2) clean their cage and food regularly so that they can get used to ur hand and do talk with them. 3) give them variety of food and veggies so that they r active and healthy. 4) I personally recommend putting two budgies or a pair in smaller cage and tame them. Don't keep them alone. 5) start by feeding them their favourite treats through bars of cage with ur fingers. Then gradually put ur hand in the cage. 6) when they sit on ur hand slowly stop feeding treats and just keep ur hand inside. Let them play with ur hand and know that there is no danger for them from u. 7) now u can try different training videos for them from KZbin like flying back target training etc 8) be consistent. Do this at least 2 times a day. All the best😇😇

Budgies do pee, their droppings include their urine!!!! So they pee just like all the other animals!!! And their food is not cheap, pellets, the healthiest diet, cost a lot!!!!!! So budgies and all the birds are not cheap!!! (I have a cockatiel and a conure btw) I personally prefer cockatiels and conures (my opinion)
