@@markwiemels Of course, now it's just a waiting game to get off back order. I ended up getting the 11-22mm and the 55-200mm how do you feel about that pairing? I know I'm missing a small focal length but i feel the 55 is smoother than the 18
@markwiemels
@markwiemels 3 жыл бұрын
@@caelandelgiudice2661 I think it’s the most interesting of the focal length coverage. The really wide, and really telephoto, are shots that most phones can’t get. So working in those focal ranges is a point of difference. If I could only have two lenses, that setup would be in very strong contention. You can pick up the 15-45 or 18-55 on eBay for under $100.

As another M6 MkII user, I really appreciate all your excellent and practical videos. Based on this video, I picked up the Rokinon 12mm f2 and a vintage Helios (with speed booster) and they're both wonderful. I'll just add one other for your consideration -- I recently got the Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster 35mm f/0.95 for M-mount for $300 and just love it. A manual lens but sharp in the centre wide open and by pushing down that f-stop really achieves the equivalent look of 56mm f1.4 on full frame with buttery smooth background bokeh -- a perspective which up until now has been elusive and not achieved by my Canon 32mm f1.4. Despite that our M system is likely going the way of the dodo, I now feel no pressure to upgrade for a full-frame look and have the sweet spot for quality on a budget. Thanks again for your work.

I bought me a M50 mark II with the 180-150mm zoom as the kit lens. This is such a useful range. I didn't go for the 15-45 and 55-200 kit because from my older days working with prime lenses I know that one always has the wrong lens on the body. Whatever I had on the camera was either just too short or just too long. The 18-150 doesn't give me such problems. I also bought the 11-22mm because I got it at an excellent price, new at 2/3 of the price. I am very happy with everything. It is an amazing camera. I especially like the size, low weight and versatility.

This content is top notch content from B-Roll to everything no sugar coating and he actually used them all to give real insight. I’m gonna look into that Viltrox 23MM F1.4 lens because Atleast 70% of my videos are filmed at night and the kit lens isn’t cutting it. I’m tired of that sort of grainy footage, the viltrox will be perfect to go along with my led light .

So for the canon m50 mark ii is a smart choice to add on a canon 18-200mm w/ a viltrox speed booster? Or 55-200mm w/ the Viltrox speed booster? Would either lens quality be better? And is this a smart or do-able idea?

I recently picked up the 55-200mm lense and it is my favorite so far. I do a lot of wildlife photography and this has been such a help. I had picked it up after finding an osprey nest off of an old highway and I wasn't able to get close enough with the 15-45mm lense that came with my M200 to get a good shot of the osprey in it's nest. I still haven't caught it in it's nest since getting the lense but I keep going back every week to try. I've gotten many other great shots with it since I've been using it though. I love it.

Hi! I'm writing from Italy. I have bought a used Canon M5 to replece my Canon 7D mark I. I usually used a Tamron 16-300: not a vary sharp lens (same quality of a kit lens but with a very impressive focal range). Now I have discovered that Tamron 16-300 is not compatible with Canon M-series (and my flash Yongnuo YN568EX II too!!). I have also other lenses: EF 50 f1.8 STM, EF-S 24 f2.8 pancake, Canon 18-135 STM and the EF-M 15-45. I have two choises: 1) I could try to sell the Tamron and the Canon 18-135, then buy a sigma 17-50 f2.8 + a Canon 55-250 STM. I hope this set up improve the sharpness/quality of my picture and cover all the focal range. 2) Buy only a EF-M 32mm f1.4. I'm not interested in video. Surely I'm not a professional photographer, but neither a begginer! I shot in every situation: my family want me to shot at weddings and baptisms, but I love portraits and streetphotografy, landscape and nature. Can you halp me?

I own Canon EF cameras and also an M kit, and I love the Ms. I have the M, M50 mk1, M10 and all of the native lenses except the 32mm f1.4 M (I also own a few 7Artisans, TT Artisans and Meike lM lenses), and I just can't understand why people hat the system and why it has been dropped by Canon considering there is also a huge range of EF, third party and vintage lenses that are usable on the Ms with the appropriate adaptor. I often use my M50 on my 35-350mm EF L, 100-400mm EF L and 200mm f2.8 L to great effect with no loss in performance or speed. I own and have experimented with Fuji (selling that system) and Olympus / Panasonic M43 systems, and only the M43 system is the one I would pick if the M system wasn't in existence already.

Your passion about the topic is such a delight to watch :) after watching this video I wanted to buy every each of lenses described here :) If this possible - can I ask for advice? I’m quite new in photography and I’m considering to buy my few first lenses. The main purpose - is tourism / urban photography and a bit of live streaming via hdmi capture card. Currently I’m thinking about Viltrox 23 mostly for photography and Sigma 30 for live streaming. Will it be reasonable choice in your opinion? I also thought about 18-55mm, but I’m not sure if its brightness is enough.

@markwiemels
@markwiemels 3 жыл бұрын
Depending on how close you will be to the camera, I would suggest the Sigma 16mm or Viltrox 23mm for streaming, and either the sigma 30mm, Viltrox 33, or canon 32mm for general photography. You really really need to work out what focal length works for you. Set the kit lens on 16, 23, 30 and setup to live stream, see which focal length works best, do the same for your general photography. They are all good lenses, the most important part is buying the right focal length.

Love it. My 22 2.0 lives on my camera. It’s nice to know that of the lenses I have purchased you said you’d never sell. I’ve been thinking about getting a speed booster to get close to full frame with EF glass to keep my m200 alive for years to come; what is your opinion on speed boosters?
@markwiemels
@markwiemels 3 жыл бұрын
I have been working on a video about the speed booster. You loose sharpness, and add some distortion, in exchange for more light and more background blur. It's more of a creative choice, and not for pixel peepers, it does give a dreamy vintage lens like image, which is pretty cool. So it's an interesting creative choice to have, but its not for everyone, and it does not turn an APS-C camera into a full frame equivalent. Overall I have mixed feelings about it. The best thing to do is look at some full resolution sample images online and see if you like that "look"

Mark, Thanks for the run through on the 16 lenses reviewed in this video and he ideas where each best fits a particular use. Some of these I will be taking a look at as all of the lenses that I have for my M50 are stock Cannon EF-M lenses. I guess my only version 2 video request would be that the lenses be split talking about those with the native camera mount, then those requiring an adapter and may be a plug for a good adapter. I say this because I had to scrub back and for the to determine whether an adapter was being used or not. The other question I have is whether there are are additional lenses that could be considered as part of the toolbox if using a speed booster as opposed to an adapter, i.e., the Viltrox Speed Booster for the EOS M50.

Canon 18-55 for an all arounder, Viltrox 23mm for low light (or canon 22mm, cheaper but not as good in low light). Then one more based on what your needs are, 16mm sigma (wide low light), 11-22mm canon (very wide with image stabilisation), or 55-200mm for telephoto.

I have not had my hands on the 18-150, but by all accounts it could be a very good do it all lens, should be great for video. I have used a number of other telephone lenses on the M series, to get better image quality than the EF-M 55-200 you need to step up to a much bigger more expensive lens, which doesn’t balance well on the M series. The cheaper 55-250 and 75-300 don’t perform as well, and are big and balance poorly as well. I’m my opinion the EF-M 55-200 is a very good lens, and the size works well with the camera.
