@@libralonix good, honestly s tier story telling (previous favorite game was shadow of the colossus, expectations high) and the combat was awesome. I found the ending to be very powerful, and it is still at the forefront of my mind. The only thing I didn’t like were the hit boxes and tomb of the giants, blighttown was manageable but holy shit every time I hear “tomb of the giants” I get flashbacks man lol
@libralonix
@libralonix 7 ай бұрын
@@applejuice8173 That's awesome, really glad you enjoyed it. Whats your plan next? I personally would highly recommend playing the series in order, DS2 does get a lot of hate (most of it unwarranted and just people jumping on the bandwagon, but it is a very good game), but it does have some more hitbox issues, and in some cases they can be worse than in DS1, but overall its a great game, and has a much bigger scope than DS1. Shadow of the Colossus is a banging game too, i played it when it first came out on the PS2, and also have played the PS4 remake too and both versions are just breath-taking. Tomb of the giants CAN be a nightmare, luckily on my first playthrough I already had the sunlight maggot helm (which lights up the area) so i've never had to joys of playing it completely in the dark. I would definitely recommend getting it or the skull lantern for future playthroughs!

Cool vid. Don't forget, though, in order to get Ingie to give you his pyromancy, there are a few more steps. First, after you join the Chaos covenant, you have to first get the parasite egg on your head and let him give you the antidote. Then, make sure your intelligence is AT LEAST 11. He won't offer his pyromancy if you are not at 11 intelligence. Then, keep talking to him, and he will ask you if you have an interest in pyromancy. Answer yes, and there ya go!

So every "secret" area except, 4 & 7 has clues, i.e. you can see into the Anorlondo secret room, via the window pointing at the hallway; also tip on mimics, you can tell which chest is which because one has a chain reaching out to you ready to wrap you up in it's loving embrace.* PS: Also mimics are weak to Lloyd's talismans, using one will put them to sleep. PSS: The Vamos bonfire only exists in the remake, but honestly using the previous bonfire and cutting through Vamos is almost as easy, and well worth the effort for the time saved backtracking.

So for me, I only started the series at the start of last year when all the servers were down, so i had to find most of this stuff without any of the clues! I didn't find either of the catacomb bonfires on my first 2 playthroughs, so for me that area sucked! I still put it off for as long as I have to on new playthroughs!

Cool list. I love this game and my favorite level is the abyss. What an interesting place lore wise and all these areas are filled with great lore and visual storytelling. If your new to the game still, hit all these areas because they feel so incredibly special. Especially Ash Lake when the music kicks in. Its that moment you say to yourself ,"Ooooh wow! This is SEVERELY important!". Then you get to the baby dragon... 😎👍

That's epic I'm glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching! I won't lie I was a little dissapointed in ash lake, I missed it onmg first run all those years ago, but when I replayed the game I found out I'd missed a section, I went back to it, and with the great hollow and Ash Lake just felt a tad pointless and empty. I wil conceded the Aah Lake reveal is beautiful though!

@@libralonix I discovered it grinding for the plat trophyand I agree. It could use more enemies, some more features, and of course a wickedly awesome boss instead of an easy to beat hydra. I'm not sure if it was rushed or if it's one of those Miyazaki quirks. I heard sometimes it's a matter of the visual storytelling over action with him and this is supposed to be a MAJOR lore area that wraps up Havel's plot against Seath, the attempted ending of the gods, and Seath's seizure of the area. Miyazaki might have also put a lack of enemies there (put there by Seath himself 😉), to possibly show that the area might have been important to Seath, but this also led the pale dragon into a dead end so he let it decay into what it is when you discover it. I'll have to look into it myself on that, but I agree with your feeling. I also think it would have been worth it to more people if they had a crazy boss down there as that is some epic music to hype ash lake up for so little. Anyways keep playing out there sunbro and thanks for the great vid again. I am on DSIII right now and am still finding new stuff 6 years later lol!

@libralonix
@libralonix 4 ай бұрын
You can indeed save Sif in the DLC if you have already killed Great Grey Wolf Sif, this makes sense as the DLC is set in the past. The only thing you need to do in a certain order is kill Artorias prior to killing Great Grey Wolf Sif, this then gives you an alternative cutscene with Great Grey Wolf Sif, but if your not fussed about this then you can go ham in whatever order you fancy!

hot take, hiding bonfires behind illu walls is terrible gamedesign for peoples first playthrough. some of them could have cured my massive runbacks LOOKING AT YOU CHAOS BED now that i know them the game became so much better, what a shame im in ng+ and hated my first playthrough because of runbacks
@libralonix
@libralonix 2 ай бұрын
I completely get your point of view here, I too missed the bonfire before BOC hidden behind the illusory wall, and it did indeed make that particular run back pretty frustrating, but for me at least, this didn't cause me to hate my first playthrough, and I'm genuinely saddened that it had that effect for you! I know for a lot of people, most illusory walls are glaringly obvious with floor signs, luckily for me, my first playthrough was when all the servers were down, so i had a nice blind playthrough, and as someone who loves to find all the nooks and crannies, it was a pleasant surprise on my 2nd playthrough when i discovered this additional bonfire. Dare i ask, have you played DS2, as there are a good amount of bonfires hidden behind illusory walls.....

