@TommyD-fo7ye: "He fails to mention..." so says Walmart. Bullshit! Walmart's PR department issued that statement intentionally to mislead the public. Walmart's business is declining heavily because "online shoppers" can get stuff at the same (or less) prices without going anywhere and do it from the comfort of their home. Walmart's biggest problem is "high overhead", that is big box stores and huge parking lots. These were great before online shopping. But no longer are. They are expensive. Note: Europe doesn't allow any Walmart stores. PS: I'm a 1986 graduate of business school with a GPA of 3.4. And I've been watching Walmart for over 20 years. Walmart will be filing Chapter 11 protection from creditors in less than ten years, and a few years later will file Chapter 7 bankruptcy.

@@FritzSmith-h4g so says someone who doesn't have a clue. Chicago Walmarts were losing $10 mil a year. They bought out a 50's shopping center in my city maybe 15 yrs ago and built their store, and Lowe's built on the property. Both closed within 2-3 yrs. 30 yrs ago a Target was built on the outlot of that center. Not only did it close in 2 yrs they torn the building down. They closed a Supercenter a few years ago, and the shoppers there found this big market to go to, and now they have armed security, and are considering closing early. This is on the County line where Sam's has to relocate to. I wonder how long they'll last. The Walmart that they recently closed looked like a hell hole inside They also closed a small grocery store recently. With their smaller margins they couldn't withstand people running out with. full baskets.

Many family members loaned them furniture, for decades sometimes! And we rarely if ever felt like we had to go without. The dirty secret is that the very government spending that is consuming society like an ulcer, gets magically counted as part of gdp. For that reason, the public is not having the proper discussion: has marginal productivity of [federal] debt gone negative? Some have not heard that idea before, so the plain english version... a dollar borrowed causes the economy to shrink instead of provide an anemic 0.2% growth or some such as it did before the threshold was crossed. What it looks like in a boots on the ground way is borrowing more cannot even serve existing debt interest due in full, and therefore makes the debt problem ever bigger. And then the music stops. I think the US may have silently crossed the rubicon at the end of 2023 - note the fed threw up its hands and stopped raising rates. The last time they gave up on program was 2005, when M3 disapeared from all efforts. BLS numbers have been garbage for decades - and that discussion likely only begins in earnest when a number of countries just dump bonds en masse. They have a place to run to now for international settlements, and its brics.

Bro, learn to think for yourself. This is just simple cause of effects of shit brewing for a long time. -low wages = can't afford to shop -no foot traffic = less profit = job cuts + store closures = more unemployed = less people that can afford to shop This is what happens when you have a economy of only rich & poor. The middle class is the backbone of an economy. We live in a time where ai, robots, performance metrics, skeleton crew workforce, lack of starter homes for low income earners, jobs being sent over seas, & a lack of good paying jobs., When most of the jobs are retail, restaurants, or warehouse work... no one is getting ahead.

The flip side of extreme inflation is deflation and we're starting to see it as Ikea, Michael's, Walmart and Target roll back prices. Another indicator is fast food chains offereing $5 meal deals. If you can remember back to 2008-2012 there was $5 footlongs and other $5 deals. We're facing the stock market and average wages falling by 50-75%

going back to regional department stores would be more sustainable than nationwide. if Wal-Mart owned stores in 4 - 6 states, Target in 4-6 states, with other stores doing the same, then they wouldn't have to spread there resources over such a large area and let others shoulder the burden. privately owned retailers could form to make up the rest. ditching online for physical stores would help alot. stop buying online so much. that is the big problem. online shopping needs to go the way of the DoDo.. locally made, locally grown, locally sold

The decline started during the Reagan years when wealth was shifted from the middle class to the wealthy. A CEO used to make 10x his average worker’s salary, but now makes hundreds of times more. Tax rates and loopholes benefit the wealthy. Why is this a surprise?
@annsaunders57684 ай бұрын
Businesses move out of our country when taxes get too high..Mass Exodus of the fortune businesses means a much smaller base, which means we pay more. Raising taxes on wealthy individuals means they pass those taxes on to the consumer of their product. We need government to get smaller, video gamers to get jobs, losing youth to drug addiction and overdose.... This country needs to get back to God. He is punishing the world for its sinfulness and sloth. When we start putting His ways first, He will show us ways to live better once again.
