Update: I got one of these 22mm f/2 for under $100 to match up with my EOS-M and my M6 mark II cameras. The lens is so small so it is perfect for carrying around. The autofocus is fast enough for aperture priority (AV) on the EOS-M.

I have an EOS-M. I have a viltrox adapter for a canon 24mm f/2.8 "pancake" lens. I just ordered a TTartisan 35mm f/1.4 for the EOS-M ($73). There are not enough videos about EF-M cameras and lenses.

Yes, just make sure to have the in-camera corrections turned one for this lens (peripheral illumination, for example). It has a small size, a wide angle (35mm full frame quivalent) and combined with a compatible small EOS M camera, it should make a good fit for what you need there.

Hello my friend, could you help me? I just bought this lens and found the focus ring harder to rotate than the 15-45 lens ring. Is it like that, or is it as smooth as the kit lens? Thank you!
@apertureatlas
@apertureatlas Жыл бұрын
Hi! I now own the EF-M 22mm and the EF-S 24mm. I don't have the 15-45mm lens anymore to check. So, now, that I am holding them in my hands, what I can say is that the focus ring of the 22mm moves almost as smooth as the one from 24mm lens. I believe the 22mm lens is just a bit harder to rotate than the 24mm, but just slightly. From what I can remember, the 22mm is also a bit harder to rotate than the focusing ring found on the 15-45mm, but again, just slightly. The ef-m 28mm Macro lens focusing ring has the most amount of resistance of them all - but that resistance actually gives a premium feeling (allowing more precise manual focusing) - if the 22mm has a bit of resistance but turns smoothly (without interruption) , I wouldn't worry too much about it. Hope my comment helps!

@apertureatlas
@apertureatlas Жыл бұрын
Yes, you must physically get close to your subject. There are zoom lenses and there are prime lenses. This is a prime lens - they also come with advantages, like delivering better image quality and letting more light in, when compared to zoom lenses.

@@apertureatlas I needed a new camera cause my hobby is going to concerts. i have a cannon ixus that i bought 10 years ago and she's still kicking. she is small, portable and i aint afraid if there will be a moshpit about her safety. so i zoom lense is like a monster to hold while enjoying the show so i can zoom in to the artist. if i wont make it to first row its going to be really tough. anyways im returning the thing it was a gift but they didnt read the big picture
@apertureatlas
@apertureatlas Жыл бұрын
@@jaru13reapper Understood. A compact camera, like the Canon ixus, is also fine, as long as the concert is happening in broad daylight. If there's a low light situation, cameras with bigger sensors are needed (for better image quality in the dark), but, with bigger sensors come bigger zoom lenses - that's the drawback - less portability. If you still want a compact camera (without interchangeable lenses), you can find a Canon G7X Mark II (or Mark III)- it has a one inch sensor (better image quality), but less zoom than the ixus (only 4.2x , not 12x). All the best!

Will the internal canon IS help for stable footage? (For video)
@apertureatlas
@apertureatlas 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, the digital IS helps. On My Canon M50 i have 3 options: "Disabled" , "Enabled" and "Enhanced" . The Enhanced option is more effective, but it also crops into the video. The cameras digital IS will not give you gimbal-like stabilization, like you can see on the latest iPhone, but for stationary handheld shots it definitely does the job.

Do we need adapter to connect pancake lens to eos m200
@apertureatlas
@apertureatlas 2 жыл бұрын
For the lens that you see in the video, there is no need for an adapter. If, on the M200, you want to mount a pancake lenses made for DSLR cameras, like the Canon EF-S 24mm f/2.8 or the Canon EF 40mm f/2.8, they need the EF to EOS M Mount Adapter. Check the full name of the lens. On Canon lenses, if it has EF-M on it, it works with the EOS M200. If it has EF or EF-S, you need the adapter.

The EFM 22MM F/2 STM lense is not working on my EOS M50 MARK II , its not taking photos .Every time i press the SHUTTER button it does not shoot
@apertureatlas
@apertureatlas 2 жыл бұрын
That definitely shouldn`t happen. The Canon EF-M 22mm f/2 STM is compatible with the Canon M50 Mark II. Make sure that the lens is twisted all the way on the camera`s mount until it clicks and try again. If you have another EF-M lens and it works on the M50 Mark II, it means that the lens is the one that has issues. If you don`t have another lens, you can try the lens on another EOS M camera from someone. These options will let you know which one is broken, the camera or the lens. Once you figured out where the problem comes from, you can send that broken product to be repaired (warranty or a camera repair shop) .

Hows the sharpness of this lens compared to 50mm 1.8?
@apertureatlas
@apertureatlas 2 жыл бұрын
They have almost the same performance - with good sharpness at f/4 and excellent sharpness at f/5.6. The 50mm f/1.8 STM is handling diffraction better, though (when the aperture closes beyond f/11). Thank you for this question! I will do a separate video comparing the 22mm f/2 with the 50mm f/1.8 STM.

Can u tell which focal lengths good for food and restaurant photography? Can u suggest 2 prime lenses
@apertureatlas
@apertureatlas 2 жыл бұрын
@@sarathmohan6220 Once you asked me about the EF-M 22mm and the EF 50mm, I assume that you have a Canon EOS M camera (and probably an EF-EOS M adapter). Believe it or not, this combination 22mm+50mm will be a good fit for food and restaurant photography. The 22mm can focus at close distances (just 15cm away), it`s also good for wide shots - and the 50mm will allow you to get tight shots. These two, together, are the cheapest best options.
@apertureatlas

Is this a good lens for streaming???? On the M50
@apertureatlas
@apertureatlas 2 жыл бұрын
It all depends on the amount of space that you have in the room were you want to stream. It also depends on the framing that you want. Although it is sufficiently wide for most situations, you should first test your framing by putting yourself in front of the camera. If you have a M50+the 15-45mm kit lens, use it and zoom all the way to 22mm. So test first, with a kit lens, and then decide if you should get the 22mm prime lens.

Tell me you're ripping off Christopher Frosts lens reviews without actually telling me you're ripping them off.
@apertureatlas
@apertureatlas 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Christopher Frost, I admit, is an inspiration, but I put my own personal approach by bringing structure in the video. I believe that the information here presented is better digested and remembered by the viewer by showing chapters ( 1 to 15 ). This was my idea and I think that it helps. There are 30+ hours of work per video and all the necessary materials for lens testing where made by my hand. On top of that, I present more information, and oftentimes get different results than Chris in tests. I will never say that my lens reviews are better. His work is an inspiration, I admire it, but, in my videos, I am bringing my own personal approach. Without having a passion for lenses this wouldn't be possible.
