This is so full of misinformation I don't know where to start, the Getty family did not ask for the ear as proof the kidnappers had the grandson, how ridiculous. The kidnappers did it out of frustration as they weren't being paid. And the grandson died early as a result of being paralyzed from a drug overdose not from the post traumatic stress of having been kidnapped ... hello, was it your fact checker's day off Alux?
@gardensofthegods
@gardensofthegods 6 жыл бұрын
trackydog I noticed that too that they just change the narrative and who the hell does that who the hell acts like they're telling facts when they don't even check the facts.. that's not very smart because even if their grandfather was not a nice person, the Getty family could sue them for saying he demanded they cut off the grandsons ear ..that is slander.

In addition to letting the fact checkers go on vacation perhaps they should have had a read-through with the narrator before the final recording. They could've told her how to pronounce all the words she doesn't know.

You need an editor, for both factual accuracy and sentence structure. JPG III suffered an overdose of heroin and thus a stroke, which is what caused him to be wheelchair-bound the remainder of his life. You could argue that the kidnapping contributed to his demise, but not that it caused it. He used drugs both before and after.

On November 19, 1985, Pennzoil won a US$10.53 billion verdict against Texaco in the largest civil verdict in US history. This was due to the fact that Texaco established a signed contract to buy Getty Oil after Pennzoil entered into an unsigned, yet still binding, buyout contract with Gordon Getty.

He was asked by a reporter once if it bothered him that he had so much wealth and there were other people in the world who had so little. He said, "You can have whatever type of political system you want. It could be democratic, republican, socialist, communist, Muslim, Jewish, Catholic, monarchy, authoritarianism, totalitarianism, dictatorship, whatever. In every city in the world there is the best hotel and in the best hotel there is the best room, and someone is there and in every city in the world there is the worst hotel and in the worst hotel there is the worst room, and someone is there as well. You could take all of the money in the US or even the world. Put it all together and divide it out among the people where each person receiving an equal share. What would happen is, some people would save it, some would invest it, some would start a business, some would use it for an education, some would go to a casino, some would be swindled out of it, some spend it in a week or month, some would vacation with it, etcetera and in three years time, it would be exactly the way it was three years previously. It would be the same for a society or a country." 5:20 His grandson was kidnapped and the reason he did not want to pay was, it would endanger all of his children and their children for kidnapping. But he eventually did pay.

The most famous "Getty" thing today is Getty Images, which is on TV all the time. Not a word about it in this video. Yes, my name is Getty. My father and he were close through the years. In the 1950's my father helped him to make millions by telling him how he could get government land with oil on it. Around 1970 Getty sent attorneys to my Dad in California to offer him $10 million in trust funds. I was going to college in New York City. When he told me the story years later he said he turned them. One reason was the recent kidnapping of Getty's grandson, and he didn't want to have to worry about my situation. People ask how I feel about not getting any of the money. I have led a very interesting life without it; I would have had an interesting life with it. As I told my Dad at the time, half joking, half serious, "I know how to handle the problems of being super rich!"

I think I'd start a few businesses such as Neuman's, put people to work and turn some of these abandoned buildings into housing so homeless people can have a place to live, an address and then, be able to get more assistance to be off the street and have a normal life. hmmmm......... and I think I'd fund medical research, as well. sure! and set up a few scholarships for outstanding students at some of the state universities.... It would be fun, but I wouldn't be so wealthy for long. ;)

7:14 Money will buy luxury but not necessarily buy happiness. I'll explain what the differene is. You can buy a big beautiful house with money but you can not buy a happy home with money. If one has a great deal of cash one can easily find someone to marry, but money will not buy someone to be in love with you. You can buy a big beautiful bed with money, but you can not buy a good night's sleep with money. You can have a companion with money but you may not have a true friend. One of the mistakes people make when they come into wealth, or are wealthy to begin with, is they hire someone to take of their child(ren). Sigmund Freud warned against this and he had treated many who were raised like under those circumstances. When one does this, an employee is being hired. Everyone has their own agenda and the agenda of an employee just may not be conducive to a child's well being.

Getty is a cautionary tale of how dangerous a love of money over everything else can be, not an inspiration for its acquisition. Whoever owns this channel, being a billionaire is not a worthy goal. What is a worthy goal is serving others and if in the process you happen to earn a billion then good for you but it worries me seeing this sort of video peddling to susceptible people this idea that there’s some sort of honour in being a billionaire or a millionaire. Does huge wealth make someone a better person? No, it does not. Often people with enormous wealth, such as Getty, are the most dysfunctional and self interested people who lack empathy and concern for others. If you want to inspire future billionaires, inspire people to solve the world’s problems, create worthwhile products and services, do anything that benefits people beyond oneself. Inspire your followers to be better people and to look at themselves honestly and examine their flaws and change them. Money doesn’t change any of that. If anything it covers people’s flaws up and allows the worst expression of them. Be a better human being, serve others and bring value to people’s lives. That’s something to aspire to.

I am literally here at the end of a rabbit hole because I wanted to find a streaming service that currently has lost Highway...... I hate the internet... Just wanted to watch a movie now I'm commenting about how a 7 million dollar house isn't that expensive,, 🙄 no I don't have one but I used to live and work in a very affluent area and worked on houses that were 15 million dollar teardowns! yep people would buy it for fifteen million or more and level it and build a new mansion on top. I've actually worked on one of the most expensive houses built in my little part of the world which was 5 times what the teardown was... Not trying to say that 7 million for a house isn't a lot of money but it's also not a lot of money.... considering what he had that was pinching pennies.

If you come here to get inspired to be a billionaire, you will never be a billionaire. Just saying. Money is not everything. Love, honor, dignity, those virtues will always triumph over greed.

Owesome Music he was his grandson not his nephew. Plus it's not his responsibility nor his duty . It's the responsibility of the parents. And his grandson often joked around about being kidnapped and getting a ransom. If I was in his shoes I woundnt pay a dime even if he dies. Its a question of principle, u have to understand that a billionaire like cant brought to his knees by paying a ransom over emotional issues or it will be the end of him

I would spend it on our local public parks and encourage more native wildlife and get rid of animals that destroy the ecosystems for our native wildlife and get children interested in schools more in our wildlife.

If I had all the money in the world I would make sure to help the youth before I passed away, especially some one who is really nice, and doesn't really have support I would make sure to leave them some money. I would make summer jobs or something available for people.