@@libralonix i did challenge runs on DS3 Sekiro and currently on Elden Ring (in that order) and decided to pay the the souls series respect and check out DS1. Tho i see all the fundamentals that made the souls genre what it is i had a terrible experience with DS1 because i literally 1 or 2 shot every boss so far (except death bed) and died 98% of times to traps ambushes frustrated runbacks skipping enemys and dont get me started on that trap castle... i always play offline because the messages kinda ruin immersion for me so i dont see the obvious markers, didnt play DS2 but planning to after finishing the DS1 dlc which i had to replay the game because it forced me into NG+ which was also a terrible thing considering how hidden the DLC was. I also skipped the dephts and explored new londo and blighttown backwards with hours of runbacks because my firekeeper was dead and my next bonfire was at the blacksmith, let me tell you DS1 was one of the worst und most unfun gaming experiences to date. still a good game tho cant denie that. im so glad they fixed all of this in the future titles

@@libralonix im also a very patient person in souls games, i no damage run some bosses etc and die for hours without tilting because they are fun to play, but DS1 actually made me alt f4 more times than i can count due to runbacks alone lol

I feel your pain with being forced into NG+, the same exact thing happened to me as i made what i thought was a sound decision to save the DLC till last, then had to redo half of the game in NG+ just to access and do the DLC, definitely one of FS daftest decisions. So, one thing i will say is that for you to play the games out of order will inherently make certain aspects of the earlier games much easier, especially with the boss fights, as you are used to way more difficult bosses from DS3, Sekiro & Elden Ring that DS1 just cant live up to. I personally played them in order (except demon souls which i played after DS2) and i felt the progression through the games was fantastic, you could really see the mechanics and bosses of the games developing and improving (including better bonfire placements, DS3 & Elden Ring chuck bonfires at you left right and center). Plus as DS1 was most peoples first (or second dive into souls if they played DeS) most bosses tricks so to speak, were new and a surprise. I did experience most of the issues you faced on my first playthrough of DS1, as i played it offline and blind, but i found the experience a polar opposite, having to explore and find alternative options to problems was a fantastic challenge. And now every time i return to DS1 it genuinely feels like such a cosy experience to try new things, and take alternative routes.

You'd be surprised how many new players we have coming into the Dark Souls community, Elden Ring made the series/genre much more mainstream so there are surprisingly a lot of people getting some good use out of this. My main intention was to just collate all the spots into one video, but im loving the fact so many are finding it useful. And don't worry, you're not the first to point it out. And yes while "illusory" is the in-game term used, illusionary and illusory both have the same meaning and can be used interchangeably 😎

@@libralonix I disagree. The other games all have a similar aesthetic. Classic dark medieval fantasy, and that makes them bleed together more easily. I have thousands of hours combined between all the games, except Sekiro, and I frequently mix up bosses. Bloodborne, on the other hand, is unique in its style. The bosses are Victorian, Lovecraftian horror. That stands out. Their attacks are more mystical, their sounds more screechy. The only boss in Bloodborne that looks anything like the Demon's and Dark Souls and Elden Ring bosses is the Shadow of Yharnam. Maybe Rom. But that's it.

You missed one on the Crystal pathway to Seath the Scaleless: at the opening of the end of the Crystal tunnel with two Crystal Lizards, there is a long invisible upward twisting Crystal pathway to a Blue Titanite Slab that requires many many Prism Stones to make visible - or not - if you think you can follow the spare falling snowflakes marking the passage to the Slab. Of course, it's really not secret, but the Shiny is easy to miss if you're not paying close attention, as it is very far away. There is also an obscured witch summons hidden by bushes at the bottom of the steps of the tower leading to the Moonlight Butterfly in Darkroot Garden. If summoned, her gear is later available at the end of a short pathway when exiting left from the Firelink Shrine Tower into the Valley of the Drakes/entrance into Blighttown.

Hi there, in the year 2022, when i play for first time Dark Souls : Prepare To Die Edition, i found almost all this secrets, except by #6, in the abyss the unique thing i past hours there is collecting souls for level up. This year i am playing Dark Souls 2 : Schoolar of first sin, for first time, on friend house, by the moment i just reach the Drangelic Castle or something like that. i am level 200, i feel my characters level is too much low. Because i die too much, already i had more 1700 deaths, because of that i never became my character into human, all my game i had do like a hollow with the minimal life bar possible. The first time i talk with a old man on a chair, he told me "You found him 3 times, but you requiered convert to human" when he say that i kill that npc XD. after of that he don't want talk to me for hours XD, and after hours the unique thing talk to me that day was "You character can't access the abyss"

Personally i would say level 200 is way more than enough for a first completion of Dark Souls 2, but that being said, if you are struggling theres no harm in continuing to level up. And don't worry about the high deaths, i was on 1812 deaths by the time i finished my first playthrough. Everyone plays at their own pace, and skill level, so don't worry about anyone else, as long as you're enjoying the game that's all that matters!
